I will if I know them well enough and it's not something too strange/embarrassing.

I tell if I remember telling them about the dream. Cause I’ll remember the dream but just forget to tell my friends. Sometimes though the dream is just unimportant or not as impressive as other dreams I’ve had. Like I selected, if it’s funny or super weird, I’ll tell them. In fact, when it’s out of the ordinary, it helps me remember to tell them.

Usually if it's funny or interesting, like we were on an adventure or something, I'd tell a friend or family member. Or occasionally if it was a nightmare about being worried for them in some way, I might mention it (depending).

depends on who it was and what happened. I had a dream about a girl in class when I was in 5th grade and I stupidly told the person I considered my best friend about it in confidence. of course the whole class knew about it within the hour. Not saying that's the only reason I have trust issues to this day, but it was a factor

No, for several reasons.

1) even if I do remember my dream, the details will probably have slipped my mind by the time I next see them.

2) I worry that dreams are a boring topic of conversation no matter who is in them. The dreams would have to be spectacular to warrant a mention.

3) Usually too busy talking about/doing other things to do this, particularly if they’re colleagues.

3) Kind of hard to have that conversation with people who are dead in the waking world. (Yes, I sometimes dream about dead people; this feels like the opening of a bad novel.)

If we are on speaking terms, yes, but not urgently.  It's not very common for me to dream about someone specifically that fits that criteria, though.

When someone I know appears on a dream of mine, it ends up being a deja vu or some really emotional scene my sleepy brain was cooking during the night. And when I say “really emotional scene” I mean it. For some reason, some dreams turn up being emotional rollercoasters, then turning into nightmares, to the point I’ve seen people close to me dying in my arms sometimes.

So it really depends on which of the two aforementioned categories my dream lies. If it’s a deja vu, I’ll tell them, if it’s about heavier stuff, I don’t. Because honestly I don’t know how do you tell someone “hey, last night I saw you in my dream and you died”.

On a more positive, less eerie note, I think my brain auto censors explicit imagery out of my dreams. The most explicit thing I remember living in a dream was french-kissing a classmate of mine back in high school days. Literally every moment that things are about to turn “spicier” everything fades to black or the context changes a lot, so nothing ends up happening. That counts as a sign of my asexuality I guess.

I don’t tell people either if they appear in this kind of dreams, mostly out of fear of cringe.

I see I’m not the only one that goes through this… Is there any explanation for this by any chance?

Dream interpretations claim that death in dreams are supposed to symbolize rebirth/the end of something/a new begining, etc

But I I dont think thats quite what my brain is looking for, if both for myself, and the people around me, there is always either an attempted kill or an untimely death

I did go through a severe depression for years in my life. Maybe my dreams are just acting out that desire to stop existing as Im not attempting againts my life anymore, but by no means am I happy go lucky or cheery. I always see life as surviving

I forget my dreams easily, so usually, no. I will have a vague recollection of it, but none of the details stick. It would feel awkward for me to say, "I dreamed about you" and give no context as to what the dream is about.

It depends. If it’s a fun or funny dream, I’ll mention it. If I feel like I want or need to tell them I will. Otherwise I don’t

I have a lot of dreams that end in death (Of me and of other people) but usually in the dream it's an accident, and I definitely have more of those dreams if I'm having a particularly bad month

But yeah I dont think my friends want to hear the details of how they end up dying in my dreams

I think this thread made my brain get creative last night, because I dreamt I was in a store and randomly someone started doing the initial part of the The Lion Sleeps Tonight

which in current times is used as a meme to signify being about to die, and all of the sudden, everyone in the store started to sing the song. Wtf brain lol

Normally I don't dream about other people and when I do it's all weird dreams

Depends.

I definitely told my mom about the dream I had where she was super buff and lifted a car. I absolutely did not tell my best friend about the dream where we finally were able to see each other in person again, and I just stood there hugging her and crying because she wasn’t actually there.

No.
I anonymize my dreams in my dream journal.  Like I do all my thoughts, ideas about people. I substitute ‘who’ or ‘one’ for their name.

If it's someone I'm decently close to and it's not something really awful, sure.

If it's friends or family, sure! But of course not if it's weird. 💀

Depends on the person and the nature of the dream. I suppose I would tell my partner or friends if I'd had a dream about them unless it was something really awful like them dying.

Most of the time when I do have dreams that I recall they involve people I'm not really close with or haven't spoken to in ages, though.
