I do masturbate because it feels nice but thats all it isn't a wanting to jump into bed with people thing and I don't think about anything whilst doing it.

I use it as a form of stress relief... I don't find it particularly pleasurable, but its good as relief.

I'm an asexual and I masturbate. I don't need to and I don't feel compelled to. I can ignore an itch just fine. When I do choose to, I want to because I enjoy it, but I never have a need.

It's only natural. It's funny because my body and mind seem completely seperate on the matter.

For many asexuals, masturbation is simply a physical release.

This. I don't know about sexuals, but for me it's mostly when I'm tense and bored. Physically, it feels good.

Sexuals say they think of people/situations when they do it, but I just sort of space out.

Again no idea about others, but I only do it twice or so every year.

I masturbate when my body feels like it needs it. It physically feels good, but that's all I really get out of it. I haven't done it as of late.

I think the same thing as you about masturbation

Hm yes, it does feel nice, not reason enough though to go through all that effort, ickyness and the mental weirdness during --- There's just something inside that tells me now and then that 'action' is required, if you copy. :P

Without 'action' it gets really uncomfortable after a few days, usually.

I never felt desire to do that... I mean... why? I don't get it.

I find I masturbate for release of Tension and stress. When I do it, I never think about me having sex with other people, and its usually just seeing other people naked or being sexual with themselves. I don't feel the need or want to have sex with anyone I fantasize about, I just enjoy seeing them alone. If I fantasize about someone I know, I feel bad about it afterwards and have no attraction to them outside of when I masturbate.

At least for me: Because I can. ;) Curiosity drove me to try and it does sometimes help with stress, and it can feel good. I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly could "take it or leave it" and do just fine.

My asexual partner Does masterbate.. but 99% of the time he calls it a chore so it doesnt say hello.. He has fetishes and when she watches porn she does not like nudity she is attracted to the sexy clothes :)

It's funny because my body and mind seem completely seperate on the matter.

Wow, this describes me way too well. I've always noticed before I discovered I was asexual, that my mind would always be in other world whenever I always masturbate. Now I know why.

For me, I think the "itch" analogy fits me. Of course, I'll admit it does feel nice and helps to relieve stress for me.

I'd go with the itch description too. I tried masturbating back when I was sixteen, didn't know asexuality existed and was convinced I was supposed to be feeling something for other people. It took quite a lot of effort to feel anything down there the first time, but practise has helped. I tend to masturbate out of habit, when I'm bored and when I'm procrastinating.

I don't see anything wrong with the combination of being an asexual who masturbates, because an asexual is someone who feels no sexual attraction towards another person and I have never felt sexual (or romantic) attraction. I also think the itch can be attributed to age and hormones, being nineteen and all, but mostly just habit/conditioning.

Actually, I think the problem is that: you have an asexual brain and soul, but like anyone else, you own a normal body, and your body will react to sexual attraction though you want or don't want to.

To my mind, I prefer not to do it: pure asexual, both soul and body.

I've been masturbating since I was 5 years old, so it really doesn't have any sexual connotations unless you want it to have them.

Yes, I masturbate. And no, it's not sexual...heck, last time I masturbated I was thinking about my last haircut! "Let my mind go blank" doesn't work for me.

I'm male. My testes produce semen, and it builds up. Relieving that build up feels good. It's that simple.

I think its mostly hormonal for me, my body just needs it about the same time every month. It does feel good, but there is no fantasy attached to it. I just tend to hear whatever music I last listened to really (strangely) clearly in my head, or justthink about my shopping list or whatever while my body does its thing.

I masturbate. I never felt a need to do it (and didn't even know I, a girl, even could) until six years ago when I read an article or something about it and was curious enough to try. It felt good enough that I've been doing it ever since.

I don't fantasize about sexual stuff while I do it, I play music and just kinda lose myself in the rhythms and sounds. My (sexual) bf loves when I masturbate 'cause it's the closest to real sexuality I can get, but achieving orgasm during sex (via masturbatory self-stimulation during the act) or even when masturbating while he's touching me (even in non-sexual ways) is nigh impossible. Even if he isn't touching me, just is nearby or in earshot, the orgasm is frustratingly weak, nothing at all like when I'm alone.

It serves several different purposes for me. For one, it just feels amazing. I know all the "toe curling," "earth shaking," "waves of pleasure washing over me" cliches sound trite and overblown, and alien to those who haven't felt it themselves, but it really is that way for me. For another, it's a way to reconnect with myself, to feel at home in my body; the most liberating experience of my life, as a person, a woman, and an asexual, was discovering the kind of pure joy I could give myself. Thirdly, it's a cure for insomnia, boredom, anger, menstrual cramps, and/or a racing mind. Finally, it does serve as a way for me to release stress, tension, and other emotions, the same way every couple of months I just need a good hard cry.

As for frequency, I tend to do it about 5 times a week, usually right before I go to sleep. It's more of a habit then an actual physical "itch" or need, sometimes I just forget to do it and it doesn't bother me. The busier and more stressed I am, the less I do it, because of time constraints and tiredness. Conversely, if I have nothing going on and am bored I do it more, and even sometimes feel a real need to do it, even in the middle of the day. I have noticed that the more I do it, the more I want it. If I go long enough without being able to do it, my active desire to do it effectively vanishes. I always go back to it, though.

I kinda started the same way except a female friend of mine gave me the final push till i decided to try it and i liked it for a while then went cold turkey for 2 years. But really im kinda envious of people who have ograsms like that ive never experienced something like that in my life is it I wonder if i drew the short straw in genetics

I think it might be mainly a male vs female thing. I've read a lot that indicates female orgasms tend to be a lot more intense than males'. For example, my boyfriend's orgasm will last two seconds at most and he describes it as a feeling of release of tension, satisfying but not necessarily pleasurable in itself (the activity leading up to it is the pleasure for him). If it wasn't for his sexual urges I don't know if he would bother masturbating either. Whereas mine can last a whole minute or longer and it's during the actual orgasm that the majority of physical pleasure is derived (the stuff leading up to that sometimes just seems like work).

But that's just my opinion based on limited experience. I've never asked any other guy what his orgasms were like. I am interested in hearing from other asexual males about how intense theirs are. And females; do asexuals tend to orgasm as "strongly" as sexuals?

For me it can vary from barely noticeable (and lasting a second or two) to earth shattering (and well over 10 seconds). There's a bit of randomness in there but usually the greater the length of time since my previous orgasm, and the longer the buildup the more intense it is.

Probable TMI:

If I use slower strokes the initial buildup does not necessarily seem to that much longer but it then takes ages to get from the "I'm just about to" stage to actually orgasming. It's how long that tension lasts which seems to contribute to a more intense orgasm. Seemed to get the same effect when I had sex - because I'd spend ages in the "about to" stage (whic

Sometimes strongly, sometimes not. The strongest was too much. I almost fainted. :-D Which is other reason why I don´t want to have sex with a partner. The idea that I could faint and he could do something I don´t want when I would be unable to do anything against it makes me very uncomfortable.

But I end every masturbation with orgasm, so I think most of sexual women have surely less orgasms than me. What a paradox!:-D Unfortunately, no matter how strong they are, they are quickly away. I like most this feeling just before orgasm itself - it is intensive and lasts much longer than orgasm.

That's a good point actually. I've noticed a similar thing, where the more "false starts," so to speak, I have (meaning I get right up to the verge of big O but then something distracts me and I lose it and have to start the buildup again), the more intense it will be when I finally do achieve it. Also if I go a long time without masturbating the more intense it will be when I do get back into it, whereas when I'm more habitual with it, it levels out to a consistent intensity.

(I am being highly rude by only skimming the first page)

I'd like to explain my own experiences with masturbation.

First of all, there is no pleasure in it. My feet are much more sensitive than my genitalia.

Second of all, I wish I could stop; I simply got into the habit of doing it when I was in bed and needed to sleep, and now it's a habit.

Plus, if I don't do it for a week, that area beings to ache.

I honestly dont get why asexuals who are not interested in sex would do something like that..

Well i dont do it and i think its disgusting to be honest whether you are sexual or not.

I think masturbation is fun and not disgusting, but I do not do it so much anymore because my libido has decreased to almost nothing over time.

I can't speak for other asexuals, but for myself I do it because its fun. I have little to no actual libido, but all my parts still work and sometimes its an enjoyable way to spend a little bit of time. I don't understand why it would be disgusting, its just as natural as any other sexual act. Personal repulsion I understand but I don't understand this (seemingly widespread in the AVEN community) absolute disgust at anything vaguely sexual. Maybe its not intended this way by those that adhere to that sentiment, but it strikes me as a bit judgemental.

I can see why people would be repulsed by sex but honestly I feel kinda sorry for those disgusted by touching themselves, it just seems like self-hate to me. It's your own body, you live in it every day. But maybe I've got the wrong impression about where that disgust is coming from.
