konekoashi
Hiya My name's Ash. I'm a 24, nonbinary. I magically stumbled upon this website and made an account a while ago. I was always too nervous to say hello, but today's the day I gather the courage! I've known I was ace since I was 14, but didn't accept that part of myself until recently. I remember the day when I learned what my allo friends meant when they say that someone is "hot" and thought, okay maybe I don't find people attractive like that. As for my romantic orientation... I'm still kind of struggling to accept that I might be arospec too. I think I have some underlying shame around it, as most if not all of my IRL friends are in relationships. While I don't really feel romantic attraction towards others, I still crave connection. It doesn't help that I confuse the bubbly feelings I get from making a new friend with romantic feelings. The confusion is kind of overwhelming at times, and I guess I'm feeling kind of lost... I'm hoping to hear other people's stories, make some friends here, and maybe learn a little bit more about myself while doing so. I'm glad to have found this little corner of the internet. I look forward to meeting y'all :).

mja71130
Welcome! 🍰 What you feel in the situation you described might be a platonic attraction. For me, it’s an intense feeling of “I want to know more about you and spend time with you.” It’s not based on the person’s appearance; instead it’s their personality. And yeah, it can absolutely be confusing! There are threads here that delve into all kinds of relationships and attractions. Reading about other people’s experiences might help you further explore that aspect of yourself. But take your time! You don’t have to rush to find answers.
