Why do you mastrubate, if you are asexual?

For me, its because I am still effected by testosterone, just don't feel its sexual pressure. I become spontaneous, recklass, and constantly high on adrenaline. Afterwards, I feel calmer and more able to think. I think it is supposed to lower blood pressure and stuff.

To prevent "nocturnal emissions", not sure I still get them though, but I get stuck in routines. I've also tried it to help me sleep, though it doesn't seem to work very well for me.

Curiosity at first. I was disappointed after the first few attempts, but kept trying, thinking one day it had to feel better. So I guess my motivation was determination. When it still didn't work I was so frustrated I gave up. I very rarely do it out of boredom and because there is still this feeling of "there must be more to it" in the back of my mind. But there isn't.

This, more or less. I get too tense and high-strung (both muscularly and mentally) to sleep. I could just take my muscle relaxant to achieve the same effect, but I hate pills and the former has a more immediate soporific effect.

I only discovered this site a couple of days ago myself, so I'm not sure if everyone feels the same as me, but I don't believe that being asexual means you don't/shouldn't/can't masturbate. I do it regularly but I still class myself as asexual because when it comes to relationships I don't consider sex a factor and I certainly don't pursue sexual relationships because that's not something that interests me.

Whilst I only took A level biology and my opinion may not be backed by scientific evidence, I'd say masturbation (especially in men) is primarily a biochemical process that is hard for most to avoid (without regular intercourse), whether they're actively interested in sex or not.

As mentioned in previous posts, masturbation can act as a drug (orgasm results in various chemical responses) and regardless of sexual desires, masturbation can result in feelings of well being, relaxation, etc. And if it feels good, why not? There's a joke that goes "why do dogs lick their balls? Because they can" I'd be interested to know what goes through the mind of a dog doing such a thing. I think that it's probably just "this feels good" and not some sort of sexual fantasy.
