I'm right-handed personally

Ambidextrous, but I use my right hand for writing. I went to a religious preschool and primary school, and they quickly put a stop to any attempts at writing with my left hand.

If the results continue to skew left-handed, I'd blame the fact that us lefties are so eager to tell the world about it, while for someone who's in the 90% group there's barely a point to answering.

But why? This is so strange. Is it some discimination of left-handed people or what

😳🤪 To the left? To the right?

I'm left-handed, although I sometimes prefer for few other things the right, I used to be able to write with both, with preference for the left, so the lack of writing with the right makes me too tired when I try now (as I hardly write with in paper now), also I write ugly with the right (and the left anyway jajaja).

Mosty my issues are related to the knives 😥, but could just be that I'm a bit dump in the kitchen hahah, I sense knives are sharped on the wrong side (to me).  I find that the edge is opposite to the direction I need to cut, so when I need to peel something, I do it cutting to my side which is pretty dangerous, when I do it with the right hand, I can peel in the proper direction but with no precision which is also dangerous 😓

Spoiler

I'm right-handed (and picked that option), but I've been using my left-hand recently for writing as a way to compensate wrist pain. Would that make me ambidextrous?

I’m right handed but like half of my family is left handed

I'd say right-handed, but with an odd subset of tasks I basically only do with my left.

Right handed but also left eye  dominant; this may be why I'm so shit at darts 😄

For many things I am right-handed, but I am also left handed with some things. Probably because I broke my right hand (has two metal plates) so I had to use my left for most things for 6-8 months, and my right hand still gets very painful if I do too much with it.

@DeltalorianI'm sorry you had to deal with that. I was lucky that my religious school didn't do that (they did try to teach me how to hold a pencil properly as a lefty and then eventually gave up). However, my grandfather and great-grandfather were forced to be right-handed.

It used to be considered sinister, literally. The word, "sinister", means "left" (as in direction) in Latin.

Forcing people to write with right hand doesn't make sense because handedness is genetic (right-handedness is dominant). So how can someone think that left-handedness is wrong? And why, only because it's less common? It sounds like discrimitation to me.

I made a joke a while ago that the left half of my body is useless because I'm right handed and also right footed (learned that through skating). lowkey I cannot do anything with my left anywhere close to the same degree as my right. although, the brain is contralateral, meaning the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left half of the body, and vice versa. so at least the left half of my brain is useful! ❤️

I'm left handed but because of how I've been taught everything I do pretty much everything other than writing with my right hand...

I don't really know how to vote. Voted ambidextrous, based on my life.

I've been ambidextrous with still dominant left hand for my whole life, but after my left hand got paralysed, I do some things like writing and such with my right hand, out of must.

Funny thing, my left hand still tries to be the dominant one. Apparently it's a good sign.

In some cultures they beat the left handedness out of people because they considered left handedness to be of the devil, or evil.

I'm only ambidextrous when I'm doing my cardistry, otherwise I'm right handed.

Exactly. Unfortunately that's how it is/was seen in some times and cultures.

That was the case with my dad, too. He's "originally" left-handed, but in school, teachers were forcing him to use his right hand. My mum was the same, always getting angry when I was using my left hand... even though she's mixed dominant herself. Which means, some things she is able to do only with her right hand, and some only with her left.

Now I can't use my left hand for writing, holding kitchenware or tools etc., but I remember I was always using screwdrivers or wrenches at work with my left hand because it was more precise. I honestly miss that.

The left side of the brain is the logical side controlling the right side of the body, the right side of the brain is creative controlling the left side of the body, meaning that you're a logical person who excels in subjects like physics and math.

Left handed people are usually more artistic.

...but then, that's the only thing  I'm terrible with words, with creative writing, literature, all that. Honestly, physics and maths and all that is much easier for me

And thanks ^_^

As a neuroscientist, I can tell you that this is actually a myth. The left brained/right brained theory is old and has been disproved. There is not enough evidence to show that left handed people are more artistic, most studies show no significant difference between the artistic skills of left and right handed people.

He is a remarkable surgeon, but I'm not the biggest fan of his politics.

My hero would probably have to be Oliver Sacks: he inspired me to become a scientist to begin with.
