Fictosexual, less sexual?

Just by searching around a bit, this site has already helped me. I have also felt more attracted to fictional characters than real life people, and recently I started to feel a bit alone in this. Sure, I know people that are attracted to them, but they are all attracted to real people too. Granted, I don't know anyone else in the asexual spectrum. But anyway, a quick search on here let me know that there is an actual word for it: fictosexual. The thing is, I'm even greysexual in that regard. Like, I have had fantasies about having sex with fictional characters sometimes, but it never lasts long. Instead it shifts to two (or more) fictional characters having sex. And I never masturbate. It is just something I think about every once in a while. I was just wondering if anyone else is fictosexual like this? I guess another question is where the cut off points are for greysexual, since this fictional fantasies are one of the main reason I identified as such.

If you only fantasize about sex with fictional characters, it seems like you have no desire for partnered sex in real life. I'm pretty sure that counts as asexual.

Well, I identify as asexual, because, well, the definition seems to fit me. Although, I am sexually attracted to anime characters. Specifically Levi Ackerman, from Shingeki no Kyojin. But also Eren Jaeger, L, and (occasionally) Sebastian Michaelis. I still identify as asexual, because these characters do not have a physical body for me to be attracted to. It's more of a love of their character, combined with beautiful artwork, but I know that if these characters were in a live action film, I would not feel the same way.

There's debate because you technically desire sex with someone, but with no one IRL, so it would really amount to the same thing as an asexual, so i say if you don't desire sex IRL then you can go by asexual. I've heard other Fictosexuals say they imagine sex with them being represented by another fictional character, so you sound normal. And asexuality is not a spectrum; just as white or heterosexuality or homosexuality is not a spectrum. Sexuality, Romanticism, and the Gray umbrella are though. People can not desire sex IRL for different reasons, but that still doesn't make not desiring sex/asexuality a spectrum.

I identify as demisexual and even though I've been attracted to some people in the past, I never fantasize about anyone I've known in real life or met online. Somehow thinking about someone "real" makes me uncomfortable, when I try my brain just goes "NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE", it's just repulsing and I feel awkward and creeped out. But I do fantasize a lot about fictional characters. I prefer hentai and animations compared to porn and when I play games I often role-play my character's life in my head, which very often leads to her having sex with a NPC. I've never fantasized about me having an intercourse with a fictional character... Imagining myself in an intimate situation repulses me aswell.

I've always had fictional "crushes" only, but I do live in a small town and go to school with less than a hundred people so that might be it. But the crushes are weird. It's more that I ship one character and another character I identify with together, or in a game I ship my character and my "crush". I'm not one of those ppl who think the character is going to come alive and marry me or something.

Yah, I've heard of Fictosexuals having a character represent themselves in a fantasy toward the crush.

A lot of times, asexuality is used as an umbrella term for sexualities that aren't quite as sexual as others. Lithsexuals, for example, aren't asexual, but some would argue that it is on the spectrum. Some people (including myself) argue that demisexuals aren't asexuals but are demisexuals, but yes, that's on the spectrum. Fraysexuality has also been deemed, at least by some, to be "on the spectrum." If those three are under the asexual umbrella, I don't see why fictosexuals can't be.

To answer your question about other people experiencing attraction towards fictional characters, well, some seem to feel it only towards people who aren't real, and some don't, but I made a topic about it almost a year ago that garnered over a hundred responses, so surely a lot of people feel it! :) Hopefully that helps!

Asexuality is not a spectrum/umbtella; someone either desires sex or they don't. The reasons why someone may not desire sex can vary. Lithsexuals who immediately lose interest in sex (vs over time) upon reciprocation can go by asexual out of convenience. Yes, Demisexuals are sexual / Gray-sexual/Gray-asexual (depending on what side they fall more toward); few debate that they're ace. Tbe gray umbrella is a spectrum on its own and there is nothing wrong with being on it, but being on it does not mean someone is asexual in any way; they just reseble it in some momentary way. Being sexually attracted to fictional characters is common, yes, but it being the only way someone feels so (i.e. fictosexual), then no. I don't know how common fictosexuality is though.

I believe when we say that there is an umbrella, we don't mean for just asexual. We mean there is a spectrum between the two extremes. People who are asexual are asexual, people who are sexual are sexual, but there are also many people in between. The "gray" is more of the spectrum than asexual/sexual. The asexual/sexual terms are just the two ends of the list, if that makes sense.

Then that's just called Gray-A.
