Las redes sociales gozan de buena salud, sus usuarios expresan todo tipo de sentimientos por ellas, unos sentimientos que corren el peligro de ser virales y convertirse en tendencia. Esto es lo que ha ocurrido con los asexuales: jóvenes y adolescentes que declaran abiertamente en redes sociales su desprecio por el sexo.

Esta corriente ha tenido su impacto dentro de Twitter, Tumblr e Instagram, en las que bajo el hashtag #AceDay más de 15.000 personas de todo el mundo han reconocido algo que, según ellos, lleva mucho tiempo oculto y que al igual que la homosexualidad o el transgénero ha sido repudiado por la mayoría de la sociedad: la asexualidad.

El #AceDay, es exactamente el primer "Día de la Visibilización Asexual", una iniciativa que lleva desde el pasado viernes inundando las redes sociales de selfies de quienes viven ajenos a las tensiones del sexo.

Esta nueva agrupación busca visibilizar a aquellas personas que no sienten deseo sexual, algo que no tiene nada que ver con la abstinencia, ya que según ellos la asexualidad es biológica no es por elección propia, sino por naturaleza.

Para hacer esta denuncia pública a través de las redes sociales, los jóvenes y adolescentes utilizaron tres armas que plagaron los post de Twitter y de Tumblr; los selfies, la revindicación y unas misteriosas cartas de póker.

Al más puro estilo Ice Bucket Challengue, los "asexuales" utilizaron una bandera que ilustrara el selfie y su condición; las cartas de poker representaban, en función del palo de la carta (corazones, diamantes, tréboles o picas), su grado de condición asexual.

As de corazones para el "alorromántico asexual", aquel que experimenta atracción romántica de forma habitual hacia personas de uno o más géneros, pero que no siente ningún impulso hacia el sexo.

As de picas para el "arromántico asexual", aquel que directamente no siente atracción sexual ni experimenta ningún tipo de atracción romántica hacia personas de ningún género.

As de diamantes para el "demirromántico" y el "gris-asexual", personas que experimentan atracción romántica o sexual únicamente hacia personas con quienes tiene una conexión emocional fuerte.

Por último, el As de trébol. La carta para quienes, reconociéndose parte del espectro asexual, están inseguros o se cuestionan sobre su orientación romántica.
