do asexuals masterbate?

For ages I thought I was a voyeur because I don't mind porn, or reading about sex and I do get turned on. But the thought of watching people doing it live in front of me... ugh.

I'll stick to my Rampant Rabbit. It doesn't try to feel me up when I'm watching TV.

I've never ever masterbated because it's sounds completely horrible. Even the idea weirds me out.

I mean seriously, what possible pleasure could ever be had from masterbating?

>.< I suppose it's like algerbra, I'll never understand it.

Apart from the emotions it triggers through the hormone rush (which are a little bizarre when you're asexual and not thinking thoughts that seem appropriate to the emotions) it's a physical sensation and apart from (I'm assuming) sex, unique. If you've never experienced the physical sensation then no one can evoke it by explaining it, any more than you can explain the beauty of a colour to a blind person. There's no experience I can think of that carries the same sensation.

I agree that it sounds horrible, and weird. The disgust is deferred for later; in my case anyway.

Sure. I do sometimes. But I think I'm different than sexuals in that I don't think of anything while I'm doing it. I was reading a book once in which the main characters mentioned thinking of a hot guy while doing it or some fantasy hook up, etc while doing it, and I just can't do that. Truth be told, if you asked me, I couldn't think of anyone who I'd classify as "hot". I just don't understand it.

This may come across as odd.... but I'd been doing it since I was 6. So, I'm more than capable of doing it myself. It's always and only been connected to fetishes. In fact, if a thought about guys ever popped into my head, I'd get turned off. It's always been that way.

Same here, except I was a little older.

Me too

Yeah, guys masturbating is pretty healthy, "keeping the pipes clean" so to speak...I'm glad girls don't have a reason to do it, ew.

I get masturbation and my mind thinks of darkness or black nothingness when doing so.

also from zanedia ( couldnt figure how to quote 2 people at the same time)

"In fact, if a thought about guys ever popped into my head, I'd get turned off. It's always been that way."

exactly

Men actually have to masturbate or they will suffer severe pain and/or start having wet dreams. The body has to release that semen somehow. And an orgasm is a very pleasant feeling, far better than drugs or alcohol. I actually don't know if I could be asexual if I didn't masturbate.

I do it a lot..I've tried stopping before but that didn't work at all. It doesn't bother me as much now that I don't feel guilt from doing this (I used to wonder if masturbating was a sin..I then somehow came to the conclusion that I highly doubt it is)

I do it fairly often. It's one of the few things that get me to sleep quickly (the others being exercising right before bed or taking a hot shower.) Reading a book or whatever don't work for me because I cannot put a book down just because I'm tired if I like it and if I don't like it I'll put it down and fret over whatever I can for a few hours.

I don't. Not because I think it's "bad," but because I've never really desired to do so. I think it's normal for people to masturbate and that's okay with me, I just don't do it myself.

I've never desired to do it either.

Maybe it's more of a guy thing... ?

Just don't see any point to it. Also, kind of ick.

So I guess I'm a romantic nonmasturbatory heteroasexual. RNH. Doesn't have much of a ring to it.

Nice way of putting it, not sure about the girl bit, why is boys masturbating OK, but girls masturbating ucky?

I read that 'cleaning the pipes' so to speak, decreases your rick of getting urine related issues, and even cancer by quite some percent, so males masturbating is quite good for you.

Ultimatley tho, it's good for all sexes. It's help to relax the body by releasing natural hormones which help calm the body, that's why alot of people (mostly boys) masturabte during exam times (no not during the exam, you filthy minded people  ), helps concentration.

I just always use it to defeat insomnia.

This part has raised a question I thought I didn't have.

It's been mentioned that for some people the act of masterbation "keeps the pipes clean?" but I can't see how?

If as I did, I had a child within marriage in my early twenty's and there after had a vasectomy through laser burning the tubes closed how would that tube being blocked fit in with the need to clear the tubes?

Since my early teens, more through curiousness than enjoyment I have not masterbated for over 30 years then if the pipe clean idea is correct then I should be experiencing all kinds of issues but I'm not?

I can also see why some asexuals feel the act of masterbation is non sexual as it is not involved with another party but for me it would still appear to be a sexual arousal whatever the idea behind it.

Like vegatarians I suppose there are different layers within the term Asexual.

Some say they are vegatarian but eat fish or will eat white meat, me I was a true vegatarian and explained it as I never eat anything with a face.

That layering of levels should not be discounted as we are all individuals.

I don't masterbate, feel the need for it but the worlds a free place

I think, the girls (not everybody!) here dont do it and the boys must have to do it, because if they wont do, in the morning they will find/see supprise :)

i'm not sure i understand the first part of your sentence, "men actually have to masturbate".

i prefer to have sexual release happen during sleep (wet dreams) than to masturbate. wet dreams are both more natural (not a behavior one willfully choses to engage in), and also, more vivid. when i wake up right after a wet dream and remember it, i feel as if i just had sex, usually being penetrated by a man.

however is it true that if i did not have these wet dreams that i do have, i would suffer pain!??!?

anyway, in my early adolescence, i masturbated about 1-2 times a week.

thereafter that dropped down to 1-2 times every month, and nowadays in recent yrs only a few times year if i am bored to death or suffering insomnia . usually to myself in the mirror or in bed before sleep, in interest of tiring myself and feeling sleepy/falling asleep. i only do it when i convince myself that it will help me fall asleep.

i have had a gay roomate around who asked me to watch porn with him a couple times and i was sitting there not aroused at all while he was intensely aroused and wacking away through his boxers. i couldnt understand it. to me its no different than watching animal planet, why get off on watching animal reproductive behaviour?

in fact, my dick shrinked. this often happens when i am around people that are sexually suggestive or aroused, my dick shrinks and even if i previously felt like kissing or hugging or cudding, i suddenly feel not interested in doing so, and feel non-sexual.

and really yeah as for masturbation, i just leave seminal release up to wet dreams, as masturbation is a questionable practice spiritually/religiously, whereas wet dreams are automatic.

Lol...sounds more like some new kind of DNA/RNA/etc.

I've tried it somewhat (though not "all the way") and yeah...I feel the same. Sometimes it helps me fight insomnia, but sometimes it just kind of...disturbs me that I even resorted to such a thing and then it keeps me up even longer.

I've heard that girls feel more sensitive down there when Aunt Flo's about to visit, and that's when I usually get the urge, though usually only late at night or when I wake up (more so at night). I really don't like the idea of it, though. I can't get myself to actually touch down below unless I'm in the restroom (where I can clean off immediately), so if I'm trying to go to bed, most of the time I just kinda put my leg over a pillow and attempt to drift off to sleep, muffling the "itch."

I do, though I kindof wish I didn't. It's just like an addiction - a sudden craving that you have no control over. I'm not religious, and so the idea of masturbation being sinful was never an issue for me (though I believe that idea is often used by religion to control others; holding them up to standards they can't naturally keep and making them feel guilty when they fail, thus causing them to ask for forgiveness...) However, that does not stop the fact that I'd like to have the control over myself not to have those urges. They feel like my body trying to overcome my mind..

I do, because it feels good and I like it. However, when I do, I generally don't think of anything other than what is directly happening - no fantasies or anything like that. That's what I think makes it still count as "asexual." I'm fine with myself, but I don't really want that with anybody else.

Ha! Same..... I do masturbate and get sexual "fantasies" (although its not always about sex, often its for reasons already mentioned in previous posts) but I have absolutely no desire to act on these in reality, and I don't think I could go through with it even if I wanted to. If it weren't for the fact that I know other people around me are having sex and not just porn stars then it probably wouldn't even occur to me that normal people have sex- well at least to some extent anyway.......
