ithaca
Is it really possible we don't have a thread for this? :o Please share songs you really really like in your own language (or another one)! If you feel like posting a translation to English, that's cool too, but not necessary! Today I'm obsessing (again, not the first time) on the Italian version of The Circle of Life, which is the only one I knew growing up. It is really beautiful and I prefer it to the English one (which doesn't happen often). Here I give you the translation to English: The Circle of Life [MS: Male Singer] [bS: Background Singer] [FS: Female Singer (lead)] [MS:] Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [There comes a lion] [bS:] Sithi uhhmm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion] [MS:] Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [There comes a lion] [bS:] Sithi uhhmm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion] Ingonyama [MS:] Siyo Nqoba [We're going to conquer] [bS:] Ingonyama Ingonyama nengw' enamabaal [it's a lion and a tiger] [repeats 5] Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se-to-kwa!) Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana) [repeats 1] (yes, that's the same, surprised? :P ) And one day you realize you exist That you are part of the world as well Not out of your own choice And you wonder why We're here, because of whose will? Then a sunray 'hugs' you, And your eyes get coloured with blue And that's enough for you Every doubt goes away And the whys don't exist anymore It's a merry-go-round This life that spins with us And never stops And every life knows That it will be reborn In a flower Which will never end* (*repeat twice) There is another part of song in the non-Disney version, but I prefer this one. Come on you all non-English people! Post your favourite non-English songs!

trumpetchick
I know there's an English version of this song, but I love the Spanish version. It's so much more...oooohhh I love it. Jlo and Pitbull: Ven a bailar Songs are just better in Spanish than English, aren't they? I don't know why that is. Maybe it's because we hear English all the time, but not so much Spanish. La Compliante de la Butte (French): O Mio Babbino Caro (Italian): Because I love opera (even though she's using a microphone in this performance) and I love Anna Netrebko and I freaking love this song. Speaking of opera... I absolutely love this performance because Damrau goes into her whistle range (AKA those really, really high notes). Queen of the Night (German):
