Guest
You read it right, I'll be in Milan tomorrow. I will be interviewed by Marco Berry (an Italian journalist and presenter who has worked for a number of relatively famous programs) about asexuality in general and my experience as an asexual person :) The interview will be aired on television on a TBA date and time. Plus, I get half a day to go around in town and see pretty places. Go me! I will report the event here as soon as I can, of course ^_^

Philip027
That's a... really weird picture of him on the wiki. Is he trying to shove something up his ass? I mean, even his facial expression looks sorta appropriate... Erm, ANYWAY Will this be something the rest of the world will be able to see? Safe travels :D

Lambda Corvus
This is so amazingly awesome, words cannot truly characterise it. Many congratulations Silver for the excellent opportunity, and for your outstanding visibility efforts. I hope the interview goes well.
tommy92
Is it a good TV channel he's working for? Our TV channels tend to report in certain "undertones". O well, I shouldn't be so sceptical^^ have fun :)

Guest
Ganbarimasu Chroma-chan! ^_^ Will this be something the rest of the world will be able to see? I can't record at home, but if someone does record it, then yes. :) Is it a good TV channel he's working for? Our TV channels tend to report in certain "undertones". O well, I shouldn't be so sceptical^^ have fun :) Yes, he works for one of the main Italian TV channels. I've participated in some interviews before, both voice and video (and countless email interviews), but I never quite had the opportunity to do something of this kind. It's going to be fun and I hope lots of people watch it :D (...That means seeing my dorky face, but hey, it can't be helped for visibility.) Thanks to everyone for the encouragements! Since I have a few spare hours in town, I will probably have a small walking trip and see the Milan Cathedral as well as the Sforza Castle. I will post pictures if I can go. :D

ithaca
Lucignolo is the name of the program, and it generally airs on Sunday at 9.30 PM. I don't know the specific time Silver's interview will be on. And sadly I'll be at work at that time (plus I don't have a tv <_< ). But it seems like we MAY find it on streaming a few days later, and I'm forcing my almost-brother-in-law to find a way to record it <_<

Guest
Here I am again! The experience was splendid overall. :) I left Rome on a train to Milan at 9:00 AM yesterday, and arrived at around 12:00 PM. A driver took me to the hotel and, from there, I waited for Elia (the journalist who contacted me for the interview) to come. We met up at 2 PM *coughwassupposedtobe30minutesearliercough* in front of the hotel, exchanged greetings, and then took the underground together to the place where the interview would have started. He's a pretty talkative, sociable person, and we had a chat about computers and computer security as we travelled, knowing that I was a computer engineering bachelor. At first I thought he was just supposed to talk to me because of his job, but he seemed pretty enthusiastic to learn about the stuff I explained him actually! Now here comes the funny part. The interview was actually at an underground stop. We went down and waited for Marco Berry and his troupe of cameramen. His entrance was rather funny: he was being filmed while walking silently, playing with a silver coin in his right hand. I later asked Elia what that was supposed to mean. He told me it was because of Marco's past as a magician. After the setup was done, Marco came to greet me as well, and explained me he had a "freeform" interview in mind, without any premade script, and asked me if that was fine. "Sure!" I said, and we both sat down in a small corner at the underground stop. "Just forget that you're going to be on TV and do whatever, be natural!" he told me, before starting the interview, in an amicable tone. In spite of being relatively famous, he had nothing of what I'd expected from a famous person. His character wasn't very different from Elia's: talkative and easy-going. Then, there was the interview, which looked much like a talk between two friends in many aspects. He asked me a few typical Asexuality 101 questions, and I explained romantic orientations, libido, the difference between asexuality and celibacy, mixed relationships, the importance of the community in every asexual's self-discovery process... you get the gist. He seemed incredibly understanding right from the start and never questioned anything I said, if not for further clarifications! I regret not mentioning the grey area and demisexuality; in retrospect, I should have probably done that, but I was mostly following his questions and it didn't really come to mind. Still, I think the interview in itself was awesome and led by an awesome interviewer. At the end of the conversation, he wished me happiness and to find the love of my life, even though I did tell him that I don't think it's strictly necessary for me to be happy :) Props all the way :D Awesome experience. Plus, after this, Elia and I took the underground again and parted ways; I went to the Milan Cathedral and visited it (it was gigantic and very pretty!), then visited the Sforza Castle which was just a couple kilometres away from it. I felt a bit disappointed that most of the castle wasn't accessible because it was dedicated to the art museums... I wanted to go, but I turned up late: the ticket boot had been closed down 15 minutes before I completed the castle trip. Too bad! I walked back to the Cathedral and took the underground again to go back to the hotel. My feet were endlessly protesting for the 6-hour long, non-stop walk, so I just sat down a bit and brewed myself two cups of tea just because I could (hey, not all hotels provide you with a water boiler and original English tea brews as freebies, and FUCK YEAH ENGLISH TEA :D): Then I waited for dinner time, had dinner (omg I ate delicious stuff :o I'm STILL full), and connected to the hotel wifi. I thought "Whee, report time!" but AVEN was blocked. At that point, I had two options: a) Give up and get decent sleep, or b) Stay up late watching Pokémon Origins ...Like a) was even an option :P GO POKEMON GO (Also, the special was really really REALLY awesome. It lives up to the games in spite of being so short. I highly recommend it to any Pokémon fan!) Okay, that's enough text. Now let's have a look at the certainly-not-professional-but-still-pretty pictures I took on my walk :) Milan Cathedral: Sforza Castle: Other city views: Five stars experience all around, would do it again anytime! Lambda Corvus
Sounds like an amazing trip. I'm glad all went well. Way to represent the community! I cannot think of many people who are as equally qualified as you to tell the world about asexuality. Good work. The photos are also very well done.

Guest
I saw myself on TV today :D It was really odd (and I don't like my voice), but I'm happy to say that, in spite of the cuts they made, the overall quality was good and they included most of the important points made about libido, romantic orientations and asexuality not being a choice. :)I told my friends about it and I think someone might have it registered, but I'm not sure. Cinnamonstars, were you able to record it?
