Doctor Corgi Posted July 6 Share Posted July 6 Heyo everyone my name is Peyton. I found out I was asexual when I was 18 years old after watching Jaiden Animations Being Not Straight video. I watched it when I was in middle school but I couldn't grasp the concept back then. It was only as an adult I realized what she was talking about in the video resonated with me. I didn't experience romantic attraction until I was in highschool but I've never felt sexual attraction. I was always so confused when people would talk about other's appearances in a way I've never felt. Things like "They're so hot" "That's sexy" etc. Once I realized that I can love people romantically but not sexually I felt so empowered. However, asexual people are not common so it's also created a feeling of loneliness and disconnect from most people. Like people assume you don't like anyone when they hear the word asexual or they say I haven't met the right person. Which makes me feel invalidated for feelings I can't control. Sexual feelings won't arise even if I do meet the "right person." It stinks to be put down and I wish I could find more asexual people in my area. So I resorted to trying online and heard about this website. So far reading other people's stories has made me feel less alone. I'm excited to see what else this sight has to offer.
