Pamcakes
Photos - links, unfortunately, because I couldn't work out how to imbed images. I would love to see them. They will not imbed because they are on Facebook (and I cannot see them even when clicking on the links, either. :( If you open a free Photobucket or other similar account, they could be imbedded. :) Ooh, I have Photobucket! Just haven't used it in ages. Hang on! :-) Now, let's see if this works... Okay, so: http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/In...pg?t=1253504838 This is me, in a candid phone photo taken by my partner (that's a towel hanging up to dry in the background). http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/In...pg?t=1253504909 Same story, here. It was actually on a Sunday afternoon after a massive weekend, and I fell asleep, sitting upright at the table with my chin on my hand! He thought it was cute, so he took a picture of my vertical nap. :P http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/In...pg?t=1253505046 This was taken at the park, on a day out with friends. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/In...pg?t=1253505101 From before I cut and dyed my hair, LARPing a gender-ambiguous Vampire: The Requiem character. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r128/In...pg?t=1253505201 As was this one. Hmmmn, I still couldn't imbed them, so I guess links it must be! P.
Sabriel
Great photos, Pamcakes, you're really pretty and often wayyy androgynous :) I wish I could pull it off, but I have quite a feminine face and long hair. I'm considering having my next haircut as something more androgynous but still long, and I'm dying to get some men's shirts and boxers. :)
Kelly
Wow, Pamcakes. Those are awesome! :)
Pamcakes
Great photos, Pamcakes, you're really pretty and often wayyy androgynous smile.gif I wish I could pull it off, but I have quite a feminine face and long hair. I'm considering having my next haircut as something more androgynous but still long, and I'm dying to get some men's shirts and boxers. smile.gif Why, thank you, Sabriel, what a sweet thing to say! You've made my day, now. :) If you want advice on how to make your look slightly more masculine in a subtle way, I get the woman who waxes and dyes my brows to give me a strong arch closer to the outer point of my eye than to the middle, and a tapered shape, but still strong and quite thick. I choose this style because I prefer a strong brow - I think it gives more definition and a better "frame" to my features - but I've noticed it also seems to add to the ambiguity for other people. The world's been in love with pencil-thin eyebrows as a symbol of femininity since the 1920s, but I've always thought it looks rather silly. For androgyny's sake (and I say this as someone on whom it's just a natural effect, rather than a deliberately cultivated image, so I may not be the best person to comment), I do think having a strong facial structure - a firm jawline and chin, high cheekbones and a very straight nose - does a lot to help. A weak chin is definitely a physical trait that subconsciously suggests femininity. Wow, Pamcakes. Those are awesome! smile.gif Thank you, Kelly. I didn't realise there was an entire group of people who actually exalted physical ambiguity. Like I said, I don't effect it on purpose, but the next time one of my girlfriends gives me hassle for looking "too boyish", I'll be able to smugly inform her that, actually, in certain circles, an androgynous appearance is highly prized! ;) P. bromance
hmm i myself could never become androgynious(I'm just way too girly) but I've always admired androgynes! I was so going to post Agyness Deyn's pictures but I think someone already beat me? hmm nobody has posted up Oli Sykes's picture yet? Oh well To me he looks kinda androgynious but that's just my opinion... A LOT of Korean/Japanese male celebrities are also really androgynious...I guess androgyny is quite a big thing over there? Hmm...I wonder if Jeffree Star's considered androygynious?

Guest
I've been meaning to post these for a while now, but haven't gotten around to snapshooting the music video. Nutz, lead singer of the J-rock band Fly Sleep Fly: I find this one strange because Japanese rock stars (and people in general) tend more to be guys who look like girls, not the other way around. I was two feet away from Nutz before I could be 100% certain she was a girl.

Blue Ice-Tea
wow, this thread is awesome! as a non-asexual person (or, at best, a grey-A), i have to say that this is probably the sexiest picture collection i've ever seen! hope that's okay. ;) i didn't have time to read through all the posts, so i can't contribute anything to the discussion, but here are some more pictures that jump to mind. two angel pictures by Botticelli: Viola: actress Linda Hunt playing (male) photographer Billy Kwon in The Year of Living Dangerously: admittedly, Johnny Depp is probably the worst cross-dresser ever, but... he's Johnny Depp! Michael Jackson (i'm surprised nobody's mentioned him before):
dhanishta
True, actually Johnny Depp can look androgynous - in fact, he looks so much like my sister I can hardly watch a film with him in it. Or perhaps it was the other way around, my sister getting short hair cuts and dressing up like guys. Then she discovered she was definitely sexual and it all changed. Sorry, can't offer you any pics. We were both sometimes mistaken for boys, I still am (having a male angular face, sigh). On the other hand, I try not to look too male or androgynous, as I've been asked if I was lesbian, one even suggesting that she can always tell... So you're put into another box you don't want to be in. MJ definitely

Sammie
Here are some pictures that I found on the website of a Dutch haircutter that specialisizes in punk hair, but does a lot of androgynous haircuts as well. The haircutter is AWESOME and is - for obvious reasons - the most popular spot in my area for transsexuals and other genderqueer. The first picture is not me, but it is the haircut I currently have. :) These are all from the females collection of their pictures. Meaning people who identify as female. The group picture is a family who got their haircuts together, aren't they cute?
50 Cent Piece
Hallo to Martin Cohn, male model who doesn't seem to mind beating the crap out of gender-restrictive appearances...With his twiggy yet stylish arms. I love this one >_< Him in suspenders. And him in a dress and heels.

C.nick
So I let my hair grow out, I went from this: To this: Ram, I can relate with the kid face thing. P.S. The bits of hair sticking out on the sides of my face, I am growing them out so I can plait them.
Sammie
Aaand this is me and my little boy face, in my usual homebody affair >__> A little bit androgynous. Or at least the old man at at Capn D's who asked me "How are you today, young man?" thinks so. Nice! Quite androgynous indeed. I love the hair, and a ninja turtles shirt! :D

Also, watching a (torrent of) a reunion show of a variety show that was on 10yrs ago on Aussie TV, in the opening music act I saw this Saxophone player.
C.nick
Not exactly straight up androgyny, but some of the characters in Repo! Genetic Opera are a little ambiguous nonetheless. Graverobber and Shilo, but only without her wig
Sammie
To be honest, I don't think Shilo looks at all androgynous, very femme. I suppose it's mostly the make-up. A bald or short haired girl can still look very feminine or not depending on make up. Sinead O'Connor is really good proof of that: feminine look: not feminine look:
Sammie
And when I'm thinking of awesome bald chicks, I have to mention: Skunk Anansie!!!

Sammie
HOLY BUCKETS, she's so beautifully badass!EDIT: I just looked up the band and I was NOT expecting that really feminine voice :o ! I love her voice. If you're checking her music, don't miss out on 'Weak as I am' and 'Secretly'. O, and after Skunk Anansie broke up, this awesome lady became the lead singer of Pale 3 and later of Skin.

rotifer
I have always wanted to look more androgenous but unfortunatly I have facial hair that grows really quickly and I have problems with shaving. ( I hate things touching my neck, even have some trouble with scarves) Though I am trying (vaugely) to make my wardrobe more colourfull and bright, as I think to many male clothes are dark coloured. Its very hard to find male trousers that are even slightly coloured. I really like the pictures other people have put up.
