used to have severe eczema from early childhood through to late 20s then I learned:

* I am highly allergic to chlorine

*there's a lot of things in most soaps, shampoos, clothes & dishwashing liquids that I cant tolerate without breaking into eczemaceous rashes

*I am otherwise quite hardy.

It was via a process of trial & error, experimentation, and banishment of wellknown household cleansers, that I ceased to have allergic responses.

Annnd, ceasing to travel overseas! Chlorine turns up *everywhere* - which is really good if you arnt allergic to it!

I was lactose intolerant as a baby, but grew out of that. I used to also be allergic to cats, but I'm growing out of that, too... instead I'm becoming allergic to something outdoorsy. Hmm..

Various types of pollen, some types of dogs and mould, feathers (in pillows/duvets), and have a bit of a milk intolerance. Oh yes, and medication containing erytromycin.

Dust, mold, and pollens for me. Pretty typical. No others that I know of, although ibuprofin has a weird effect on me...but I don't think it's an allergy.

I'm alergic to wheat and dairy and am asthmatic but the asthma isn't regular asthma it's actually due to Alpha 1 deficiency - it's an enzime produced by the liver that is used by the lungs.

I have seasonal allergies. Pollen and that stuff, cats, dust, and I'm possibly allergic to eggs. I get so sick when they're not cooked all the way through and I might be allergic to the bird. We have an African Grey Parrot and when I touch her cage, I have to wash my hands right after because if I touch my face/eyes, my eyes get so puffy. We had an episode of Tell-Tale Heart last week. It wasn't pretty.

Guest edward gorey's daughter

milk

chlorine (its not just in pools, its also in car exhaust)

chalk--is there something in this that is one of my other allergies?

leather

wool

latex

some cats

sometimes my paints (that makes me soo frustrated when that happens)

something related to alchohol

some soap smells

smoke (cig or candle).

down (like in comforters and pillows--feathers)

and occasionally I get allergic to something random for awhile if I am exposed to it too much, or eat too much of it. (like the soap thing, I had to carve soap for an art project over a couple days and it was just nauseating by the end *laughs*)

I'm told I have a seasonal allergy, but at this point I don't really want to know :)

All my allergies surfaced pretty much at about 16-19 years of age--but didn't get figured out till I was about 23.

so yeah--being asexual that's fine and sober.

this change into being allergic--quite a bit harder on me. It makes me worried about traveling--with my milk allergy. And makes me sad about how un-spontaneous I have to be now. :( I feel like I have truly outed myself now...

My allergies weren't listed :( so I picked More than one of the aboves, even though they're not 'above' so much

Anyway, I'm allergic to some make up. It brings me out in a rash, but it depends on the type. Of course I don't actually know which type so...

My second and only other known allergy is to a plant - I know it as stickyweed, but according to wikipedia it's officially named Galium aparine, and has a lot of other different names (Cleavers, Clivers, Goosegrass, Stickywilly, Catchweed, and Coachweed, apparently). I'm not quite sure what part of it I'm allergic to, but I think it's the stickiness since I only get the rash when I touch it.

That's it. And yeah, my allergies only give me rashes. How tame.

If I have any allergies, then I'm still to find out what they are, so until that day comes, if indeed it ever does, I claim to have no allergies.

I'm allergic to certain kinds of deodorant, which doesn't appear to fit any of the options in the poll. No voting for me!

I have mild asthma so I get a reaction to animals(like cats, I guess) and dusty stuff. But animals and dusty stuff also make my eye and nose run, so I ticked 'more than one'.

I'm allergic to earwigs. I found out when I got bitten/stung by one. Other than that, nothing.

I think I'm allergic to some sort of pollen, as I get miserable around the same time of year every year, but I'm not sure.

I feel like a very ill little girl after reading this. I was 'more than one of the above'. I have a serious allergy to peanuts, a mild allergy to most other nuts, a mild allergy to cats, and a mild allergy to dust. I've had these verified by a specialist, so it's not hypochondria. :P

I have an allergy to pollen (hay fever) and frozen "bloodworms" which are in fact frozen midge larvae. Which are these guys. http://www.thechronicflyfisher.com/bldwrmlarva.JPG

They come frozen as fish food. I occasionally break out in a small rash sometimes, along with bee stings. I get a rash after being stung by a bee.

My eyes water up and I cough or sneeze if I move between different types of air too quickly. Like if I walk outside on a day when the wind is strong and sea air reaches town, high pollen or if I move from hot to cold air. Weird, huh?

I once used a new deodorant and was covered in red spots within the hour.

Apart from those minor things, I'm allergy free :).

Ah, I forgot some more allergies in my other reply! I'm allergic to a particular type of bandaid (the one that has lumpy bits all over it). I only discovered this a couple of years ago when I had to have an operation and they covered the cuts with bandaids - a week later, nothing had healed and pus was starting to come out of the wounds. I went back to the doctor and when she took off the bandaids we discovered I had swollen bandaid-shaped rashes around all the cuts!

I've also developed an allergy to something (probably a chemical, I suspect it might be flouride, because it only seems to be water in Western countries that causes the problem) that's present in tap water. Whenever I take a shower, the skin on my hands and feet flakes and falls off. Fortunately this is limited to my hands and feet only, but I still have to wear plastic gloves in the shower and only wash my hands with a separate handwash. This started when I was 18, but it took me until this year to figure out that it was tap water which was causing it.

Pretty much anything "natural". Except for rocks. I don't think I'm allergic to rocks.

pollen of all types -- trees, ragweed, flowers

dust, dustmites

mold

pretty much any animals except for fish. Yes, including the cat I live with.

Thankfully no food. At least not that I know of.

In the non-natural category, I am also allergic to Tylenol (acetominephen), Dove soap, and pot. Finding out that last one was fun.

I pretty much have symptoms year round -- pollen in spring and summer, leaf mold in fall, and house dust in winter. I take drugs, and exercise helps too. When I am under a lot of stress, I break out into full body hives. THAT's fun.
