Dawning
Phallus-Preserving Vaginoplasty is a real thing, although not being done very many places yet. There are people who can actually cycle between male and female sexual functionality with their own plumbing. This is just amazing to me! Has anyone here had it? Would you want to get it? everywhere and nowhere
Let's say, in a way as much privacy-preserving as possible, that I know someone who considered getting it. Ultimately she had colon vaginoplasty (due to her original small penis size, the typical inversion technique could have left her with a barely functional vagina, and she's straight). She even showed me photos - at that time I still used to have a libido and wasn't as averse to such views as I am now - and it was intriguing in a way. I think the biggest hurdle for someome interested in it would be finding someone who knows how to perform this kind of surgery - and also actually agrees to perform it, because "binary" bottom surgery is considered the norm, keeping one's original plumbing while transitioning to preferred gender in social functioning is accepted too... but this kind of sugery is considered a whim and luxury, not a real trans issue. 38 minutes ago, Dawning said: Would you want to get it? Well, first of all I couldn't, because I don't have the AMAB set. But regardless of that: a clear, straightforward NO, for many reasons: I am extremely nudity-averse and I won't let anyone see or touch my intimate parts. I don't intend to have any kind of partnered sex ever. I am now nonlibidoist and happy with it. I don't even pleasure myself because I just don't want to experience any sexual sensations, so even what I have now is useless. I'm also content with being a not particularly feminine woman, except that, due to my asexuality and lack of reproductive intent, the body doesn't matter much to me. I don't hate it, but I also see no reason to celebrate it. For me gender is, first of all, a political identity. So I don't need to change my gender characteristics. A female person's sexual functionality shouldn't be reduced to a hole. They get surgery to make a hole that can be penetrated which is great if that's what they want! But female's sexuality being reduced entirely to the hole between their legs is part of why women have suffered so much sexually for millennia. When the hole (ie the surgical one) is designed solely to be penetrated it isn't a good reflection of how females function sexually - there is a lot more to their pleasure and desire than a hole. Again it's awesome if that's what the person wants and it makes them feel more feminine - but female sexual functionality should never be reduced to that hole.
gndrqrd
Yeah, people like this are called salmacians! I'm not necessarily fully salmacian because I don't really want a phalloplasty but I do relate deeply to them. I love the idea of having both sets of genitalia.
Sarah-Sylvia
It's possible to get if a surgeon is willing to.. but I think rare that it would be covered by insurance, so would come out of pocket. I wouldn't want to keep :P, being mtf, but I do know some trans women who wanted to keep it though. Could say they're a bit more non-binary than me.

But remember, for this particular kind of surgery, that's all they have, and the purpose of getting it is specifically as a place to put a penis. It's difficult to wrap your brain around, and difficult to discuss because we have no frame of reference. It's fantastic that they have that choice now!

Just a small note but for some it may not just be about penises :P. I'm sure there are sapphic-oriented people who might ideally want that too. Personally getting vaginoplasty would/will be more personal than about sex, too.

I guess some folks forget that quickly that there are two other holes, the hands, and numerous other aspects to it.
Janus the Fox
Rarely see it, but I’ve seen examples, even if it’s from specific porn from my research a while back.
Albine
I saw a site from a practice in California that they do this type of procedure. I believe they remove the scrotum and create a neo vagina there, not sure of the exacted details but it is something that can be done.
