Oh, it was a decent car, that was not the problem. I was just so aware that every little steering adjustment would have a much bigger impact than it would have at a lower speed... It made me uncomfortable. I rather just watch F1 from my couch.

Yeah, my little sister and her husband are addicted to F1, personally I don't see the draw to motorsports. 🤣

My car isnt made for speed but on an empty road, Ive hit 110mph. It was a great feeling. Of course, its not like I can do that every day but on an empty road at night, thats the best!

It's a great feeling, isn't it? I know my little brother wanted to buy like a Ferrari or Porsche and take it out to the track, but me and one good friend talked him out of it. I value him too much lol, and I know he would probably try to speed on the regular street. :)

Another thing about driving in the winter with a car that doesn't have ABS for those of us old enough to remember, you've got to pump the brakes. Otherwise you just slide out into the intersection and look stupid.

I think I was over 150 mph but I can't remember because It's been a long time since I last played Need For Speed

I was driving my '72 Buick (which I restored & still have) on the highway and looked at the speedometer and saw I was going 100 mph, I am like, whoa... so I slowed down...  It's like I didn't feel it at all.  The engine is so powerful it just doesn't hesitate.  I guess it's built for speed.

I was once in a car with a trans woman who was driving at 100 miles per hour.  She wanted me to get to class on time.

Since most of the roads I've been on aren't either made for it or there's usually too much traffic, the most I've gone is 120

None of the above. Fastest I've ever gone is like 80mph. Should be no surprise to anyone I drive like I'm old.

160-ish km down the main drag of Victoria in BC. Had to weave through traffic. Trying to get somebody to a hospital. I am earnestly lucky I didn't get taken out or hit somebody.

I didn't vote. The options are all too high for me.

Same here 😅 I got my drivers license 5 years ago because my parents wanted me to, but to me driving is terrifying. Maybe it's because no one respects the rules in my hometown, people from other cities usually refuse to drive when they see how it's like. Lucky thing I moved abroad so I don't have to drive anymore.

By the way, I think I reached 100 kilometers per hour the only time I drove in the highway and I was almost crying 😂

When I was a passenger with my dad driving he got up to either 110 or 120 mph while we were on a stretch of highway that was straight for miles and miles. He only did it for a few seconds to see what if feels like and to get a picture of his speedometer and post it to Facebook. Like Dad why are you not only driving that fast but using your phone to take a picture of your speedometer, your daughter is in the car lol.

Actually it was the speed glitch in the Porsche Taycan in Forza Horizon 5:

That jump gave me the creepers. It's like a dream where you feel you're falling. And yeah right, coming out of that jump like that. Entirely realistic 😂

On games, 1300 mph. On real life, 70 mph.

On that note, km/h > mph.

Or I this could happen... (he even scared his dad lol)

Although I find this a bit silly, I found this video much funnier. Shows these people a lesson. One even asked if she could drive that car because it's 'really a man's car' 😂 I hope he won't make that mistake again. Now let me get on with my work. Stop distracting me! 🙂

@ElloryJaye Shouldn't watch the two speed videos from the games I posted, it will not be pretty (motion sickness).

Wipeout? Redout? Thumper? Or a speed glitch in a game?

And yes km/h is obviously better than mph, you feel like you're going faster for one!

Actually, it was 1996 Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, and modded as well. Going on a fast car in a stretched road.

Probably somewhere around 100mph when passing on the freeway. I tend to be fairly cautious and not exceed the speed limit by more then 5mph or so when driving.

Up to 200mph if you count the F1 racing games, although I usually race GT3 cars in iRacing, and aside from the longest straights they don't get much above 150mph.

110 but if I remove the speed governor and supercharge my LeSabre I could go well over 160 and have good acceleration

When people pass their driving test I think everyone should be shown images of what happens when they have a high speed crash. Brag about it then people. I think this is a topic that winds me up. Especially since people aren't even safe driving at slower speeds.

I will say that my last car was a MK1 Audi TT coupe (225) with a top speed of 151 MPH. Not that it matters since I go the speed limit and try to be a safe driver.

I agree that it is wrong to go too fast.... and that the consequences can be terrible.

Which is why I've only gone super fast a few times in my life. I wouldn't do it again, and I don't think most of the people replying to this thread are proud of their top speeds of all time, they're just saying what they have done in terms of top speed just to reflect upon it.

Oh and btw, the MK1 Audi TT Coupe is a sweet car, I had a neighbor who had one, it's a nice vehicle to be sure. In some ways it looks better than the newer one. :)

I didn’t necessarily mean the people here. Just people in general that don’t understand the destruction it causes.

I was knocked off my bike by a hit and run driver as a child and just watch bad driving daily and it honestly really p***** me off. What’s worse is how manufacturers are integrating so much technology into cars that it’s just going to exacerbate the situation.

The MK1 TT is a nice car. Often overlooked. I found it comfortable, liked the cocoon feel and the Quattro made traction really great.

My housekeeper used to make fun of my neighbor's car and said that it looked like a frog! 🤣

I suppose a little bit. Never thought about it. Better looking than the VW Beetle at least, which is like its cousin. One could say the Porsches often look like a frog but people like them.

Hmmmm, never thought about that either. And Porsches are my favorite vehicle of all. I want to one day own a Porsche 911 Turbo S, before I die. I'll probably buy one in my retirement. I'll be able to justify the cost then.

Based on people's requests, I declare that I did not drive faster than 180 kм/h. If the road was empty and there was no need to be afraid of the police, then I would press the gas pedal to the floor. 8)

0 mph (I’ve never driven a car before)

The top speed of our vehicle is 90 kph and it gets very uncomfortable then. It is strictly made for utility and local use, not for fast travelling over great distances on smooth roads.

90mph and that was an accident! I meant to stay steady around 80 (still very much speeding) but accelerated without realising. I haven’t driven in a few years and definitely not here in England. This was in New Jersey where the highway speed limit was 65mph.

Yeah, somewhere around 90 mph once, on one of the wide open highways in the western US where you can literally see for miles and no one else is in sight. I only did it briefly and immediately backed off. It was too fast for my comfort zone.

I briefly touched about 90mph/150kmh once, very late at night (well after midnight) whilst I was on the motorway, going home. I slowed down as soon as i realised.

  • 1 year later...

130-140 km/h

Almost got caught by the miles/h. I can't see the results because I have never driven so fast but you are all speed devils, damn.
