VinnyCrow Posted August 28, 2013 Share Posted August 28, 2013 I find it rather disappointing when masculinity and femininity and divided into feminine = friendly and caring, masculine = bold and aggressive. Men, women, and non-binary people are equally capable of being either or in between; it's a matter of personality, not gender, but society likes to assign gender to personality. Qutenkuddly pointed out the test was made in the 70s, which definitely explains a thing or two, but sadly this kind of attitude about gender roles is still prevalent today; I see it all the time. As a female who is not a remotely manly individual, though I'm hardly all that feminine either, this... surprised me. I expected to get closer to 0, to be honest. But then, this is based off the Bem Sex-Role Inventory, which has very old-fashioned values of what it is to be masculine and feminine. So according to masculine and feminine stereotypes I scored nearly completely in the middle with a positive 1. Androgynous with a slight bit of femininity.
