when do you think it is ok for you to start listening to christmas music

for me, it feels like from 8th December is good time to start

in irish culture, we do place significance on the religious day of the 8th december and despite not being religious, i think it's a good time for it

pick the nearest day in the poll, or the last option

After I've heard that Mariah Carey song in the radio in the middle of July, I think none of the answers will surprise me anymore.

I tend to go with sometime from December 5th to 10th

November 1st, although there's a couple Christmas songs I will listen to all year because they are that good.

We have it on the authority of Paddy Roberts that June is an appropriate time to begin singing Christmas carols.

I wish I could say I like Christmas music, its very upbeat and cheerful, but I just can't get into the Christmas spirit. I don't know why, maybe I'm just too cold hearted or morose.

I don't play any in my house myself. Having worked in retail a big chunk of my adult life the Christmas spirit was sucked out of my body but growing up my m=Mom would start playing as soon as the day after Halloween. When I worked retail they'd at least show Thanksgiving some respect and hold off on Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving.

I love Christmas and I love Christmas music! I usually start looking for Christmas music early in November, so I chose Nov 1 in the poll. If I have my music on shuffle and a Christmas song comes up any other time of year, I tend to let it play.

That early is probably really just the past few years ("few" in my head might = up to 10 years - lol! Although it's probably not that long ago). Before that, it was closer to the end of Nov or Dec 1. My tree didn't used to go up until Dec 1 or later (Dec 1 is also my birthday, so it seemed a good time). But now I just get too excited about it (despite my now 50 years behind me!). 🙂

It depends on the Christmas song...but for the most part, December 1st it is allowed. Any time before, and it irks me lol.

Although there are also some Christmas songs I never want to listen to, no matter what day it is. So it just depends on if it's a good song or not

I usually don't go out of my way to listen to Christmas music. I can sort of get into the spirit when I hear it being played, but I can't think of any Christmas songs I like enough to listen to on my own time, save a few vaguely festive ones that are only slightly more appropriate when there's snow on the ground than otherwise. My favorite Christmas songs are all hymns anyway.

At most the middle of November, preferably the beginning of December but my mom makes me listen to it the moment the clock strikes 12 am on November 1st

It gets worn out after a while for me.

About the same for me, too. Also, as you said, some are that not good that I don't listen to them any time. :P

Before moving up north to Scandinavia, I would have said mid December, also because in the Netherlands we have Saint Nicholas on the 5th of December, so it's basically sacrilege to have Christmas music before that , but with the absence of St Nicholas in Sweden and Denmark, together with the long, dark days, I gradually started to get into Christmas way sooner, first November-ish, and a few years ago even late October.

But I'm back in the Netherlands now, so I start with Christmas music around mid-November (but I actually don't really listen to it throughout December, because some radio stations have an end of year Top 4000 or 2000

Oh yeah, Sinterklaas. 6th December for us  and for Poland as well.

The day we receive koekstjes at work (don't look at me, it's a joke in my workplace ), I can start tolerating Christmas music. And put the Christmas tree up.

Well, I don't know too much about Christmas, but Advent starts four Sundays before Christmas, which this year was November 27th, so I guess that would be a reasonable date.

I have my tree up (had it up a couple of weeks), but I haven't listened to any Christmas music, but I might start next week after I get back from a weekend trip to see my best friend (around the 13th).

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it doesn’t seem very fair to have Christmas be a two month affair and rip away poor Halloween’s spotlight as soon as possible! Haha. Anyway, after December 1st is ok.
