Maybe they don't put you right up to the wall every time. That's all I can think of. *shrugs*

I used to think I was pretty tall for a chick at 5'7" until I met my best friend and my husband. My best friend is a 6' tall chick and my husband is 6'9". I get to be the short one now!!!

Irony, thy name is Mizkitty.

Sorry.

Well, to me, you are pretty tall. But, that's not saying much. :)

I'm a little over 5'7" in the evening. Almost 5'8" when I first wake up.

This seems weird to me because I was 5'6" when I got my chauffer's license at age 21. I assumed I was full grown and never bothered to change it on my license. I have no idea when I grew almost 2 more inches, but I just discovered it a few months ago.

Greybird, that has happened to me as well. I was 5"3 from age 17-27. When I was 27, I somehow went from 5"3 to 5"4!

I'm 5ft 1 1/2" my husband is 6ft 2, my eldest son 5ft 10" and myyoungest 6ft 4". I rule the roost though at home. I feel I live in the land of the Giants.

Matthew my eldest son has severe epilepsy and when he has a seizure I have to hold him upright until it is over or pick him up of the floor. I suffer from a lot of strain injuries.

My Mum was boating that she was taller than me the other day until we measured each other she has lost an inch and is now 5ft 1" She was not a happy Bunny. She still is the boss though

I don't have a problem with food shopping I justask someone to get things of the shelf for me.

I feel short peple are a lot more aggressive than tall people what do you think?

I'm 6'2" when i can be bothered to stand up straight. Its ok being tall, people don't mess me as much as they would if I were short I suppose and reaching high things is good. But I have slightly(about an inch) longer arms then is average for my height so I look silly in long sleeved shirts.

You know, V, my arms are longer than typical, as well. Almost all of my long-sleeve shirts stop just abover my wrist bone--drives me mad. To make up for it, my legs are short (also called being long-bodied) so I have to roll most of my jeans under about an inch. So annoying.

Whut oh. I think sacred's our tallest member. Liver, stand up straighter! Then again, Sacred's closer so he can help all the vertically challenged AVENers with the high shelves.

Yes, that's true. When I'm speaking to people who are significantly shorter than me, I always feel like I'm speaking down to them. Which I am! (but not like *that* :D )

Well, maybe. We've got to be agressive to be paid attention to, I guess.

I can imagine. :) *Feels for all the tall people.*

somewhere between 5'1 and 5'2...the petites sections at stores are nice, but they always seem to be clothing that isn't totally suitable for some people.

Cate- I'm the opposite to you. I have shortish arms, and long legs. In jean stores here you can get normal, or long legged pants. Most people are too short in the legs to wear normal ones, and my legs are just the right length to wear the long ones.

Plus my legs are different lengths- I think about 2cm on last xray...

Yeah, I agree about the petite section. I think the manufacturers think that since we're all short, we'll like their childish looking clothes. What's with that anyway?

Or uber-professional. I want college student clothing, darn it!

Apropos the phenomenon of being taller after lying down all night; well..there was once something of a cult 'B' movie, called 'The Attack of the Fifty-foot Woman'.

Blimey, imagine what she was like first thing in the morning. In fact, I actually watched it at the cinema, on an early matinee jobbie, and she was still way over 55' then. Everything's relative I suppose..

Me too! I'm 5'8"-ish. My mom is 5'6"-ish. When we sit next to each other, her head is a good 2 inches above mine. And I've had a lot of people tell me my legs are disproportionally long.

...which isn't a bad thing.

(...were your pants always too short in grade school? Mine were, and I always got teased for wearing "highwaters," and now all my pants are ridiculously long to make up for the trauma of my youth! ::dramatically thrusts back of hand to forehead:: ;-) )

I'm aparently big.

I'm 6'1 and well built. I don't realize this though. When people start saying "He's bigger than wombat". i go..."i'm not that big" and they all just nodd and say "yeah, you are"

So...apparently i'm big. I have like 100 pictures i am in somwhere on my website....Probebly should organize them...but i don't wanna.

But yeah. 6'1". Apparently big.

im 5-10.5 but was told this year i am now 5.10...am i shrinking? :)

I feel like I'm the perfect height for a guy, maybe so? But in dating, I've never had a preference, I've dated short and tall guys. I think shorter people tend to be smarter, tall people tend to rely on personality more...how does that sound, nonsense???

6 foot 3 here, advantages, being able to help short people by getting things for them in a store. Disadvantages, stretching around ceiling fans (OW!) Kind of wish I were less tall by a bit so I didn't stick out so much.

Just by your avatar I'd say you're well built.

Compared to me, you'd be a giant. (As would most people here, or anywhere for that matter.)

Ow. :( It's too bad they don't make soft ceiling fan blades.

My mom was measuring me for clothes, since I'm a little too picky... I don't like loose stuff, which is what's in fashion, so it's hard to find stuff. She was following directions from a book on modifying female clothing, so there are a few irrelevant measurements in there... :D

I enjoy being relatively small and light -- I still have pretty good leg muscles from years of figure skating, so I jump and bounce all over the place and climb and walk onto random objects. It's great!
