Thank You! I knew this happened to other people, too. At least we still have some CDs. I do wonder what will happen to the price when the supply gets lower.

As a similar note, with new game consoles, you can't even permanently buy the games. You quit service/membership you lose it all. 🤕

My laptop can't play CDs 😢

I have a Bush SRP51 record player, but it doesn't like LPs, I also have a Phillips FCD563: one of the early 'stack' - turntable, radio, dual cassette record - play. and CD player. Unfortunately it doesn't work. It's a nice ornament though .

I have a cassette player/CD player/radio combo, but I didnt use it for years and when I last tried to start it I discovered that the CD player doesn't work. I also have 2 discmen (including one I got as a gift), but I think they have issues too.

I didn't have that experience around 20 (no girlfriend). What I had was time and freedom, but no money. :P

(not entirely true, though, as I did mange a cycling trip around Europe for a couple of months)

Before an elbow-breaking fall a couple years ago retired me (at 67) I was an in-home caregiver to seniors. One client lived in a high-priced senior living facility, courtesy of his family who wanted him nearby for visiting, but couldn't take care of him full time themselves. I had two 12 hour shifts - 8am-8pm Saturday and Sunday, during which I could never let him out of my sight save brief potty visits. The staff (and his family!) were wonderful, but this scene is absolutely spot on as far as his fellow "inmates". I had to reassure him frequently that he was not at fault and eventually both their attitudes (and/or dementia) would bring them back to sitting with him (and his own helped him forget much of the abuse), but I always felt bad for him.

I’ve got to the stage where I have to check the Christmas cards coming in to make sure nobody has died before I send mine out.

(Oh, yeah, I’m of a generation where Christmas cards are still a thing.)
