I am not repulsed by the idea that other people do it, but when I think about someone doing the more intimate parts to me I cringe. It doesn't bother me in movies because I know it's not real, though porn films (the two I've seen) were enough to make me never want to touch another human being in any way ever again. What is the deal with the microscopic detail in those things? If I'd wanted anatomy lesson I would've stayed awake in biology at university.

When someone says the word "sex" to me I usually think "power play" because that's what sex usually is: someone exerting or relinquishing power, it's rarely about pleasure or love or the things popular media tells us it's about. The second most likely thing to appear in my mind is PG 13 rolling around, cuddling, canoodling, which doesn't bother me at all.

However, I voted "Yes" in the poll, because I consider the idea of me having sex with someone else repellent.

i voted no because in general i can watch/read/think about other people having sex with no queasiness, although i want nothing to do with anything oral. i guess i just accept that sex a part of the larger world we live in, although at this moment i have no strong desire to participate in this aspect of it. sex is totally fine for those who want it and "use" it responsibly -- safely and without psychological abuse. i would also have to say that the small part of me that isn't asexual is probably celibate due to a fairly healthy fear of STDs.

The thought of sex: Yes.

Seeing sex: Yes. Damn that guy who tricked me into the porn pics.

The thought of me having sex: *barf*

I was born on a Sunday and I'm not gay......or hetero. <g>

Worthless Poster

I look at sex purely scientifically. I find it... intriguing, but I don't think I'd ever be able to go on a 3 day sex binge or whatnot, or do anytihng decidedly kinky. I have no intention is staying a virgin forever, if for no reason other than pure curiosity, but I'm also in NO rush at all whatsoever to have it heh It seems gross and I'm very obsessive-complusive so I'm not sure how I'd react and it wouldn't last long... I guess I can STAND the idea of it, in theory. It's gonna take me a LOOOONG time to actually do it, though.

Sex: there are about 6 billion people on this planet. I am one of them.

The remaining 5,999,999,999 can take care of the sex issue.

Make that 5,999,999,998!! :x I don't want the stuff either!! lol

Make that 5,999,999,997.

Some asexuals were just not interested in having sex, and some asexuals (like me), were bloody repulsed by the thought of it!

I WOULD have asked a better question like, "How do you feel about sex?" with different options available, but I found out this can only be a "Yes" or "No" poll

So, what'll it be? Am I part of a minority or a majority? (grins)

Hmmm ........ What aspect repulses you?

To be repulsed by it totally seems a little strange if you take it too the extreme. Asexuality is about sex. Can you discuss the topic without flying off the handle or do you look at things in a balanced way?

Most people have never heard of asexuality. How do you explain it to them before they can switch off or come up with an odd view of it and you?

Some people would look at someone who is revolted by it all to be cold and unable to love someone or be able to show affection for another.

You can't explain why you feel a certain way  Some people like some things, some people feel indifferent about them, some people are revolted by them.

I'm disgusted by the squelchiness of the act itself, more than anything. As far as I'm concerned, that area's only meant to be wiped after using the bathroom. The idea of two people sticking their toilet areas together, or (ugh) putting anything else into that region, like tongues or hands or earlobes or whatever... It doesn't seem romantic in the least. Just gross :x

LOL!! That's easy to answer :D I don't explain it to people if they don't ask first. If they ask, but only seem to be picking a fight about it, then I don't bother. I just make a crack about it. However, if they're really interested, then I explain it, and they're usually open-minded enough that they don't have an odd view of it.

Do they get an odd view of me? Everybody has an odd view of me, so I don't let it get to me if they develop one, too

Heck, you never know! I might be considered cold, but it's hard for me to tell. What do you think? Do my posts reflect an utter lack of emotion and empathy? Do I seem reptilian and heartless?

Your post shows a lot of emotion, even anger and frustration.

Not sure about the reptilian side though

I'm not repulsed by sex, indeed (and speaking hypothetically only) I think I would consent to it if it meant I could be in a close relationship with someone I cared about. Only other option is "You be my boyfriend, but you can have sex with other people, 'cause I know you need it". But no way in Hell would I enjoy it.

Oogie, what's this about a reptilian side?

Okay, so maybe I should moisturize my skin once in a while

Well it seems we have come down to what it's all about. The idea of attempting to have sex with a reptile is not for me, with or without moisturiser :)

So far I have seen how a lot of people have a problem with sex on a physical level and it's a no go in any way.

I have to admit to having sex with others in my past. although it did nothing for me. I felt used and it raised the expectations of my partner (yet more trouble ahead)

So as the title says "are you revolted by sex" my answer is yes. That does raise many more the questions about how you deal with it and keep your sanity.

I just don't have sex

EDIT: (reads the "sanity" comment again) Are you implying I had any sanity to begin with?

I know that I am. In fact, when I came here last year, I think most people were shocked at just how repulsed I am by it....strong choice of words I used, I believe. It just grosses me out :P

Yeah, I sort of am... I mean, I don't think everyone should be, but I have personal space issues at a certain point, and the whole process seems rather... invasive... to me.

I'm in the revolted category. The positions are ludicrous and so undignified and then there is the mess; I can't really understand why anyone does this for any reason other than the social pressures. Doing it by choice and for fun? What, are they insane? Go ahead but I'll pass, thank-you.

I don't even want to think about oral. I thought the phrase "toilet areas" by oogieboogie was perfect. I personally don't want to put my tongue in any toilet areas. I can't stand it when a dog tries to lick my face because I know what else a dog can and does lick - dog toilet areas. People toilet areas seem just as gross when considering things I'd want in my mouth.

I'm just - disinterested: over the years I've learned rather more than I ever wanted to know about all kinds of sex. Only the cruel and exploitative parts disgust or anger me. The rest are just giggle material or - nothing.

Disinterest is the only feeling I can dredge up for sex also.

The thought of it is not repulsive, just indifferent and maybe a little annoying.

Anything sexual involving other people doesn't bother me too much, but if I try to apply it to me or if it involves me then yes I am totally disgusted at the thought. For example I am only mildly uncomfortable watching sex scenes in films (I used to be terrible, I have learned ways to tolerate it) but I have never and will never be comfortable myself about sex.
