And this isn't a perfect poll at all, so in advance: Don't hate.

I am an instrumental teacher and musician. I take pride in what I do and don't wish to do anything else. It is a fulfilling job, and much appreciated by those who have a regard for music. It is a constant battle to keep music education respected as those who don't regard it see it as a soft subject. Nothing could be further from the truth however.

You might want to add Pastor or Priest for those who are working in a religious direction. Unless one of the other options count towards those?

You might want to add the legal profession (judge, attorney, paralegal, etc.) or legal support (e.g.: court reporter, production). Both, while tied together, are separate fields.

Even though I'm technically still a student, I answered "Artist" because I recently took the first steps towards getting paid for my writing and I consider my writing to be my main job right now. Writing has been my dream job since early childhood, so even though I'm not actually getting paid yet, the fact that there is potential for me to get paid very soon is exciting. Anyway, you can probably guess that I love it from that, and I'm proud of it.

I checked student since I don't have a job, but I'm in college for health office administration.

I'm software developer and I love it. Of course not every project I worked on but this job is perfect for me. I'd only like to go even more into technical aspects and have less contact with business etc.

I put 'other' since I am now retired due to ill health. But I hated my former job.

I listed "student" - I was previously an assistant manager at a payday loan company, but have been disabled for the past few years and am currently in school for Medical Office Billing and Coding, hoping to be able to go back to work sometime.

Currently I'm a college student, which I like a lot. I guess you can say I'm proud of what I do in the sense that I really enjoy it and think it was the right step for me to take, but I also realize that I cannot be a student forever so my current position will hopefully just be a stepping stone to something better.

Health care. Currently, I don't like my job as a patient advocate. I'm proud of it but I don't like it. I'm really hoping my interview Monday goes well so I can transfer into the neuroscience department. Fingers crossed for the "I love my job" option.

I'm a student, but I have several jobs, all of which fall under "other."

I'm unemployed but I'd like that to change. I have trouble with stress so I can only take one class at a time right now and I can't handle retail or food stores. I want a better job if I can get one. My money comes from family but I feel bad about it. I also still live with my parents.

I am currently a student. I have finished compulsory education (GCSEs) and next year will begin two more years at my school for A-levels. I am taking biology, chemistry, maths and physics. After one year I will drop one of the sciences (probably either physics or biology) before Pershing a university degree and a science related career. I am still unsure what I would like to do.

I am a BLM wildland firefighter working in Alaska. and I love my job at this point in my life.! especially when working with or around helicopters! there's just something amazing about trying to save pristine forests from active wildland fires day in and day out! but if it were possible I'd rather work strictly with helicopters fulltime either as a pilot or mechanic.

Currently a student on a writing-based course. My ideal jobs would be as a Police Officer, Firefighter, Motorbike mechanic, Pilot or something along those lines. Just a pain because writing is my strongest skill and I don't particularly care to become what I'm essentially being trained to be right now. Feel like I'm being pushed up a hill I don't really want to go up.

The finances category fit what I do best, I am pretty indifferent about the job itself, and I would change carreers if I could. Bleh ... The firm I work for has just been aquired and I may not have a job much longer so may be my opportunity to change careers :)

Security guard here, deal with the underbelly of society in the most gentle way possible, and completely unarmed. It is pretty boring actually, and I tend to spend most of my time online ahha.

I'm a Dog Groomer first and foremost. 3 years experience, not much, but I have my set of clients that wouldn't go to anyone else but me. Unfortunately, I was being treated unfairly at the salon I was working under and had to quit. For the time being I'm making my living taking care of elderly people, saving up money to get my own grooming set up in my home.

I do love grooming and working with animals, but I'd like to go to school for something tech related.

My dream job, if I had the magical chance to pick, would be something in the entertainment industry. I just really love entertaining and connecting with people, but I know realistically that's never going to happen for me career wise.

I'm a student studying Biochemistry, and I work part time as a Surveryor (I call people and ask them questions. Yes, one of those.) I don't mind my job, it suits my life as a full time student - I can do homework while I work. It isn't fulfilling, but I think the same can be said about most jobs in the service industry. Ultimately I want to go into Research - maybe teach on the college level.

I'm a freelance graphic designer/artist. : ) And I really like it, but I have my issues that make me hate it some days. Honestly though, my dream job would involve working with animals. Buuut I do love my graphic design...so yeah. :P

Technically because I'm in between undergrad and vet school I'm not currently a student, but I do work in the field, so I put "healthcare" instead of "student." I'm trying to get into vet school for next year.

Yay physics! Second the need for "scientist" option. There are a lot of post-docs that do research but don't teach.

I selected student because I'm primarily that, but right now (and every summer) I'm employed by a contractor as an undergraduate hire at a government lab doing nuclear physics (theory, but more on the computation side of theory). Couldn't ask for a better arrangement!

I put 'other'. My last job was as a teacher, but I don't have any qualifications or anything so I'm hesitant to call it a 'profession'. (I'm twenty six and have never done anything other than dabble fleetingly in different areas).

Right now I'm a full-time homemaker. I'm definitely not unemployed, however. My days are far busier now than they were in some full-time jobs I've had; the only difference is that I don't bring in any money for what I do. Which is annoying (I like having money). Once my kid's old enough to go to daycare, I want to go back out to work part-time though.

I'm not voting.

What counts as a profession? And what if I have multiple ones?

Here are the four regular sources of income that I had in the past year:

1. 24 hours per week as a CNA- which is generally put in the medical field although it's not as directly medical as doctor or nurse.

2. 11 hours per week as a weaving assistant.

3. 3 classes per week teaching chess.

4. Tutoring math.

???
