I have never heard of duck duck grey duck, and the only person I've ever known in Minnesota was my aunt and she moved away before her kids could learn it.

I've heard of both, but was never in a place where people said grey goose.

Definitely not something people say around here.

Although "Duck or Grouse" is a common sign in pubs with a low ceiling

Not from an anglophone country, so I had to check what the game was first, but we do have a Dutch/Flemish version, called 'zakdoekje leggen' ('put down the handkerchief'). It's quite similar, but instead of touching people on the head and saying 'duck duck goose' or whatever, the person who's it has to place a handkerchief behind one of the people in the circle - who all sit there with their eyes closed, singing a song, and at the end of the song, everyone has to turn around to check the handkerchief, and after that it's basically the same as the other version
