I'm pomogendered!

So I found something called pomosexual. The definiton for it is:

Pomosexuality refers to a nonorientation in which people disregard sexual labels altogether. In the world of pomosexuality, the superficial orientation identifications (a.k.a. gay, straight, etc.) are insignificant and not what people should accord to.

Is it possible to be pomogendered too? That I really don't care about gender labels and (what genders really are) gender/sex-roles. Is it someone else here who also don't care about gender-labels and want humans to simply be humans?

Edit: Something went wrong with the last sentence, will try to figure it out :P

I guess it works but I usually just stick with "I really don't care, keep guessing"

Wouldn't pomosexual just be a sexual label in itself?

Same with pomogendered, wouldn't that be a gender identity?

That's kind of contradictory.

(The underlying statement is that I don't believe in gender-roles and don't have a need to define people based on gender)

I, too, don't identify with the concept of gender, and don't differentiate people based on gender. I would have liked to live in a world where there is no gender at all. I usually identify, alternatively, as genderfree, genderless or agender.

That said, I do accept that the concept of gender is very important for other people, and for some even central to their identity. Some people go to extreme lengths to feel that their bodies/clothing/speech reflect their gender.

the superficial gender identifications (a.k.a. male, female, etc.) are insignificant and not what people should accord to.

Personally, I would never say that. This to me feels slightly disrespectful and erasing toward people who, unlike me, do care about gender and for whom gender is an important concept. I am not better or worse than anybody, and I am not in a position to say what is significant or superficial in others.

I can definitely identify with that! But I think I'll just stick to saying "I don't care what you are, just give me some of your fries."

Fascinating.

I definitely identify with the "humans are just humans" idea. Females and males (on both the sex and gender spectra) have always felt exacty the same to be around for me.

That said, I'm not sure I would classify my actual gender as "pomogendered". Maybe as a bit of an ideology, but not an actual gender...

Personally, I think qwair has a point here. There's a huge difference between not identifying with a concept and dismissing it altogether.

I can't see pomogendered being included in the gender dictionary anytime soon, but I'm amused by the concept. And, of course, you can use it if you want to. :P

There's a huge difference between these two statements:

1. The label(s) you chose for yourself are meaningless.

2. The label(s) you chose for yourself are meaningless to me.

Us non-labelers should try to stick to #2 and not make it seem as if we're imposing our views onto others.

I don't like how the definition of pomo-whatever says "and not what people should accord to." The word SHOULD is crossing the line into being judgemental and disrespectful.

PS: Am I the only one who read the title and thought it said pornogendered at first?

other than that, i don't have a problem with the terms pomosexual or pomogender, although in regards to gender i personally favor "gender apathetic".

Eh... Yes, I don't have a single care for my own gender... I don't really like that Pomo prefix otherwise...

I'd hazard a guess that label came from Tumblr... Somewhere in the Internet chain ;)

I think that would be great, given that I am technically female and only attracted to gay males, but then I think about the flip side. If another female fell for me I couldn't do it. I lack the female "programming" per se and have difficulty getting along with/understanding other females...
