do asexuals masterbate?

I honestly dont get why asexuals who are not interested in sex would do something like that..

Well i dont do it and i think its disgusting to be honest whether you are sexual or not.

I can't speak for other asexuals, but for myself I do it because its fun. I have little to no actual libido, but all my parts still work and sometimes its an enjoyable way to spend a little bit of time. I don't understand why it would be disgusting, its just as natural as any other sexual act. Personal repulsion I understand but I don't understand this (seemingly widespread in the AVEN community) absolute disgust at anything vaguely sexual. Maybe its not intended this way by those that adhere to that sentiment, but it strikes me as a bit judgemental.

I can see why people would be repulsed by sex but honestly I feel kinda sorry for those disgusted by touching themselves, it just seems like self-hate to me. It's your own body, you live in it every day. But maybe I've got the wrong impression about where that disgust is coming from.

I am disgusted with all sexual acts as i view them as the same, they are done to achieve sexual pleasure which i feel is unnecessary. I only feel people should have sex to procreate and not for pleasure because a desire for sexual pleasure can lead people to do stupid things.

I think its a bit strange to be asexual and masturbate because asexuality is viewed as a lack of desire for sex. Sex gives you the same sort of pleasure as masturbation does that is why i cannot see how someone who is not interested in sex can masturbate.

Asexuality is the lack of sexual desire for another person. It is not the lack of sexual arousal or the lack of sexual behavior. Masturbation is entirely consistent with the definition of asexuality.

Additionally, neither asexuals who enjoy masturbation nor asexuals who are repulsed by it are objectively right or wrong in their preference. It's a personal and subjective issue.

Sex may feel unnecessary for you but how can you say that it is unnecessary for others? How can one decide what is right or necessary for another person? Not only that, but even if it is strictly unnecessary, there are many things that are unnecessary but still enjoyable and positive for some people. Cake is unnecessary but that doesn't mean that one should go passing judgement on another for enjoying eating it.

To say that someone should have sex only for procreation is incredibly closed minded and judgmental. Who is anyone to decide that for another person? Value judgments of other people doing things that don't harm others, generally speaking, is ridiculous. A lot of things can lead some people to do stupid things, sexual pleasure perhaps being among them. However, I don't think its right to pass judgement on the many people engaging in it responsibly simply because a few people engage in it irresponsibly.

Let me guess, you're coming from a fundamentalist, religious perspective. Sex is only for procreation tends to be a tenet of the most conservative Christian denominations, especially Catholicism.

Sex, as I understand it, feels good. God made it feel good, and made it fun, so that procreation would be ensured. Go forth. Be fruitful and multiply. BUT, as I understand it, sex involves both a physical component and an emotional component. Sex without the emotional attachment is FAR different than sex with, according to my research.

Masturbation has a similar duality. There is a physical release, and there is a sexual component. Masturbation without the sexual attraction is a simple physical action analogous to "cracking your knuckles."

Many of God's commandments boil down to keeping your sexual (and other) urges in check. The one about "coveting thy neighbor's wife" for example, and that whole no sex outside of marriage thing presumably involve, and even assume, sexual interest.

Consequently, strange as it sounds coming from this Christian Bible thumper, I do not see mechanical asexual masturbation as being against God's law. While masturbating I am not objectifying or coveting women, and I'm certainly not having sexual relations outside of marriage. It might be different if I were sexually interested, but I'm truly not interested. In fact, I'm an asexual aromantic, and have absolutely no interest in pairing up with anyone for romance, for cuddling, or even for sex.

Despite all that, my testes still produce sperm...it builds up and gets uncomfortable after a while. Periodically, it feels good to empty them.

We asexuals exist within God's loophole.

No comment, other than to say that everyone else =/= you. I could say more, but it wouldn't be kind.

I'm a heterosexual guy. Having anal sex with another guy would provide me the same sort of physical stimulation I get from having sex with women, but I'm not interested in it. Why not? Because of my orientation, clearly. That's what orientation IS. If you're asexual you can still enjoy masturbation, but not want sex with people you're not oriented towards (which would be: everyone). It's not hard, but you need to understand that asexuality, defined as an orientation, includes everyone who is not attracted to people of any sex, not just people who find sex or sexual activity disgusting.

I do not think there is nothing common between stucking penis in your holes or rubbing to your clit. Or masturbating alone and having sex with someone. Kids masturbate before they born and I do not think they have even heard about sex yet...

Oh wait, they can hear :o Maybe they hear voices and feel how penis moves inside of momma and next to them and... and... want to try it right awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.... :o Are we turned on because parents are having sex before we born :o :o :o EEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

I've never ever masterbated because it's sounds completely horrible. Even the idea weirds me out.

I mean seriously, what possible pleasure could ever be had from masterbating?

>.< I suppose it's like algerbra, I'll never understand it.

 I feel this way, too ... except that I used to like algebra. However this whole masturbating-equation is just far too complicated for me...

I'm still trying to discover what I am, but I think I am a demi.

But I am a 17 year old female. I masterbate, but I go through these phases where sometimes for a few weeks I will masterbate every night, and then for the next few weeks absolutely nothing. When I do masterbate, it's usually not for pleasure. The urge for me is basically an annoyance and releasing it is the only way to go to sleep or get rid of the distracting feeling. I do watch porn sometimes, but I'm always disgusted by it right after I climax. It's as if my mind does a 180 degree turn before and after I masterbate.

I actually prefer masterbating to having sex, because I don't like depending on others for anything. And if I just need a release, I want it as quick and painless as possible. It's very very rare that I feel intense sexual attraction to someone that I would be willing to have sex with them. Even when I was with my ex boyfriend and we engaged in any sexual activity, I am never mentally lost in it because I just want it over as quickly as possible. Even when I am aroused by another person, I still just want to release myself by myself.

Do I? Why, yes, yes I do.

Either to take care of an urge, as 'the plumbing' still works, or to help me fall asleep...although lately my insomnia is becoming immune. -shakes fist-

I'm not ashamed by it, or to say that I do it.

I have spells where I want to kick myself for it. I'm getting better, though. Trying to convince myself it's not all that bad.

I don't.

I scratch the area when it gets itchy (exactly like one would scratch an itch on one's arm or leg or anywhere else) and clean it, which often involves touching it. That's about it...

Sometimes the bus kind of vibrates and the way I'm sitting means the area gets stimulated. It's not really intentional but it feels sort of nice.

I don't really know why I don't do it. I've had a ton of dreams where I had the insane urge to, but I wake up with no desire to at all. *shrug*

I tried it a few times, just to see what I could possibly get from it, and I got nothing. It was a little boring since I wasn't getting any pleasure from it, so I stopped.

Not that I have any kind of moral holdings against it... it just doesn't do anything to me personally, at least right now. Maybe it will in the future, I don't know. I will probably try again because I've heard it's beneficial especially for those who don't have sex, but no more.

Plus, I have a rather low libido. Next to non-existent, actually. At times, when my hormones are most active, I will occasionally feel something, but not so strong as to urge me to act on it (not even by "playing solo").

Actually, I don't get why people need a physical release, or what they would want a physical release for in the first place?

:D Now here's a place I have never been before...trying to explain why autoeroticism is a special and sometimes needed release for me. Less so than it was 20 years ago, mind you. It's not just that it feels good to have an orgasm (it does)...it really helps me relax when I'm tense or get to sleep when my mind is full of yammering chatter. And it's not even necessary to take it all the way to O...it can be very relaxing even halfway there.

But I consider myself just as solidly asexual as anyone who isn't interested in masturbation, because I have no interest in sharing this sort of touching or release with other people. I have checked it out often enough to be certain  I don't like it. Never will.

osito

I agree with everything you said. Sure masturbation and having an orgasm feels good. NO, I do NOT want my genitals near anyone else's, thankyouverymuch. It's awkward, smelly, non-hygienic, and painful. And let me add also, NO, I'm not just "repressed". I am a physically and emotionally very healthy individual. (Does anyone else ever get tired of hearing that in relation to asexuality?)

I've been trying it lately out of sheer curiosity, and I noticed that sometimes it works and sometimes it does absolutely nothing. There seems to be absolutely no correlation between the times that it works and the times that it doesn't, so I'm beginning to quickly lose interest in it because I never know if there's going to be a "payoff," and when there isn't, I feel as if I have completely wasted my time. I'm certain I have no libido, though, because I have never felt any sort of urge to touch myself like that whatsoever, and I'd even go so far as to say that I have absolutely no idea what an urge to do so could possibly feel like. It seems to me that this activity is meant strictly for people with libidos as I get little to nothing out of it, myself.

I've tried, but no use, I seem to be totally numb down there. None of the areas that should be sensitive are. I really don't know why. Just the way I am I guess?

I don't masturbate. never have. It's part of why I think my asexuality is actually caused by having something wrong with me. Well, maybe wrong is not accurate, but I suspect that I should have had a least a few orgasms or something. I saw a guy have an orgasm in a porn movie years ago, but I couldn't relate to it at all.

It sounds to me like you just don't have a libido. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong at all unless you consider that a problem. I don't have a libido either, but I don't see how it's a problem. I can still function fine.

I am unsure weather I'm asexual, but I masturbate and dont think it is directly linked to wanting sex. As a male, it's a natural reaction from my body to certain arousals and truth is, it's pleasurable.

My first impression of asexuals was that they don't masturbate, that's the thing. To masturbate, sex is actually on the mind.

But I think there is a clear difference between masturbation and sexual intercourse, which for me is the thing that I don't like. I can watch people doing it, see naked women and know how everything works, but in reality away from the internet and porn, it's not for me. Have you ever seen a vagina up close? It's gross! (no offence females!) I just like the female body, asthetically if that makes sense.

But here's the thing?

Does a handjob count as masturbation still, if the hand belongs to another person? And is that within the boundaries of sexual acts?

Uhhh... No it does not. At least not from my experience. I "think" I have orgasmed from sex but it felt uncomfortable, not good like masturbating does. The feeling of being touched in my special place by someone else is almost foreign, like my body is saying no. Can anyone relate to this?

Have you ever seen a vagina up close? It's gross! (no offence females!) I just like the female body, asthetically if that makes sense.

Have you ever seen a penis up close? It's ugly! (no offense guys!)

LOL, had to pick on you there! Despite my hetero orientation, if given the choice I'd rather see a naked woman!

I masturbate for all reasons above. But I am mostly active when I'm ovulating. That awful week right before the worst week of the month.

One thing I was wondering if there was any difference between the way sexual and asexual people do it. Do you look at pornography and images, like sexual people do? Because in my own experience when I do that it isn't the desire to have sex with a person, at least I don't think. I am more interested in the shape of their body, their face, the shade of their skin colour or hair which coupled with the physical arousal of masturbation, seems very sexual.

It sounds weird, but it's something I've never thought about until coming here.

Before knowing I was asexual I tried masturbation as suggestion from reading online and friends to get more in touch with what turned me on and to just get more in touch with my body as a whole. Unfortunately (though not really) it didn't make me want to have sex/do more sexual things with my ex.

I still do it on occasion as a way to fall asleep or feel good because to me it's not that different from getting a massage ~you rub/massage part of your body and usually end with feeling more relax/loose.

As far as the question above about differences~ there's no sexual thoughts involved for me, I don't watch porn or look at magazines. The few times I tried imagining erotic scenes I get bored so usually I just think about something random or make up a story in my head and spend time working out details of the plot (like what is the characters motivation, how did they end up in this scene, how do they end up meeting so and so) and the story usually doesn't even involve romance but like a mystery or fantasy plot more...and I find this works because it takes my mind off what is physically happening enough so there's no pressure mentally ~

I also usually don't orgasm or if I do I've never recognized it so it really is like a more stimulating massage to me

"Sex gives the same pleasure as masturbation" also doesn't make sense to me, because why would anybody choose casual sex then? To complicate things for oneself? If it would be the same, then nobody would feel a need to find a mate for it.

It works for me when I don't have it on the mid as well, did you even tried? It works pretty good, and the sensation is maybe even bigger when I just focus on what I am doing, and how it feels but watching porn/erotica requires less effort.

In my own case, usually I don't look at anything while masturbating. Porn has never done it for me at all and even written erotica I'm not terribly into, unless its BDSM related and then only if its really well written and usually more heavily emphasized on the psychological aspects and less on the actual sex aspects. Usually I don't even think of much of anything while masturbating, although on the occasions when I do its usually related to a couple of specific fetishes I have. When other people are involved in my mental fantasies, they are the sort of people I find aesthetically pleasing and the fantasies never involve actual sex, either myself having it or other people having it. The other people are more of a backdrop to my fetishes, their appearance related to setting the specific mood related to the culture of my fetishes.

I did clump fetish related material to porn even if there is no actual sex. I also watch erotica that have no sex component, and action is important to me I can't watch fake professional porn. I am not into story, but I am into the climate, the attitude. The most sex like thing that I watch is oral. But I don't even feel like that is important because it all feels the same, if I masturbate watching erotica, or oral it feels the same to me. I also don't need to add thinking about anything sexual when I watch erotica I never did.

The story doesn't make sense to me, maybe because I am asexual? But I just find the correlation between normal activities, and sex, that would be like studying together, and all of the sudden start to play football together, it just doesn't seem related to me. Stories that lead to sex always feel disjointed to me.

Autosexual

Autosexual is a term that describes a person that derives adequate sexual satisfaction from masturbation. An Asexual may also be autosexual, being capable of taking care of bodily arousal without needing to seek partnered sex.

I think you won't accept this definition though I believe you get more understandin about asexual.

I rarely post but prefer readin since my English is limited though i have to say sorry for myself readin on some posts.

with the male genitalia it makes a certain amount of stuff. for some it is fine thay have sex and get rid of it that why or; for aseuals the production of the stuff is lowe so the body can reasorb it. if none of the above apply like me it comes out in a painful maner and on its own time. so to avode this i do masterbate. yes i am a asexual.

Well, you know, it ties right into the ongoing debate of whether or not asexuals exist. Since it's all theoretical at this point, I can understand the contention. I guess we just have to hope that the Large Hadron Collider will eventually find proof of the existence of asexuality, at which point the answer to this question will also become clear.
