They can be pretty. Or scary. Or loud. Or cool. Sometimes it feels safe and sometimes it blows up on your balcony. Well...

They're okay. I used to be absolutely terrified of them as a kid. I would dread Independence Day and would hide inside, afraid that the fireworks would fall on me and burn my skin.

I like watching a team of professionals detonate them safely for 30 minutes. I do not enjoy my neighbors setting them off in the street for the entire month of July.

Mixed feelings. Personally I like them, but my dad was in Vietnam and the fireworks trigger his PTSD. It's never really been a big issue, but as get older I worry it might be hardere for him to realize no one is shooting at him.

Very pretty. But I hate the noise with every fibre of my being. I can feel the bangs.

Yes, I know there are quiet fireworks, but for some reason the folk who organise our village display don’t buy them.

Like watching the pretty ones from afar.  Don't like the noisy ones.  Especially don't like the smoke; it gives me breathing difficulties.

One tipped over and shot out its side right at my leg about 10 years ago

They’re okay. They can be pretty. It gets annoying having to hear them for more than an hour though.

A good display can be pretty, but I prefer not being too close. The noise can be overwhelming though. And like @verily-forsooth-egads said, there's a difference between a scheduled professional display for a known time limit vs random fireworks/firecrackers being set off all over the neighborhood at random times for days on end.

I was staying in a hotel once, some stories up, when fireworks started going off somewhere outside. They literally rattled the windows. I got the impression it was an organized display. But if so, it wasn't in a good location. I don't know why whoever was doing it was allowed to.

I really dislike being nearby due to the loud noises that can be anywhere from a rumble to almost a squeal. I'd like to think the sound doesn't bother me as much but sudden loud noises still make me flinch every time (the school bell is a big culprit here).

from a distance though I adore the colours and patterns so I'll make an effort to see a show but usually from afar.

They kinda piss me off. Colossal waste of money and they terrify animals. I know my dog hates them - I took him for an evening walk once in the city and random fireworks started. He was beside himself with fear and anxiety. Shaking and whimpering, couldn't sit still and was trying to run away. My two options were hold onto him and stay still, forcing him to hear the banging sounds, or if I tried to walk with him he would just pull the lead out of my hand and run away probably into the traffic and possibly get hit by a car or go missing. It was horrible :(

I also know that horses will freak out and accidentally get caught in fences when fireworks happen, and wild animals like foxes get spooked as well.

And there is the issue of war vets with PTSD. So yeah, I hate fireworks.

I like them when they're either really good or my own stash. A ho-hum fireworks display is not too exciting, but one which was crafted and choreographed by professionals with a generous budget is very fun and exciting.

I love them but they scare my poor hometown puppy.

I don't think I care about them. They're fine. I like the act of doing it as part of a festival or celebration, but almost every single one that I've seen hasn't had any reason to impress me. I think I've only seen ~two that I've actually enjoyed seeing. I also know a few people who can't stand the sounds of it (either because of sensory issues, because of the fear it instills, or some kind of trauma), so knowing how it affects them, I have some mixed feelings whenever I see them

It's complicated. I love to take photos of them...they're beautiful...but the noise? Nope. Hate that. Especially since they scare my dog so much.

They're pretty but I'm not sure they're worth the potential harm.

What @daveb and @verily-forsooth-egads have said. Noisy "bangers" set off without rhyme or reason at unpredictible hours just because a certain date is a few hours ahead can be annoying. The ones with pretty colours set off safely, in timely manner and for a limited period of time are fun, though.

They can look good.

But thats the only pro argument.

They pollute the environment and people get harmed by explosive comparable often. They ingnite stuff when they fall down and are used as weapons some times.

Also especially on silvester they are very annoying loud and bright when you want to sleep.

They scare animals. On silvester emergency forces got all hads full dealing with the damage caused by the fire works.

I guess they're pretty sometimes, unless it's too much. I don't like firework shows.

And I don't like the noise they make. I hate dealing with it. Too much noise, too much pollution, mean to animals.

More negatives than positives with them.

Aww another fireworks poll, like the one I made last summer. 😁

Love them. Absolutely love them. I adore bright sparkly shimmery things, anything with a festive feel, anything in the realm of fire or sparks or whatever... and although the sound of an air conditioner or sometimes even simply a fan will annoy me to the point I feel like I'm going to cry or scream, and I'm frequently startled by small unexpected noises, the sound of fireworks doesn't bother me at all. It's even kind of pleasing. If someone put on a fireworks display I could watch from my window or balcony every night, I'd be pretty happy. They're a huge dopamine hit for me. (Yes I know nightly fireworks would be very bad for the environment so from that standpoint it's a no-go, and I know other people would hate it, but if I lived in my own little bubble and there was no environmental impact... yes please.)

Just had some in my city last night actually, for Diwali. I was able to see some of them from my place.

I like the colors and stuff but i'm iffy on the sound, as long as I'm at a considerable distance from them the sound is fine

I LOVE the variety

I hate them. I wish I liked them, but I freaking hate the sound of them and can't go to any fireworks shows because they immediately send me into fight-or-flight mode.
