not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm gonna go for it anyway

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I like to sometimes watch Japanese BL movies (Boys Love) and thankfully most of the movies I've watched have been very light on sex scenes (and if they do have sex scenes they are usually very short and not that "full on"

I also recently watched a gay romantic comedy that to my surprise (and relief) had no sex scenes at all

I like to watch movies where the 2 main characters are male, and in love but I'm kinda hesitant on watching other gay rom/coms or gay movies in general since I don't wanna see any sex scenes (or at least nothing major)

and sadly when I search google for "gay movies with no sex scenes" and stuff like that the results come out as things like "best gay sex scene in a movie" "free gay porn hot sex" etc etc

so if anyone else here enjoys romantic movies about gay men and knows of some that don't have sex scenes (or minimal sex scenes) please tell me what the movies are called so I can look into them

It's not really much of a romance until the vert end, but my favorite gay movie is In And Out (much as it sounds like porn, I assure you it's not.) Unfortunately most movies I know of are overfond of sex just like in heterosexual romances.

Las Vegas now has a weekly asexual group! Whether you live in the area or are just passing through, please feel free to stop in and say hi!

We invite you to join the A/Sexy Tango, aka The Great WTF's asexual/sexual relationship blog. Warning: Snark ahead.

Is there any indie asexual filmmaker out there?

I don't want to be a role model. I just want to be someone who says, this is who i am, this is what i do. I say what's on my mind."

Yep, I know just how you feel. I have the same problem, also with books. Gay, without the in-your-face sex (as it were - perhaps I should rephrase that...)

Anyhow, here are a couple I like that might suit you, though my taste may be a tad dry:
* 'Another Country' (UK, 1984) (boys' school, 1930s. Has very young Rupert Everett & Colin Firth, actually about the Cambridge spies, but there's a central love story)
* 'The Wedding Banquet' (An Ang Lee film from before BB Mountain!) A rather sweet comedy.
* 'Wilde' of course, though it was hardly a proper love story
* 'Prick up your ears' which was a very entertaining biopic about joe orton, but, again, not very love-story-ish, despite it being about a relationship
* 'Christopher and his kind' - which I'm not sure about, I've had it recommended to me, but it's still on my 'to be watched' list. I've read the book and there's nothing graphic in it, though (and it's got Matt Smith in the lead!)

I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some, I'll repost if I think of any.
"'Tes wickeness! 'Tes flying in the face of Nature!"
"Nonsense!" said Flora. "Nature is all very well in her place, but she must not be allowed to make things untidy."

A while ago I watched this French movie called A Question of Love (Juste une question d'amour). If I remember correctly there wasn't much, or at least not graphic, sex in it. There was a lot of kissing though, I think. Anyway, it's a surprisingly good movie.

Right. Just remembered. There's one scene where there's lots of nudity, and I was like "WOAH!" and hid behind my chair, but it didn't actually lead to... much. I can't really say what happens without spoilers, but what I'm trying to say is it seemed much more awkward and graphic than what it actually turned out to be
“It’s been a big thing for me shhh!, you know… it’s so funny how noisy my brain is and… everyone’s brain is noisy, it’s what it does, it makes thuds. And the problem is I think in most of our lives the root of suffering is following that brain noise and listening to that brain noise and actually identifying with it as if it’s who you are. That’s just the noise your brain makes, you know… And, more often than not, it probably doesn’t have much to say that’s gonna help you.” - Chris Evans

If anyone else is interested I've now seen 2 movies involving gay main characters that haven't involved sex scenes

Make the Yuletide Gay: No sex scenes, tons of innuendos. still a pretty decent movie I guess
The curiosity of Chance: no sex scenes, little innuendo, not really any romance, decent enough

if anyone else has any suggestions they'd like to make, keep em commin

I'm thinking we could maybe use this thread to list various kinds of movies that are "Ace Friendly"

I can't think of any films like that with gay characters, but Tron Legacy is rather good for anyone wanting to see an ace-friendly film with straight characters. There is a definite romance that builds between Sam and Quorra, but it's purely emotional and without any kissing or sex. :) I'll try and see if I can find any films with asexual-ish gay romance too, which hopefully will be somewhat more helpful! ;^^
