Rabger Posted April 13, 2004 Share Posted April 13, 2004 I really hate this radio station I used to listen to. :x Loved the music, but it was the station itself I couldnt stand. For one, everything was about sex. And two, all the sex stuff was directed toward hetero-sexual males. - They have this thing called "The Vibrator" which is a competition between two songs, which have "positions" one and two. Every time the use the word "Vibrator" they have this buzzing sound with a woman screaming and moaning. - They have this other thing they call "Virgin Meat," which is when they play a song or band never before heard. The commercial for this goes something like this: Announcer "Would you like some virgin meat?" Men "Yes please!" (Announcer gives times) and then says something like "Where you can smack it (a smack sound with a woman moaning) and smack it hard (smack/woman) over (smack/woman) and over (smack/woman) again." - In the afternoons, when the only female dj is on, they have a special time set aside for "stretches." Now, of course, over the radio you can't see the stretches, so the dj describes them and then apparently does it, moaning loudly and saying stuff like "Yes! Oooh, feels so good! Mmmm..." a bunch of times. One time there was a male dj, so instead of doing it himself, he got a female caller to do it instead. - Commericals and prizes for contests usually talk about how hot, sexy women are at these locations and you can surround yourself with them. Never men, always hot, sexy women. And its always on. Its like they can't mention a club/bar without stressing the fact that women are there to hook up with. It makes me sick! I couldn't stand it any more, I had to find a different station. It just bugs me that they ooze this "sex everything" attitude and help make women into nothing but sexual objects for the pleasure of men. I'm surprised that this program has been so durable in the era of FCC nepotism. I admire lesbians who refuse to identify with straight males. Their presence in the world has reassured me that sometimes, when someone says "I love you" to a woman, they're not just exploiting her. Draw the line and thickly- because the history of straight relationships is bloody. Objectification of women is what has allowed it to be so. There's a radio station here that I absolutely avoid during the morning show because it's two guys that talk about nothing but sex, and all the callers do too. It happens with everyone too. I read an article in a magazine about some new trend of self-indentified 'bois', lesbian women who like to dress up and act exactly like young boys. The way they regarded each other sexually was just incredibly repulsive. Many gay men tend to treat each other the way horny straight males treat women. Perversion has become so damn trendy its a wonder how its difficult not to be turned off be sexuals. Hello, you may have hormones bt you also have something called a brain. Today in biology this girl walked in wearing one of those schoolgirl-type uniforms with a skirt that was only about four inches long and... you know the kind. Even reading about it makes me shudder, god, I can't imagine a station having such blatant descriptions of sexuality...usually they try to.... conceal it and make it much less obvious.... I'd change the station also....or if the music was *really* good, I guess, just be forced to turn it down whenever anything other than music was on. You might want to email the station manager/program director , sometimes they are surprisingly receptive to concerns like this, but then again if they're already that extreme I don't know if they would be. But for example, I find that since I started emailing the program director at a local country station here about how they never play any new songs...well...it's amazing because in the last few months they've started to play soooo many new songs, including one that I love where they're the only one playing it... I'm not sure how much influence my lone emails actually had, but I do know it started to change at the same time and there's definitely been a change. But as I said, it's probably different when it's changing the station's whole image. Gosh, it makes me want to barf just thinking about having to listen to that crap. What I complain about is nothing compared to that (and usually I don't find all that much to complain about in that area regarding the radio anyway). What kind of music was it? Are there any other stations in the area playing that kind of music? Ick, that's so taking it WAAY too far! I'm gonna remember this the next time I'm complaining about how obnoxious the afternoon DJs on my local oldies station are (they have a propensity for insulting people). They need to reach the greatest audience because their ad buyers require it. so thye cater to the lowest denominator. And while everyone I know admits they hate it, they watch/listen to it because that's all thats on. It's time to start taking in alternate media forms. Replace your radio station with piped internet feed when available. Make CDs to play in cars. Anything you get for free is either crap or stolen, so make sure its stolen. Topic B: Objectification of Women. My friends tell me I see capitalist propoganda everywhere. I admit it because I hate capitalism So Much, and I feel it must be an unnatural state of civilization. I interpret the least thing as a slight against my socialist slant. That doesn't meant that there is no capitalist propaganda, just that I see more than there really is. To a large degree our society is still sexually repressed. We've escaped this "Sex is Evil" attitude, but in the back of our society it still haunts us. So some sexuals go overboard with their sex drives, and beat you over the head with them. They are just trying to come to grips with their own feeling that sex is wrong by shouting so loud they can't hear their little voice. Society has stuck them with the dualism "Sex is Required/Evil," and it stresses them. I know from experience that in the right company occasionally it can be gratifying to be an ass for a while. It lets off some steam. Maybe if these people understood their own sexuality more and could get over the societal impetus, they wouldn't be dicks about it. It was the first station I found in the area that played the kind of music I liked, when I moved. As for the type... I'm not really up-to-date on music, I generally only listen to it in the truck or at work, so this may seem kinda odd, but I'm not sure. Rock, Alternative? Something like that. I think I'm going to bitch out the station in emails or something, but yeah, considering how out there it is, I very much doubt it will do any good. There is another station in the area that plays about the same type of music and I just started listening to that one, so hopefully its a little 'cleaner.' Link to post Share on other sites
