well, I had to say paddington because he was in the list, but I'd like to name a few honourable mentions (imo):

- rilakkuma

- ice bear (we bare bears)

- brown (line friends)

(sorry if my taste in bears is painfully obvious)

ooooh.  At first it was a shoe-in for Pooh.  But then I saw Fozzie.  Still chose Pooh, because if I absolutely had to, I could live without Fozzie, and I'm not sure I could live without Pooh.  But Fozzie is also a very important bear in my life.

I'm a little torn. I feel a slight sense of duty to vote for the one that's indirectly named after where I live. I also love The Muppets and I think the impact of the characters from there has been tremendous to entertainment in general, but Fozzie is kind of a weak link. I'm probably most like Baloo, but I feel no sense of loyalty to Disney (which owns rights to both of the other bears, so maybe that's moot).

@Life Of Tass Not sure who that bear is? and the poll is only fictional bears, not real bears.

This is the bear from the movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) that Borat bought as a pet for protection

Too many good choices (then there is Little Bear from the Maurice Sendak books, and probably many other good fictional bears). But from the poll I chose Winnie the Pooh.

I remember enjoying the animated version bbc showed. I really liked it.

I also really like from this poll Winnie, paddington, fozzie, yogi, bungle, Rupert.

I do l9ve we bare bears and ice bear is my favourite.

I also loved the anthropomorphic narrator in the section in Memoirs of a polar bear by Yoko Tawada.

I would be tempted to include the bear that travels with the band Sea Power but that bear is not fictional.

At the end, I think the choice for me comes between Paddington and fozzie (as I like to go for poll choices)  and as fozzie is my favourite muppet, he gets my vote

While I voted for Winnie the Pooh, Polar Bear from Shirokuma Café is pretty nice too (he loves puns so that's a plus for me):

Absolutely Paddington. When I was little, my mum used to read to me at bedtime from a giant book of Paddington stories that my gran gave me (still have it somewhere). My partner has maybe done the same within the past year or so when I've had trouble sleeping lol.

Oh, how could I ever forget - Bamse, the world's strongest (and kindest) bear (Swedish comic book character):

Actually honestly personally, more his grandma, actually:

I'm gonna go with Monokuma there, just for the heck of it.

@Ceebs.

I remember Paddington. My father had three books of the Paddington stories (in Polish translation). That's how, as a kid, I learned about the Guy Fawkes Day and the Paddington station and the weird pre-decimal currency.

I loved the Little Bear animated series!

Also remember Noah's Island?

As much as i do like Paddington, it has to be Winne the Pooh for me.
