Tía Mey
Hi Yesterday, we held an online meeting with diversity representatives from the Chamber of Deputies. The discussion focused on the invisibilization and violence—physical, emotional, sexual, gynecological and through conversion therapies—that affects not only cisgender heteroromantic asexuals but also the broader diversity within our community, including homo, bis, pan, and aromantic asexuals. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to launch an educational and visibility campaign across all government agencies in involved in sexual diversity and education in Mexico city. Given that internet and social media access is not universally available in our country, I personally proposed that these agencies—along with governmental counseling services—also provide printed accesible materials. This would ensure that anyone seeking information about sexual orientations beyond the commonly recognized ones has accessible resources. Also in a symbolic gesture, the Chamber of Deputies was illuminated with a shade of purple that had never been used before, commemorating International Asexuality Day. I wanted to share this with you because this is the first step for any matter to start gaining awareness for later on spread into other state agencies. Si algun paisa Mexa o Latino ve esto, pueden checar nuestro material en: @asexualesmexico en diferentes redes o https://www.facebook.com/asexmex Saludos!
