Some version of Word let you choose your own assistant. So instead of Clippy, you could have something cute like a kitty.

Certainly remember the alternate assistants, there was a dog, a cat, a ball, the world, clippy and maybe one or two others... Clippy used to annoy me... "It looks like you're trying to do x" and it wasn't usually what I was trying to do at all!

I even remember the time before Clippy, when we used WordPerfect on DOS-systems and when shift + F7 meant: print :) Our screen knew two colors: black and yellow.

I was hiding in my parents' storage room yesterday and saw the box for our Adam computer from the mid 80s. The word processor printed as you typed it like a typewriter.

I wish we had our Old computers. I had some computer games (on a floppy disk) that were quite enjoyable.

And there's still a floppy drive on your computer? It's less common to even see CD-ROM drives on computers these days.

What amazes me is the amount of innuendo in computer memory

To paraphrase Voltaire, if it didn't line up with existing innuendo it would be necessary to invent some. ;)

What amazes me is your amazement... Cause from where I'm standing you can find a significant amount of innuendo no matter where you look :P

You're turning 30 in June? It was a good age for me. A lot of important changes happened.

Yes I am! Thank you for your outlook. According to most people I know, a lot of things change once you are 30, so I am looking forward to it.

I once had to endure someone's obvious delight that the word you quote could itself be an in-your-end-oh!
