Dawai
Hi there. I joined a few years ago, and even wrote a reply in one of the forum topics. But I've been thinking about asexuality a bit more recently, and when I went on this site again after a little hiatus, I realized I never introduced myself formally. So thought I'd do it now! So I'm in my mid-40s and realized, wait a minute, I might be a gray-ace during the pandemic. Maybe I had too much time to really think about these things 🙂 Before that, I always just thought I was, well, kind of broken. At least, society was telling me I should be broken, based on how much my friends bemoaned their lack of sex, or focused so much of their effort at sleeping around or finding a partner, etc. And there I was, without much of any of that. But I never felt broken, which always kind of confused me. Now it makes more sense! Anyways, I'm still thinking through my identity here. But I appreciate AVEN for providing a space that lets me think it through.

Actually My Name's Marina
this is highly relatable! I spent 11 years celibate, and it just... never bothered me much. I felt perfectly normal in myself. A partner was never going to fix what was bad about my life, but relationships that focused on actual connection (great friendships, one squish) turned out to be just the thing. Who knew?
