The boa Sexual Preference Scale

Many people find any thought of anal sex disgusting.

I find anal sex is downright GROSS! It's sex just for the sake of sex, it can't even be used to reproduce, and did I mention it's sickening?

Since that's my opinion about it though, all it means is that I don't look at gay porn, that I don't talk about anal sex, that I don't think about anal sex, and that I don't do anal sex. There, no problems :) If other people like it, they can have it all they want, as long as it's not in front of me hehe.

Hehe come to think about it, I have a similar opinion about straight sex

Live and let live . . .

I'll stick to my original saying about this! I don't care if other people have sex as long as I don't see it, hear it, or smell it :x

It's a scary world. What about the genderqueer movement in particular scares you

its a really radical break from traditional society

as corny as it sounds i think ill have to bring up family values

youth violence is caused by *bad parenting* (and genes)

if this catches on society could become far more violent

people will be less likely to fufill sex roles (even if theyre just societal constructs)

if there is no concept of male or female in society

there is no pressure to maintain a stable family structure

thus the rise in divorce rates

thus the rise in violence

sorry but i had to say it

My grandpa feels the same way

But that wasn't an insult! I actually agree with my grandpa on a lot of his ideas about bringing up kids, etc.

However, I think the "happy family" structure only works out if the people are comfortable in their gender roles. If they aren't, it'll just make them cranky :| So really, people should be just doing what feels right for them. Happy, loving parents make for happy, loving kids, right? RIGHT?? Well, okay... sometimes nice parents can have real jerks for kids, but I'm sure it USUALLY works out okay!!! :P lol

And that's all I have to say on this matter! :D

That's a fair enough attitude :P

Gay sex doesn't actually disgust me - it seems natural to me, but just not my thing. Str8 sex on the other hand revulses me completely. I try not to think about it and mention of certain acts can leave me looking for the nearest toilet. So I guess I can understand how some people feel about gay sex.

Back in the days when I had my own gay channel to run, we used to have to deal with "bashers" who came in just for the purpose of taunting and abusing us for being gay. Rather than being upset, we found these unwanted visitors so ridiculous that we amused ourselves screwing with their minds until they ran off screaming. The thing I noticed though is almost every last one of them was completely obsessed by anal sex! It was as if that's all gay people do 24 hours a day. I used to ask them why they were so obsessed about buttfucking and did they secretly want to try it etc ... you should have seen some of the reactions. :P

I do know though from various studies that many strongly homophobic people, especially homophobic young people, get measurably aroused when researchers show them gay porn, whereas more "balanced" attitude str8 people don't.

I wonder what the aphobics of the next decade will think of to trash asexuality with? :P I think whatever it is will bring us endless hours of amusement freaking them out.

Mr. Eyeball, I'm very confused with the reasoning here...and somewhat hurt. I have queer friends and an aunt who is a lesbian.

Are you implying that the genderqueer movement will ultimately bring about negative effects regarding the rearing of children?

I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion. Somehow I'm praying that I've misunderstood everything..Like Oogieboogie mentioned, happy parents breed happy children (usually). Regardless of sex or gender. :)

Hmmm. I think a lot of the later responses to this got lost somewhere.

Anyway. I resurrect this every few months, and we have a lot of new people lately, so I thought I'd trot it out again and see what kind of response it gets, if any.

The traditional sexual preference scale asks people to identify themselves on a scale from zero—exclusively heterosexual—to six—exclusively homosexual. This little exercise is an attempt to allow more inclusiveness, to account for more of the complexity that is involved in human sexuality, and to give those who use it more room to express who they find themselves to be, including an option not to answer any individual question and even to change the possible answers. Or change the question, for that matter.

That being said, most of the questions use the traditional zero-to-six scale. If you take this survey and wish to not answer a question for any reason, or feel that the way a question is phrased does not apply to you as you are and as it is written, answer with a dash: -. If you feel that you fall between two options, feel free to add a decimal to your answer. If more than one answer to a single question applies, answer with all the relevant numbers for that question. If you want to rewrite the options and assign other values to the numbers, feel free, and put an asterisk (*) after that number in your answer. (Make a record of your private scale for any question. Share it or not as you desire.)

The goal of this survey is not to be scientific (so no footnotes) or gather scientific information, but to serve as a stimulus for thought and conversation about who we experience ourselves to be. It is so unscientific that it even includes the possibility of answering adjacent and related questions in contradictory and illogical ways. Which is how a lot of us feel about sexuality. So here goes. For each answer, write down one or more numbers, or a dash. Separate the answers by commas.

1. What is your physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

Note: For this survey, true hermaphrodite is a person who has ovarian and testicular tissue in the same organ. Male psuedohermaphrodites have physically ambiguous genitalia but have testes (internal or external). Female pseudohermaphrodites have physically ambiguous genitalia but have ovaries. Choices 2, 3, and 4 are sometimes collectively referred to as intesex, and together occur in about 1 in 2,000 live births.

2. If you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person who is what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

Note: This is not physical, sexual involvement. If you do not experience romantic attraction, use a dash here.

3. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

4. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

5. If you engage in physical sexual activity with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

6. If you engage in sexual self-stimulation, it is most likely to be while thinking about people of what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

Note: If your thoughts are not about people, or not about anything in particular, use a dash or your own scale.

7. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? 0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

8. What cultural gender role do you self-identify as? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

9. If you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

10. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

11. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

12. If you engage in physical sexual activity with others, those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

13. If you engage in sexual self-stimulation, it is most likely to be while thinking about people of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

14. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

Hope this helps you think about things more inclusively. That is its only real purpose. This is perhaps just the start of something that could become a lot more complex. Or not.

Hey boa, this is really a nice scale.

I'm going to try it out.

5, female.

I don't engage in sexual activity with others. In the past it's been with males, with much affection and attraction for females.

I've always found it weird that whenever I have sexual fantasies, they are about women, but when I think of love, I think about men. I want to seduce a woman and stream through the universe with a man of light in ecstasy. Is this just the earth and sky in an odd dialogue?

Let's give this a shot:

Physiological gender? Male, 1. Easy.

Romantic attraction? In theory, it makes no difference to me - the flesh is a shell. Any or all of the above. In practice, social conditioning means the answer is 5, female.

Sexual stimulaion? I'll assume that means involuntary arousal. It's irrelavent, my arousal pops out of nowhere and leaves almost as quickly. Damned hormones. Presumably I'll grow out of it in a few years. --

Sexual attraction? Nil. --

Sexual activity? Nil. --

Self-stimulation? None of the above, really. When I do masturbate, which is rare, I think of either nothing or abstract regular polyhedra.. I find their precision vaguely stimulating. Nil. --

Physiological, nonphysical intimacy? What is that?

Cultural gender role? Asexual, 0.

Romantic attraction? See above.

Sexual stimulus? See above.

Sexual attraction? See above.

Activity? See above.

..Actually, see above for the rest.

1. What is your physiological gender?

5 (female)

2. If you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person who is what physiological gender?

It really really doesn't seem to matter what gender they are.

3. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender?

Doesn't happen a whole lot, but see q2.

4. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender?

See q3.

5. If you engage in physical sexual activity with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender?

As above.

6. If you engage in sexual self-stimulation, it is most likely to be while thinking about people of what physiological gender?

5 (female)

7. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender?

Could be any, but maybe some bias towards 5 (female).

8. What cultural gender role do you self-identify as?

5 (female)

9. If you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person of what cultural gender role?

See q2.

10. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role?

See q3.

11. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role?

See q3.

12. If you engage in physical sexual activity with others, those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role?

See q3.

13. If you engage in sexual self-stimulation, it is most likely to be while thinking about people of what cultural gender role?

5 (female) or 6 (genderqueer)

14. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what what cultural gender role?

See q7.

(I should add in a disclaimer that I seem to change around a fair bit with this sort of thing, so these answers apply to my current/recent feelings but not necessarily to my entire past or future or anything.)

0 = Lacking physical genitalia. 1 = Male. 2 = Male pseudohermaphrodite. 3 = True hermaphrodite. 4 = Female pseudohermaphrodite. 5 = Female. 6 = Combination of physical attributes not found on list.

1. physiological gender?

1

2. romantic attraction...physiological gender?

- (I don't experience romantic attraction at all, or haven't at least)

(I'm defining "sexual stimulation" as the desire for genital interplay with another person for the purpose of erotic stimulation, reproduction, etc., as opposed to basic erotic stimulation in its most basic form)

3. sexually stimulated...physiological gender?

- (but basic erotic stimulation from what I can get it from, apart from what I defined as "sexual stimualtion", 0 and 6 predominately)

4. sexually attracted...physiological gender?

- (no attraction at all)

5. sexual activity...physiological gender?

- (I don't)

6. sexual self-stimulation...physiological gender?

- (I don't in the traditional sense. But if I'm doing something I get erotic stimulation from (that I don't consider "sexual") and if thinking about a type of physiology comes into play, then 0 and 6 most commonly)

7. psychological, nonphysical intimacy...physiological gender?

All, theoretically. (But I've had very, very few opportunities to "experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy" with another person. So I really don't know for sure.)

0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 2 = Female-to-male transsexual. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. 5 = Female. 6 = genderqueer.

8. cultural gender role?

1, predominately, also 0,6. Maybe a mix of about 40% male, 20% female and 40% undifferentiated.

9. romantic attraction...cultural gender role?

-

10. sexually stimulated...cultural gender role?

- (Irrelevant. Basic erotic stimulation I can get is independent of cultural gender. See 2 above)

11. sexually attracted...cultural gender role?

- (N/A)

12.sexual activity...cultural gender role?

- (N/A)

13. in sexual self-stimulation...cultural gender role?

- (Irrelevant)

14. psychological, nonphysical intimacy...cultural gender role?

- (simply due to insufficient experiences. See 7 above. Theoretically all, however.)

I just wanted to mention to mr_eyeball that studies comparing children of gay couples to children of straight couples found only one difference, the children of gay couples showed more tolerance overall. There were no other differences of emotional stability or violent tendencies.

Hope this helps you think about things more inclusively. That is its only real purpose. This is perhaps just the start of something that could become a lot more complex. Or not.

1. What is your physiological gender? 5 = Female.

2. If you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person who is what physiological gender? 1 = Male. But it's a VERY big "if" ... not the romantic sort ... (ask my husband!)

3. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? ---

4. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? ----

5. If you engage in physical sexual activity with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? ---

6. If you engage in sexual self-stimulation, it is most likely to be while thinking about people of what physiological gender? ---

7. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what physiological gender? 1 = Male. I think ...

8. What cultural gender role do you self-identify as? 0 = Asexual, (and bi-gendered too, if that matters)

9. IF you experience romantic attraction, it is most likely to be with a person of what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. 3 = Intersex. 4 = Male-to-female transsexual. . 6 = genderqueer. Just guessing, since I've never met any other than males ... but it's interesting to speculate.

10. If you are sexually stimulated by other people (they cause you to become sexually aroused), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role? ---

11. If you are sexually attracted by other people (you experience a desire to perform sexual acts with other people), those people are most likely to be of what cultural gender role? ---

14. If you experience deep psychological, nonphysical intimacy with others, those people are most likely to be of what what cultural gender role? 0 = Asexual. 1 = Male. (again ... guessing ...)

I'm not sure I completely understood all of the questions and, of course, being married precludes me from seeking any sort of "real" romantic relationships. I tried to think from the "what if" point of view and answer as if I were still single.

I have never, in my entire life, been able to distinguish love from friendship with any sort of reliability, so I didn't quite know how to answer some of the questions. I think if the shared interests and personal/spiritual connections were strong enough I could probably be somewhat attracted to any human on the planet - regardless of physical or cultural gender.

Aven has made me re-evaluate a lot of things in the short time I've been here.

I had pretty much decided to let this die, but with the massive influx of new folk in the last few days, I thought I would give it one more resurrection.

I didn't pick the ones other than "male" and "female" too much because IRL I don't know anyone who does not consider themselves to be neither male nor female .
