Porn and Asexuality

Ok, so I'm a big fanfiction reader, if I'm in the fandom I'll most likely read it, a lot of the stories I read have sex scenes in them, but nothing to bad. unless its that time of the month and then its like my body throughs pheremones at me like "Here, get horny and have children" and i'm all "No, shut up I'm trying to read!" and its like "Fine but atleast read the porny parts". Usually i read things that are more plot than anything else and i tend to skim through the porny parts unless there either well written, have plot in it, or its that time again. myself have no intrest in having sex, I tried thinking about it at one point and I'm like Ugh not something I want, but when its fictional characters its ok for me to read. Now when people make porny fiction on real people thats iffy for me, its feels like an invasion of privacy but thats me.

So what I'm trying to say is,. Is porny plot fiction something that asexy people read or is that something else in me?

If it is meant to be that kind of fiction, I wouldn't read it. If it is a part of a fiction story, I'll read it and maybe try to picture the characters saying/doing what is written on the page. So maybe it depends on the person, or maybe I am an oddball. Neither one does anything for me though. It's not enjoyable, and I don't hate it.

Many Asexuals enjoy erotic fiction, some don't but so do non-asexuals :)

I read romance because I'm a romantic/emotional person like that. I don't mind sex scenes, as long as they keep it tasteful (but I still know what's happening XD please don't make it a guessing game). Something like 50 shades is completely "ew" to me because of how untasteful those scenes are.

My friend, the amount of hentai I've read is mind blowing. Honestly. Guinness world records showed up at my door with a little golden trophy that read biggest hentai reader of all time. I have it somewhere around here.

On the plus side it led me to read Futari Ecchi, which is an AMAZING read!

I know it seems odd to think of an ace reading porn, but I really can only enjoy it when I need to 'take care of myself' and the moment I'm done I can't read it anymore. I don't know how anyone could watch an hour and a half porno movie. I would go insane!

FYI, it has been scientifically confirmed that pornography addiction alters/effects the brain in the same exact way as heroin:

http://spadeofaces.wordpress.com/2013/09/25/insight-compulsive-pornography-users-shows-the-same-brain-activity-as-alcoholics-and-drug-addicts/

I personally boycott any and all pornography.

It's an addiction when it's harming your life or the people you are around. When I was dating I gave it up, four months straight. Actually that was kind of a bad thing cause then I thought I was supposed to masturbate about my partner which only led to me being confused and lost.

I've gone off and on with porn and to be honest it only caused me harm when I saw masturbation as wrong and disliked myself for it.

You can masturbate...:( I wish i could, I want to experience an orgasm at least once in my life, I've heard they're cool, but its just end up like "Ok, now turn the legs to jello,..nevermind lets pack it up and head home" ...lucky dog

Don't feel bad. I will never experience a lot of things that you will.

Masturbation does not typically feel good. It feels good like 10% of the time, the rest it is just time killer. My body makes me do it mostly to deal with stress or if I have to much time on my hands. People over hype the little things, I don't know why.

I hardly read any fiction at all these days (I'm lucky if I have enough time to read a newspaper each day!), but back in the day when I read a lot of books (my main interest was horror/fantasy and some sci-fi) I always felt like graphic sex scenes ruined whatever it was that I was reading, and I would often skip over them. Luckily, not a lot of that genre (at least back in the 80's and early 90's) had much sex, so I normally didn't have to worry about it.

As far as any other kind of porn (outside of stuff you might find in written fiction), I avoid it like I would avoid stepping in dog poop, and if I do accidentally stumble into/onto some, it's like "bleah-yuck!".

If fiction has a sex-scene in it I'll generally read it, unless it's cringe-worthily written. Also straight up erotic fiction with barely any plot or character I read as well, when I'm in the mood. I don't think it makes me any less ace - it's not like I'd actually want to do the stuff that I read, in real life.

And I second what eched said about masturbating/orgasms being over-rated. There's plently of things I enjoy much more.

I believe that masturbation should never be viewed as a bad thing. It is a naturally occurring function after all and should be enjoyed as much as wanted. :)

I read a ridiculous amount of slash fic (I have probably two thousand plus pages of fic on my iPad), and I'm actually a rather prolific slash writer (yeah, I write the sexy times). I identify as an aro ace.

Just because I wouldn't want to do the things doesn't mean I can't read or write about others doing them. I'm more interested in the emotional aspects of it, especially with the more sensitive pieces I write (and a lot of the time, the sex is included /because/ it's plot-relevant). I also write a lot of kink stuff because it's interesting and the dynamics fascinate me. Do I get aroused sometimes by what I read? If it's very, very dirty, yeah, sometimes. Do I feel the overwhelming need to masturbate right then and there? Nope. Do I get myself off? Yeah, sometimes. It feels good, etc. Do I get off writing porny things? Nope. If anything, I still blush my way through them because I'm shy and I have a tendency to jump in the end of the smut bucket.

Do I think this makes me any less of an aromantic ace? No. Do I need to do a lot more research on how romantic/sexual people view their partners? Very much so. There's a lot of things (romantic attraction, sexual attraction, sex) I don't practically understand, so research is necessary to make sure I'm portraying it accurately.

Heh, orgasms feel good to some and not others. Personally, I find it rather unpleasant and cannot fathom how that is meant to be the thing people spend so much effort achieving. It is like.. "Uncomfortable. Slightly painful. Uncomfortable. I need to pee and I feel uncomfortable." Wee random uncontrolled muscle spasms! For my boyfriend, one of the best feelings he can have though. So, yeah, I wouldn't worry if you can't get there .. it isn't for everyone.

i don't red pron fictions because i don't find them interesting, and i'm sex repulsed so it would be the most disgusting experience ever. you know, as if you were reading your worst enemy's biography <_<

but if i'm reading a normal fanfiction and there's a sex scene, if it's explicit, i totally skip it.

if it's not really explicit, i read it really fast just to get what the characters are doing, but this way i don't have the time to "process" the scene, so i don't feel disgusted. it's complicated :P

Hi, I'm new here. And I enjoy reading queer romance fictions(not porn fiction).

I also enjoy some comics of the same topic, but I'm only comfortable with fictious artwork, since anything too revealing or consisting of real people is just pretty offensive to me. I wonder if anyone feels the same.

I do the same. I'm more interested in the emotional aspects of it than the actual sexual interaction. I actually started looking into asexuality when I realized I wasn't putting myself into my favorite slash fics.

I don't generally set out to read porn fiction, or anything that just focuses on sex. But if it's part of a story with characters I care about and/or an engaging plot, I'm totally fine with it. It can be kind of boring to me sometimes, unless it's between characters who have a romance I strongly support. Then I become terribly fangirly over the emotional connection between the characters.

I like stuff about (female) celebrities, but not ones based on TV shows/movies with characters and stuff.

I wouldn't be interested in reading a sexy Smallville or Doctor Who story, but one about a celebrity/celebrities I like...totally.

I should ask, what is porny erotic fiction? Never heard about it...

Pornographic literature, writing that contain a level of sexual description and situations.

It may come under different slang names... One such as Lemon Fanfiction, story's made by fans about a pre-existing fictional character in any form or media, cartoons, TV, movie/book characters etc. that contain a high level of sexually explicit content.

I've perhaps missed the point.

I have this weird attitude to fanfiction, I can't read direct, soppy romantic stuff, nor can I read flat out porn. If there's a pairing, there has to be some exterior , important plot line going alongside it and the pairing has to be a really slow burn thing. Like, the pairing is just one small part of the story going on in the background.

On most fanfictions solely based on the pairing and nothing else, I lose interest and stop reading as soon as they confront eachother over romantic/sexual tension. It just becomes boring and predictable from then on, unless it's important to the plotline and a good fic.

I wouldn't purposely set out to read M+ but if it comes up I'm just like 'eh okay,' and may stop reading based on where I think the storyline is going but it doesn't really bother me. I'm not sex repulsed, I do like reading about other pairings being interested in eachother but it's just not for me personally.

YES! The absolute best thing to search for is "slow burn". I had a fanfiction that I used to read (from a fandom that will remain nameless!) and there was SO MUCH reading material. I don't even remember how many chapters - 170 or more. Anyway, it was a huge part of my life for a while because the author did such a good job at ever-so-slowly upping the sexual tension while having other things go on.

Ha - I can't read fanfiction. I have a very strong reaction along the lines of "but - that's not right!" Pretty much I'm "if it's not cannon, I'm not reading it."

Porn on the other hand - or erotic fiction I read plenty. Preferably gay male porn with a lot of power play, possibly because there is so little chance of me identifying as one of the participators (I am and have always been female, dislike male genitalia to look at and despise real life disparities in control or power).
