Comcast is really good about putting obvious spam in my spam folder.  In fact sometimes I've found "good" emails in my spam folder.  I check my email any times a day just in case someone's done or said something I have to pay attention to, and some friends have conversations on email because we don't see each other often.

I keep my inbox empty. I don’t want to run the risk of storing any personal information that could be stolen from me should my account get hacked. Identify theft would be a horrible thing to happen. I have rules set up to move phishing/scam emails to my junk folder and block the senders and domains as needed to cut back on the amount of emails that reach me. Anything with an attachment is set to go straight to junk.

I just checked my emails, lol.

I don't read most of the emails I get unless they're obviously important.

Yes!  My first thought as a software guy was I wonder how high Apple will let the number go - my guess it will go to 99,999 and then switch to 99,999+ or something!

Now I almost want to make it a goal to find out...

according to the counter on my phone 35,383 and I would not be surprised to see it go way higher than that. I get like 100 or so new ones every day. i only open and read the important ones.

Oh, also, my email accounts can only hold so much (and can get filled up quickly if there are files such as photos).

@Ceebs would be so proud of this!

😂

I'm impressed.

I have OCD myself, like... lifelong diagnosed and all that... but I'm glad the number of unread emails I have doesn't really trigger it. The thought makes me stressed, but I'm just a bit paralysed by this point.

I'm up to 10,827 now.

I think you've both hit the "event horizon" at this point in regards to your inboxes.  I don't think there's anyway you can salvage it once you get past 10,000 ;):D

I gave up on trying to salvage it. I just let it go and try not to look at it. I get so much spam every day that I just stopped trying to delete it all. burn it all to the ground and start again.

Unread emails on my work inbox: 8,870.

I get a tonne of automated emails from an internal system, I may need those emails to reference at some point in time. But I don't ever need to read them, so they just get ignored.

Personal inbox for my main email account: 440 (but I did just mark the entire inbox as read last week)

GMail, over 2,000. Not too sure how many, as the app just says 99+ but I know last time I checked on PC it was at least 2,000.

All other inboxes? Yes. Lots. I know they were used to sign up to lots of sites that probably all spam them daily.

I tend to be elazy, there, and don't delete much.

I answer them or clean them out several times a day or it would be a mess.

I don't like the thought of my inbox being flooded with emails so I check it several times a day and either read my emails or straight up delete them if I feel they're not important. So I usually never have more than 10 unread emails in it. 😅

This only happens with my work email when I'm on leave because I try not to look at it when I'm not actually working.

God, I feel so much better about the fact that I'm up to 11,573 now. 😎

Somewhere over 10,000 last I checked. No amount of purging and unsubscribing ever helps decrease the burden of my email inboxes.

I don't even understand how people have that many emails in total, much less unread. Maybe I just don't get much email. :P

Then again, once the number gets past some level I suppose it becomes difficult to deal with? I also wonder about storage space. Mine has a limited amount of storage space, so unless I could find a way to offload it to my computer or something I'd run out of email space.

No judgement, just different approaches/viewpoints.

Zero. I don’t get notifications for spam, and I clear spam every week. I always either read or delete my emails. I hate having notifications lol. It drives me crazy seeing other people having thousands of notifications; I want to go through them.

11,792 now.

Was hoping I could make it to 12,000 by Christmas. Maybe by New Year's?

It depends on how you define read/unread. I delete spam emails, read the rest and the important ones that require attention later get marked as unread so I have to go through them again. But they were read.

0. It has to be zero. I am paranoid that way.

When I was working in my previous company, there were loads of e-mails every day and I had to stay on top of them, in case there was something important. Most weren't- but I could not afford to miss something.

In the current company, there are very few- like only a couple each day so it's easy to track them.

Regarding my personal mail, it is mostly from banks and spam sites, or invoices for all the payments and transactions that I do anywhere. But I mostly delete them right away.

Any e-mail if kept unread is because I don't want to read that right away but I do within a day. If an e-mail is important, I flag them right away.

Right now, my e-mail inbox has only two mails for flight tickets that I am taking next month. And those two will be gone as well soon. I like to keep things CLEAN.

The only time I have a dozen emails or more is in my school email, because I get google classroom emails in my inbox and I don’t clear them until I’ve completed the assignment.
