Dog, more precisely a Golden Labrador. And my gf owns one, called Molly, also I used to have mostly dogs (and cats) growing up, so I love dogs! ^_^

I chose multiple, for cat or dog. Up until recently I would have very much said cat, but I recently got a puppy and she is so adorable, and I couldn't imagine loving her any more than I do.

Guinea Pig, I had a few of them in the past.

Cat, I just love cats. Nothing surprising that I mention my two cats here ^_^

Also like big dogs, mostly German shepherds.

I miss my dog. Some day I'll have another.

Thanks, he's been gone for a couple of years now--made it all the way to fifteen years!

I'd get a dog tomorrow except for the specific combination of my job and where I'm living which make that a bit difficult.

Wow, sounds like he lived a good long life.

I'd also get a dog tomorrow if I could, but they don't allow pets where I live. So yeah...

All of my friends thought it was weird to have frogs as pets...

They were wild frogs of our garden but there is some sort of hole with a horizontal fence on top and the frogs would just fall in. When we saw that we gave the frogs things to eat and days later we would just find dried out frogs in the house cause they escaped literally all the time but new ones would come so it was fine.

Snakes. Hands down the easiest pets I have ever had. They all have vastly different personalities and I love them all in their own way. Even when they are refusing to eat and driving me crazy.

Oh I love them I would really want some. What species were yours?

@SlicedUpSnake

I have 2 Ball Pythons (the picky eaters)

1 Western/Plains Hognose (drama queen)

1 Dumerils Boa (new guy, still figuring out his personality but he's pretty chill)

I swear snakes are even easier pets in terms of basic care requirements than goldfish. They like hanging out with me for a little bit and then they hit a point where they tell me they are done and want to go back to their enclosures. It's all about learning their individual body language.

The only downside is they are not really snuggly like my cat is. But my cat is old so he looks at them and just gives me this look like "That looks like a fun toy to play with, but I am way to lazy to walk over and even sniff it so you have fun." I would be more worried with a younger, more energetic cat trying to mess with them.

All in all, they are great pets, but not for everyone. My mom who was ambivalent towards them is now absolutely in love with them all. My dad who has always been afraid of snakes likes watching them in their enclosures and will on some occasions hold one of them for a few minutes.

Cool

I'll probably go learn a bit more about them cause I'd like to take one in.

@SlicedUpSnake yeah, always do your research. If you ever want to talk about where to find info or types of snakes just private message me. If you haven't I recommend checking out Clint's Reptiles YouTube channel. He give a decent overview of a lot of species. Not necessarily care guides, but still good info.

I chose cat, but I also love dogs. If I ever get a pet again someday it would more likely be a cat. But a certain kind of dog I could have, if they aren’t too big and unruly.

If I'd ever get a dog (very small chance), it'd probably also not be a big one (mostly for convenience' sake), though I do have a weakness for Newfoundland dogs

Yay I remembered well :D

If I ever got a dog (very small chance), it'd be German shepherd because both me and my SO like them the most of all dogs. But our house is way too small for such a big dog.

Cats for sure. They're basically a furry little friend who wanders around the house; what's not to like? To me, they're clearly the best pet. I've had more than one cat who was my best friend. I understand dogs can be similar for people who like to be around them, but I'm afraid of them.

I've had a variety of rodents in the past (hamsters, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, mice), and they're kind of neat, but the combination of being cage-kept critters and not living long at all is why I'll probably never have another one. Rats especially are neat, though.

Lizards and snakes are cool, but I've never had one, and they do seem difficult to take care of and a little more difficult to interact with.

Cats all the way!
I grew up with cats (two, who were just as old as I was) and had two cats when I moved out. Unfortunately, one of them got really stressed when we had a baby, so we moved her to live with a friend of ours. I actually visited her a couple of weeks back! She's 14 now. The other cat stayed with us until she died of cancer at the age of 17, now three years ago. I still miss her, even though she slept most of the day, haha!

My husband is allergic to cats and dogs (something we discovered after we already had two cats), so he doesn't want a new cat. Instead, we indulged our son and got two bunnies: French Lops. We only have 1 left, she lives a happy life in our backyard, where she has free roam. My other kid has a hamster and we also have a small aquarium with fish and shrimps.

I like to watch the fish, but the hamster and the bunny are a bit boring. Also, while I'm certain that our bunny is perfectly happy outside (she starts stomping angrily whenever I take her in when the weather gets too bad), I still worry a bit during winters. I prefer inside-pets :)

Why do people always prefer cats over dogs? 😵

Might be more of an internet thing? Self-selecting, introverts, cat-lovers might be more likely to spend more time online, while extroverts and dog-lovers may be more likely to go out into analog space. :P

Me too!!  I want one so badly, but I live in the desert and they love the water, so it wouldn't be right for me to get one. :(
