Chook
Good morning, good evening, and good night everyone.... Here it's good night and I'll be sneaking off to bed soon. I'm in a bit of a predicament and hope some of you lovelies can help me out a little bit. I have been married a long time (two kids, strong relationship) but a couple months ago I finally figured out that I am asexual. I want to talk to my husband about it and get things out in the open, but I have absolutely no idea how to broach the subject. I'm fearful of what this might mean to him, and I want to be sensitive to his needs(and I know he has them). No matter how I try, every 'conversation starter' sounds either contrived (soooo... how 'bout that curling team, eh? No? It's not something you're interested in? Funny you should say that, I feel the same about sex....') or it sounds like I'm dropping a huge bomb on the relationship (the classic... 'we need to talk.'). I would be hugely grateful to anyone who can give a few tips about how to broach the topic, especially in a committed relationship with children involved.
Guest
Here are some ideas on how to start the conversation, by swankivy: http://swankivy.tumblr.com/post/48785227872/coming-out-as-asexual Maybe you could show him AVEN. I'm dealing with this issue too, it's kind of difficult to wait for the 'perfect conversation' so you can bring up the topic in a subtle way. Good luck :)
arieseast
Perhaps write a letter? You could address all the questions at once then. Welcome, by the way :cake:
