I don't have an e-reader yet and I'm not planning on buying one for now; I wouldn't really need it. I prefer resorting to local libraries when there's something I want to read. I'll eventually convert myself to e-books though, most probably everyone will.

I've been mentally whining to myself about the sony reader I got for christmas, especially lately. I've hardly used it- I actually really don't like it. The battery runs out very quickly, and I find it hard to read on it. I just find it harder to get sucked into whatever I'm reading- instead I end up squinting at the screen, shaking it around a bit and fiddling with the 'pages', inevitably screwing them up and then contemplating killing the damn thing. I know it seems strange, but I personally have wondered whether or not I just can't read it because the words aren't spread across two pages that I can turn with my own two hands. It's like it's too hard to focus on such a small space, and like I'm not interacting with the story (by that I mean there are no pages for me to fiddle with, making it harder to concentrate somehow, and if I can't remember what happened on the next page, it's hard to turn back. F*cking reader), and ugh, I just hate it. I hope it doesn't catch on. I probably will (already has) but I still wish it won't.

I would like to get one, perhaps I will at Christmas.

(There was no option for 'no' on the first question so I clicked 'other'.)

I absolutely hate reading books on anything other than a computer screen. I currently own a Nook and I have it rooted so I can install Android applications on it. To be honest, I use it more for watching movies and TV shows than actually reading books since I hate reading books in general.

I'm am excited to have just bought a Kobo a little under a week ago! I've downloaded a few freebies, and bought two books for it already! Just fyi - Kobo is not tied to Borders, as it is apparently available at Best Buy, Future Shop, not sure where all else, besides Chapters/Indigo in Canada. Someone mentioned e-books being more expensive, but for the ones I've looked at the e-books have all been cheaper, plus I do use my library a lot (which is why the insistence that my e-reader work for ePub format (the format Overdrive uses).)

I chose Kobo because it's better for Canada (Nook got ruled out right off for this), plus you can use it for library books (someone already mentioned Overdrive). That's what ruled out a Kindle for me right off (though apparently Kindle is working with Overdrive to come up with something later that people can user for library books).

My main reasons for deciding to buy an e-reader is for travelling and for fat books. :)

I have to admit that I haven't yet read a book on it, though I've read through all the help and getting started info that come on it.

I've read blogs on my computer. Not sure if that counts.

When the Sony ereader first came out I asked if they did any non-fiction for it, as I don't read fiction. I was told in the bookshop that only novels were available for the device, so I didn't investigate any further.

I like the look of the Kindle...I picked up a display model recently in a shop and had a wee play with it. I'm not opposed to digital reading devices in any way....it's only the lack of anything that I would like to read on that format that puts me off.
