Oh, I forgot to post a couple more good local songs. Here's one that I think has a great and catchy melody.

Translation I did (because I still have nothing better to do and translating is actually kinda fun):

I want to get drunk

Because you're gone

I'm looking at the mirror

And I'm alone

The hibiscus you gave back to me when we broke up

Is still planted

Like my feelings, even if you pour beer on it

It will not die

Darling, please don't forget

The days that should not have disappeared

The children and the house we planned to have

All of these were lost when you left me

So now

Pour the beer into my throat

To drown my suffering heart

Each drop, so delicious

What do I really want

This beer or your love?

I want to get high

Because I'm a loser

I'll smoke anything, even a muffler

I'll get a beer and boil it in a pot

And I'll inhale its smoke

I'll do anything

To not think that

I'm now alone

Pour the beer into my throat

To drown my suffering heart

Each drop, so delicious

What do I really want

This beer or your love?

Darling, please don't forget

The days that should not have disappeared

The children and the house we planned to have

All of these were lost when you left me

So now

Pour the beer into my throat

To drown my suffering heart

Each drop, so delicious

What do I really want

This beer

This beer

This beer or your love?

This other song is one known by all Filipinos. I'm not sure why, but it makes me cry every time I hear it...

My translation:

In the Swaying of the Cradle

I hope my old days never fade away

When I was a young child in Mother's arms

I want to hear my beloved mother's song again

A song of love while I was in my cradle

I hope my old days never fade away

When I was a young child in Mother's arms

I want to hear my beloved mother's song again

A song of love while I was in my cradle

In my deep, peaceful sleep

The stars guarded me

They were my keeper

In Mother's arms,

Life was heaven

My heart full of pain

Longs for the sway of the cradle

I hope my old days never fade away

When I was a young child in Mother's arms

I want to hear my beloved mother's song again

A song of love while I was in my cradle

In my deep, peaceful sleep

The stars guarded me

They were my keeper

In Mother's arms,

Life was heaven

My heart full of pain

Longs for the sway of the cradle

I hope my old days never fade away

When I was a young child in Mother's arms

I want to hear my beloved mother's song again

A song of love while I was in my cradle

I wish to sleep in my old cradle again, Mother

Oh, Mother...

Lapin kesä (engl. Summer in Lappland) recorded in 2013 by one-man band Scarlett (aka. Petri Hietala) & vocalist Tiina Parkkinen based on the lyrics of the Finnish national poet Eino Leino of the early 1900's.

Raili Eronen & Twangers performing an old Ukraine classic song of the year 1843 Mustat silmät (Black eyes in English). The band is a unique combination of folk & surf & tango & thrash metal moshing. Mrs. Raili Eronen (pseudonyme) herself is one 65yo (so do they say) former acrobate & ballet dancer, I remember she has been called earlier Nina Hagen, nowadays Amy Winehouse, of Finland.

Truth and Lies

How come I haven't found this thread until now? o_o This is totally my place! :D

First, I will share a beautiful personal favorite of mine:

Конь - ЛЮБЭ

Russian and English lyrics below:

Выйду ночью в поле с конем
Ночкой темной тихо пойдем

Мы пойдем с конем по полю вдвоем
Мы пойдем с конем по полю вдвоем

With my stallion at night, I shall leave for the fields
By the night so dark and silent we will go
We shall walk together by the fields, my steed and I

We shall walk together by the fields, my steed and I

In the fields the stars are shinning
No one can be seen around
Only my stallion and I, walking by the fields at night
Only my stallion and I, walking by the fields at night

Let me mount my stallion
Take me across the fields, away!
By the endless fields of mine
By the endless fields of mine

Let me glance at the sky
To see where the the fields give birth to dawn
Oh that cowberry color, scarlet sunrise!
Is that place real, or is it not

My little fields, my streams
Lights of villages afar
Golden rye and curly flax
I'm in love with Russia, I'm in love

The year will be good and the harvest heavy
We've been through much, we'll make it through once more
Sing now, golden rye, sing now curly flax
Sing about Russia, about my love!

I will share another song, sung in Norwegian and Swedish:

Om Du Vil Ha Meg - Vidar Johnsen & Peter Nordberg

Translation is in video:

My beloved Mariska Veres sang in four languages, including English, which she didn't speak. This one is in her native Dutch:

German (her mother's native language):

Hungarian (her father's native language):

Thank you for your contribution. We have in Finland some female artists like Laila Kinnunen (r.i.p.), Tamara Lund, and Carola Standertskjöld (r.i.p.), who had quite same mentality & mood like Mariska Veres. ... Noticing, that your fourth link did not function.

My fourth link functioned fine when I tested it. Well, I'll try again:

Also, if you like Mariska, check out this thread: http://www.asexuality.org/en/topic/116964-mariska-veres-appreciation-thread/

Truth and Lies

A couple more songs for your listening pleasure:

沒有人要的孩子 - Evan Yo

I think the translation of the song name would be Abandoned Child? Maybe. I'm not sure.

If you don't enjoy anime, just try to ignore the visuals and the background voices. I picked this video because it has the translated lyrics in it. :>

Shinkirou - Loveholic

Thank you for your kind contribution. Pictures of horses were fantastic. Liked the lyrics of both songs.

I'm glad you liked them. :> Just two gems I've found over the years.
