GuardianAtDawn
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21739640 That's the link to the published comments, which has a link to the original article at the top. The very last comment is from an asexual, which is actually pretty unusual from the BBC ... The other responses from very spiritual/religious people are pretty much what I was expecting, so Helen's comments caught me by surprise in a good way =D I have to admit I sent in a comment of my own explaining why the original article (linked at the top of the page above) was offensive to asexuals because the only "expert" they quoted straight-out said that not wanting/needing sex was abnormal. Not surprised they didn't contact me for further questions xDD
Tender Yoshi
I saw the very same article, and was hoping someone would chime in with an asexual viewpoint. I too was a little offended by the implication of the article - that not wanting sex was "abnormal" and next to impossible - and also by the fact there was no mention of asexuality at all, even though the article was about sexless relationships - as if we weren't a factor and didn't even exist. I thought Helen's response was excellent - very well put. I suspect that hers was not the only response along these lines, but that the BBC selected the best to represent the asexual viewpoint. Who knows - with any luck, it will be followed by an understanding BBC article about asexuality. We can only hope!
