Vagus Posted July 20, 2005 Share Posted July 20, 2005 er i'm not sure which to vote for. though i can see some very amusing things in ordinary things, thus i come across as slightly wacho i have a very vivid imagination and i spend a lot of time with it as i write every day and mentally plan stuff when i have a few moments (ie when eating, in queues ect, it beats being bored) but i do have a very firm fix in reality and can usually tell the difference, and i usually know what going on around me. however reality can really be strange (see Matrix) and thus concidering the state of the world it could really so with an up grade. the only thing that confuses me is daja vu (i think i spelt it wrong, but you get the idea) but i have been told on several occaisons that i'm anit all there, hence my confusion, please tick which ever is appropiate Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My close friend often calls me "ignorant" and "closed-minded" just because I don't have the same "practical" ideas that he does. But that's not the case, I assure you. It is not necesarily ignorance, but perhaps a different way of viewing things? I think that a lot of people who are inclined towards "reality" are actually just inclined for this specific type of logic that is wide-spread and most easily accepted. I guess I have come to accept the world we live in, how it works, how it often cheats the deserving and rewards the undeserving, how justice is seldom served, etc. People often call me pesimistic because of such views, but I am able to deal with it instead of escaping to my own little fantasy world. cait has said it is hard for realistic people to comprehend the insanity of the fantastical mind. I've always had other lives going on in my head and if I didn't have them I'd go nuts. Nope. I only deal with reality when it's completely unavoidable. The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that I don't really live in reality -- I spend most of my time watching movies, reading books, or playing on the internet, which is not reality; and for the past four years I have been safely ensconced in the 'ivory tower' that is academic life, and that's not reality, either. But I don't have much of an imagination and I'm not prone to daydreaming -- I live completely in the real world just luckily, so far, on my own terms. My weirdos are so much more awesome than real weirdos. I've maintained a very strict barrier between fantasy and reality for pretty much as long as I can remember (pretty unconciously, really, it's just always been there), but I do love to imagine. In fact, half my downtime is taken up with either fantasizing about being interviewed (I have this thing about talking about myself) or brainstorming for whatever creative project I might be working on. And I get really immersed in characters when I write. I don't think I could have gotten over some of the plot difficulties in my last project had I not been so madly in love with everyone in it. I find that there's not much point in writing if you don't really care about what you're writing about, and so man do I care. (I've even got about a half-dozen characters floating around whose backstories have deteriorated but I still love 'em too much to let them die. I'm just weird like that, I guess.) Otherwise, I live in my own aesthetic world - music, art, creative writing etc. I love to simply dream up new creations and fantasize about living in a futuristic world where people can follow a career path of their choice and not have to worry about who's going to take the trash out.
