Incredibly Ace Moments

I thought that being horny was equitable to having the overwhelming need to pee. Apparently it isn't. I still kind of think that way because I've never been horny before. I didn't realize that was a thing that happened to people in real life. You see a person and your body starts to get hot? Is that not a heat stroke?

i mean for me it's more like intense restlessness, like when you've been sitting still for a long time and need to get up and move around

About a year ago I was in the shower and some things just *HIT ME*.
The fact that I had been on dates and didn't even realize they were dates.
I had recently moved to the Los Angeles area and some friends reached out to go out.
We did. And we laughed and shared stories and they sure seemed to be gazing at me alot, with these weird looks too.
I thought "whatever, maybe they were tired". As they kept asking if I wanted to stay over but nah. I gotta go home and listen to music and stuff.

They stopped reaching out, which was weird - cuz now I live close!

10 years later.
I realized these were dates, a full DECADE afterwards.

ace dating.

Lmao that happened to me at school and I wanted him to be my friend but he flirted with me and asked if I wanted to hook up with him? Then I was like oh no...

This might be a bit nsfw, but has anyone else specifically googled "attractive naked man"/"attractive naked woman" to try to see if you might feel attracted to literally any of them?

...I have more than once and nope, still asexual.

I went to an art college and we would occasionally draw naked models, I always thought that it was strange to watch the guys in the room try to hide their crotch then one of them got up and I understood why. I just don't see how looking at someone naked is enough to make someone horny, for me I just feel like they are another person without clothes lol.

Same here. An ace moment for me is also rarely or never getting turned on.

When I was I wanna say 13 I realized that I still hadn't wanted to have sex with anyone yet. I had thought about it all day and was very thrown off by it because all my friends were all very obviously into people like that. Anyway, after a long day of talking to myself about it and still being confused I went to my mom and just straight up said "Hey... uhm. At what point do I start wanting to have sex with people? How will I know when it happens?" I was fully under the impression that there was like a magic age in which I would start liking people like that or that there was like a process to it that I just wasn't aware of.

I don' think I have ever seen my mom look at me as confused as she did! Understandably so because I don't think most teens ask that to their parents. I think she just said "You meet a person and you want to have sex with them?" and left it at that but that's one of my more iconic asexual moments In my opinion and looking back on it now it is hilarious to me.

So I've been biking to work. It's 14 miles each way, on a lovely, paved trail, and Virginia gets hot. The trail is frequently used by walkers, joggers, cyclists, etc. So of course some men go shirtless. And my reaction to seeing them is generalized frustration, envy, and fury because I can't do that. Curse societal norms. I don't have enough of a chest to need support, and I'd like to not have to fuss with a top in every situation. But here we are.

Anyway, fits in with the theme lately cause it's half naked men I feel no attraction to.

LOL this was me, too. In 6th grade, we had sex ed, and I remember thinking, "isn't it kind of early for this?" And in high school, when a classmate commented that another classmate was sleeping around a lot, I thought, "oh, people are having sex already?" Being ace didn't cross my mind because I didn't have a reference. I just thought at some point I'd want to have sex, but had no idea when. ....and it never happened.

Pretty much exactly me as well. There was also a certain amount of disbelief that my high school classmates might be having sex. But mostly it was just me, waiting for a feeling that never came.

I didn’t even know sex was a thing until well after what I’m guessing is normal. I remember in 5th or 6th grade someone asked me if I knew what it was and I said no, so he told me it was clapping my hands in a certain way and I believed him. By that point, I had heard the term used in reference to inappropriate stuff, so I avoided clapping my hands that way for years.

Me too! When i was in 11th grade, I found out some of my classmates had already had sex in 9th grade and i was shocked

When i was in 6th grade my best friend became obsessed with orlando bloom. She introduced him as a character into the rping we played with each other on chat, and made him kiss her. I was very uninterested in this development.

in 9th grade my friend asked me who i had a crush on and i just looked around the room and picked the 1st chair violin in our orchestra. He played well and was probably nice. My friend was like, "oooo~~~" while i just stared back at her blankly

its kinda fun to think back on these because it shows me that my asexuality was natural and not caused by childhood trauma or neglect

One of my friends was also obsessed with Orlando when we were about 14-16, and she used to write a lot of self-insert stories (one of those included the mention of a pregnancy test...) - which to this day she keeps on denying 😂😂

Not sure if this is the place for this. But this poem resonated with me in a Very Asexual sort of way:

I've had my fair share of this. I remember in 7th grade my health teacher was discussing s*xual harrassment and how there was one kid who kept touching other girls butts in the hallways to the point of the school needing security cameras and stuff in order catch him. When they did he said that he thought the girls had enjoyed getting touched. I remember being absolutely confused. I didn't think about it much. I also remembering watching educational films about s*xual harrassment in schools and how in the videos boys would try to touch girls butts, it just made no sense to me. When I connected the dots and realized what asexuality was it made much more sense why anyone in their right mind would try to do that.

I had another recent asexual moment though. I was at a famous museum and there was a room deticated to murals. But in that room was a GIANT photo of a bunch of nude people. It was apparently for protesting against vietnam. I had to look away as soon as I realized it was all straight up nudity. I remember thinking "Why the heck would they have this if anyone of any age can go look through these exhibits?" There were a lot of school-age children there, so I hope none of them stumbled upon the exhibit. Although it wasn't sexual in its context and was quite literally a photo of nude people standing next to each other infront of a white background, I couldn't imagine thinking that was particularly attractive or anything.

For once I got the sexual innuendo long before the allos.

I was passing a local supermarket and noticed they had a pride banner in the window. It said 'standing proud with the LGBT+ community'

Where I come from, standing proud means something completely different. I guess it should have read ' standing proudly with the LGBT+ community '.

I hid under a blanket when I first watched a sex/implied sex scene in a show. It wasn’t even that intense. It didn’t go into detail either.

I don't dislike the idea of sex. Though it's always kinda like an alien subject to me. I often read smut and react to it. Once I came to discuss this topic with my friend and she said she imagines herself in the smut she reads while I don't. She said she gets horny and masturbates too, she said it gets hard to control it. That's when I realized for the nth time the difference between her and me. I get horny a lot but it's like, "Okay, I got horny and feel like doing something about it. But choice is in my hands, imma just ignore it." And then it cools down.

I actually just went and googled it out of curiosity and my tired ace brain forgot that if you put “naked” in then it will return pictures of people without any clothes on, and I got immediately repulsed by the genitalia.

So uh, that kind of is an ace moment right there. I think my acceptance of nudity is…when people still have some clothes covering their body parts.

If I were to google this right now I would loose my job for looking at porn on the work computer, but the feeling is the same. I don't care to look at naked people cause there is really nothing that good looking about the naked body.

Feeling so much relief when the therapy office at my college sent out info. about sexual and romantic orientations. I was starting to realize that I didn't feel sexual attraction but didn't know there was a word for it. Thanks, stupid high school sex ed (or as it should be called, no sex ed).

I think they try hard to avoid the education part.

@nickolekuebler Indeed. The schools I went to were more concerned about letters on report cards and how many facts we could memorize instead of actually teaching us anything useful. I've learned so much more outside of school than I was in there, including topics around sex.

Yeah, I find I get much more aesthetic satisfaction from pics of people with clothes on. Especially certain kinds of clothes on certain types of people - feminine, yes; but also some costumes and such, too.

I was with a group of siblings/friends (who know I'm ace), and they decided they wanted to see if I could tell the difference between "cute" and "hot" people (I'm someone who rarely even gets aesthetic attraction, so honestly a better test first would probably have just been "good-looking" vs not, but *shrug*). Long story short, I failed dismally

I think I would too. I won't ever use those words to describe someone cause to me it implies something that I don't feel.

Oh, wow. I’m coming over all ace momenty now!

So, does this mean you can have hot people who aren’t cute? I guess I always assumed that if someone considered a person hot they’d also think they were cute.
