Unpopular opinion, please don't come at my throat for this one, but I say sure to gender neutral bathrooms, once penis-baring beings learn to aim or to clean after themselves.

I'm sick and tired of cleaning after clumsy males I shared spaces with (hadn't had this problem with a trans woman yet, tbh).

Digging up old topics is generally considered not nice, but I haven't noticed this response before...

I've read that there is a simple trick to increase men's aiming accuracy ;): create urinals with targets in the approproate place. It, supposedly, immediately triggers guys' challenge instincts and makes them try to hit as close to the centre as possible.

Very simple versions can include just a target painted on the surface or even a decal on the porcellain surface, but as far as I know, there are even sophisticated digitalised version which emit some sound of flash a light if the user manages to hit the centre with their urine stream. Although, this could be a little annoying to other people in the bathroom if beeping noises were constantly coming from the stalls.

I had to vote as soon as I saw that this popped up as recently typed in. Yes! Please! Always! Seeing them in public places makes me feel glittery.

I'm pro single restrooms, disable people restroom, family oriented restroom, lady, boys, girls, etc, whatever. I mean, the more the better, I just don't want to be in a queue to do my needs. I don't see the need to have only one gender neutral restroom, if we can demand all of them for everybody's needs, for example disable people needs more space and other things, while parents needs tables to change diapers. Maybe a women or an old lady doesn't feel comfortable with sharing the restroom with a men (the same physical space, mirror and so on at the same time) and maybe others are into them for whatever the reason is. Why not to have both? I know there is a space things issue, but there is also a social need too: the need for many restrooms, specially in malls and very crowded places in general.

I support gender-neutral restrooms, but I still think we should be given an option of a one-room restroom or a room with stalls.  I personally am more comfortable with stalls because it’s easier to see if the stall is occupied.  Some one-room restrooms don’t have an “occupied” sign, and then random people are turning the doorknob as you’re on the toilet and you’re praying the lock holds up and/or that you locked it correctly.

one good thing about gender-neutral restrooms that I don’t think anyone has mentioned is that is great for single parents.  Women have to take their young boys into a women’s room and men have to take their young girls into a men’s room — assuming no family restroom is available.  Eliminating gender-specific restrooms will make that experience much less awkward for the parent and child.

If I was a man, I absolutely wouldn't insert you know what into this hole. It's unhygienic. Eliminating splashing - great, but not in a way which would reqire multiple penises to touch the urinal.

yes for single-occupancy gender neutral bathrooms—didn't know about that term before a few minutes ago, thanks AVEN! out of personal experience i'd give a strong no to mixed-sex bathrooms: i've had enough bad experiences in male public restrooms to know there are some guys with high opinions of themselves who are INSANELY good at wrecking them to bits, and don't even get me started on the number of instances of "horseplay" harassment i've borne witness to.

Yes, female, asexual, other (very romantic with my partner, but I do not know the type/extent due to lack of experience with dating).

The most common here is neutral bathrooms which I think work fine, I don't see why they should be separated. Nonbinary aroace.

For q1 I voted other.

I think there should be 3 different bathrooms:

Standees (urinals only)

Sitees (stalls only)

Disabled (because getting rid of them is a stupid idea)

Urinals take up less space (even if better privacy things are added), which means a standees bathroom could be half the size of sitees' but still have similar (if not greater) capacity. This will increase capacity for those who need to sit which, let's face it, always has the longer queue when at events. - Also, we should normalise shewee (or equivalent; as I imagine someone would invent something better if this bathroom model were to be the norm) so that people with vaginas don't HAVE to wait in line for a stall if they just need to pee and are comfortable with the idea of using a urinal.

i think its a good idea, but in my old high school, where they attempted to implement it, it was really poorly done.

they shut down the toilets for ages and when they reopened it was this open area with about 6 or 7 toilets on each side with sinks in the middle.

THE PROBLEM IS: they had one side for girls and one side for boys (even though these were supposed to be gender neutral), it defeated the whole point of it. when students complained they made one toilet at the end of the boys row for any other gender which totally alienates them and, in a school setting where people can be really horrible to others, makes them essentially have to come out to everyone if they want to even use it. the whole situation was a nightmare, they even forgot to provide sanitary bins for periods. i honestly just think that the whole gender neutral toilets thing was just an excuse to open up the toilets so the teachers can monitor us and make sure we arent on phones.

i dont know, it was all so stupid i was mentally facepalming every 2 minutes. it was at first a really cool idea that could have been totally inclusive to students but they managed to mess it up in ways i dont even know possible. it has the same energy as those t-shirts with the non-binary flag that are gendered

what the heck even O_O;;

if i have a penis, i would be very very afraid to use these. it's either a very suspiciously shaped shredder or a body part stealing vacuum....

seriously, i saw a comment somewhere online that was basically like "bathrooms should be separated by function instead of gender. people go #1 in one bathroom and go #2 in another bathroom." which. like. ok sure. maybe it'd be faster or cleaner or something at least?

I support gender neutral bathrooms, since they help people feel comfortable. When you need to go, you need to go. Asexual, grey romantic. I don't really know what gender I identify as, and am comfortable with most pronouns, typically referred by male pronouns since it's easier due to my body type, but don't identify as male.

I support whichever mode of going to the restroom works for the person. I’m not well enough versed in this since I’m cisgender male. I’m trying to learn more though so it’s always helpful to learn more from the communities at large.
