0. It has to be zero. I am paranoid that way.

I can’t stand having unread messages

even if I don’t intend to reply in any way I’ll still click the button just to mark my emails as read

just to note i have 5 email addresses that I keep up with

(It’s a long story)

none that I personally haven't marked as unread for later taking care of

If I don't deal with stuff when it comes up I won't deal with it at all - and feel bad about it.

I always make sure to read my emails whenever I go onto Gmail. I've never had a friend who didn't have at least 2,000 unread emails in their inbox. I read all my emails, important or not. It's strange, but I've just become accustomed to doing so.

Cleaned up some of my mailbox today and went from 280+ unread to 180ish unread, so that's something

I have a lot. I answered 2000-5000, but I forgot to count my old junk Yahoo. Oops. A lot. Probably not as much as Ceebs though. 😆

None. I have deleted all email accounts that I no longer use, or haven't used in a long time, and the ones I still use are generally not subscribed to all tonnes of random crap, so easier to keep on top of.

180. But I've been ignoring most communication the past five weeks, but I normally would read, reply, delete.

Mine is back up to 98, they just keep coming, LOL, and most are actual things now not spam crap. So hard to keep on top of!

Ok, so almost 8 weeks later I'm up to 16,995.

More interestingly though, I discovered just a few minutes ago that someone in my life has even more unread emails than I do. My ex-husband made some comment in passing in a text about how he had a lot of unread emails and my first thought was 'Sure maybe, but I bet not as many as I do'. So I asked and when he told me, I asked him to send a screenshot to prove it. 😂

And he did...

I have two, and on one I have about 2,500 unread emails. On my other older one, it's closer to 30,000 unread. I won't even start with deleting them all.

Too many...

In a single account, I generally let the number go up to around 500 before I do a mass read/delete/label/file/archive session to get back to 0.

That was my last post nearly two months ago.

A couple weeks ago, my ex mentioned that he finally caved and just decided to mark all of his nearly 40,000 unread emails as read. I thought about it for a couple minutes and then decided 'Fuck it, I'll do the same'. If I'm honest with myself, I'm never going to go back and look at any of the unread ones anyway.

I cannot express how much better this makes me feel. 😅

These days, usually as soon as a new one comes in, I look at it. If it's from a mailing list I don't want to be on anymore, I unsubscribe. If it's from a mailing list I do still want to be on, I read it quickly and then delete it. Hopefully that slowly reduces the number of new emails I'm getting.

Anyway, this is where I'm at now:

Those two unread emails are one from a mailing list of a favourite musician and I haven't properly read it yet, and the other is a copy of a friend's resume that I'm going to look over later.

And that's it. 😁🎉

very impressed by the number of 0s here!!! I've got 19, but many of those were promotionals that I deleted after looking lol, so now I have just 2.

So excluding spam folders

Yahoo 972 unread emails

Gmail 333 emails

Other Gmail 138 emails

Work 2 emails

Total 1,435 unread emails

I do occasionally delete these

so currently

yahoo 4,627

gmail 1,408

other gmail 229

work email - in theory around 140 emails, however i think some have been read  but just not a way that shows they have been read.

total 6,264 plus the work email

anyway
