Virgin School

Is anyone here in the UK watching "Virgin School" tonight?

This poor guy is surely asexual! Why doesn't someone tell him that the only reason he feels the need to lose his virginity is because he has been conditioned to believe he must, to be a man!

He has a nice woman with her hands all over him and he isn't even getting aroused! When she caresses his penis, he says it feels "strange".
Now she is acting like his mother which is sure to confuse him even more.
Don't know how the hell this prog. is going to end. It is doing my head in!!
He may be losing his fear, but he doesn't seem to feel attracted or aroused.

2014 Mod Edit: "Virgin School" can be watched on Channel 4oD here, or in alternative on youtube here.

I haven't heard of this program... but I'm kind of freaked out that it actually exists. The dating-type shows are bad enough, I don't need to see someone lose their virginity or anything like that on TV! :x

I watched that too. Well, most of it. Had to keep switching over during the weirder bits! How the hell can you actually teach sex anyway? Even for someone who enjoys sex, it's supposed to be a part of a relationship first and foremost and something meaningful. I think our society has totally lost the plot if someone who is admittedly worried or nervous about having sex is happy enough to be filmed on TV naked in the shower having some woman masturbate him or rolling round in bed with a woman who is old enough to be his nan and acting like his mother! I personally didn't buy it at all though and I think it's just another 'shock value' programme to boost ratings. It did feel like watching a car crash! If the guy was genuine then I just hope he doesn't look back in a few years time and think 'oh my god! I can't believe I humiliated myself like that infront of millions of people just to try and fit in!' If he wasn't completely put off by sex before, I'm sure he is now!

Ok that sounds weird. Not sure I would want to watch it now!

I didn't watch it, but I had to sit through my co-workers talking about it for THREE HOURS today. From what I can tell it was indeed made for the shock value.

Note, in the end it said that he hadn't had sex since the filming. Surprised? No, I'm not either. It all sounds like a very bizarre, very traumatic experience.

I thought the same thing myself. At the end he said something like he'd realised that sex wasn't so important and that you don't need to have sex to be in a loving relationship. I'm just sorry that if he is asexual he felt the need to make a programme like this to realise it.

I wonder if there's any way to contact him. He should pay a visit to AVEN!

Parthenoxy, what a good idea!

I have to say that I did sit through all of it. Really it was typically an Amsterdam-type thing to do, and I felt more than ever by the end that he was asexual and possibly Aspie. Somewhere along the line this poor guy was taken for a ride. OK, he felt more confident after he had lost his virginity simply because he had been relieved of an expectation put upon him by a sex-obsessed society. However, yes, the bit at the end about he just wanted to find love, really said it all.

I feel this programme was an exploitation of an innocent and very likeable young man who actually needed someone to sit down with him and explain that sex isn't everything (so that he didn't have to go through that course to find out) and that you don't have to be like everyone else, and that sex, as you all say here, is or surely should be, a meaningful part of a loving relationship. I just felt sickened that he got into the whole thing, and the women there were old enough to have realised that he has problems beyond just being virgin (if indeed that was a problem) - we would all say it isn't.

I imagine that if he does meet someone special now, he will be mortified that his first experience was with a prostitute, not with his beloved. But first he needs to learn (if possible) about socialising, about making friends, about the horrible people that can be out there, about affection, etc. He has done the learning all upside down which I think can only be very damaging to such a sensitive soul.

If the prog. was just set up to shock then it was a horrible programme and I hope we don't see any more like them. In any case, as someone here just said, who needs to see a bloke lose his virginity. I could barely watch those parts and it kept me awake at night.

It sounds like yet another stupid exploitation show that just humiliates unwary people in front of a vast television audience. Let's all do ourselves a favor and shut the thing off.

thylacine - most of the time I do! There are only one, possibly two programmes that I will make an effort to sit down and watch each week. The amount of rubbish on tv is astounding these days! But it seems every person I meet is addicted to it! I'm not old enough to be moaning about 'when I was a child' just yet, so there must be a real problem.
