I've not been formally diagnosed with Asperger's, though I did have a counselor point out that I definitely seemed to have the syndrome - and he did not know of my asexuality. I read online what one has to do to get diagnosed, and if the info was correct, I refuse as I don't really desire a psychiatrist probing my family members, as I appreciate my privacy in that sense. But counselor pointed out a lot of problems I brought to him seemed really fitting - I have a terrible time socially, I can't really relate to 99% of the people I come across, and while I feel my emotions extremely intensely, they don't really come out externally unless I totally lose it (rare) and I can't express them verbally with any ease. There are tons of other factors that made him think I have Asperger's that would take forever to list here.

I am asexual and I have one child with Aspergers who may end up being asexual as well. She is almost 13. November 25th is her birthday. She still thinks boys have cooties. So she may be slow to develop that way due to her Aspergers or she may be Asexual like her old mama here. Who knows. We will see as time goes by.

As far as my own traits I do not think that I am autistic in any way. I have never been diagnosed as such. I do however score somewhat high on the quotent test. Mostly because I have sensory issues.

I have Asperger's and I think I'm asexual, I didn't see the 'questioning' option before I voted. However, most of the people I know with Asperger's are not at all asexual.

Like I've said before, I never really actually think of my officially-diagnosed Asperger's Syndrome and my Asexuality as having much to do with one another. But I won't rule out the possibility that the two might be interlinked in any such way. As I see it, that remains to be determined.

I hate that word, "Disorder," It says that I have something wrong with me, and I have no problem with who I am. I, for instance, can't stand people. It's true. If theres some people that I like fine, I can ignore their bad traits. But otherwise, people really piss me off. Their obnoxoiusness, selfishness, greediness, ect. because the list goes on. I'm fine with being sensitive to faults. It got me to surviving this far, where I would have been depreesed with what I'd been through and might've killed myself, but instead, I stayed sane because I knew that people were people and they can make mistakes. I don't suppose they have a disorder for being a misanthrope? I don't find it a disorder.

As for their "disorder" I do have some traits, but it's still a disorder, so I'm not going to claim I have it. That's why I didn't vote. I take intrest in things other people don't, I'm fine with it. I don't like being in social situations, I'm fine with it. I just wish those **** would just leave people like me alone. They're trying to put a label on me, and I've had that already. I put a label on me, or there is no label at all.

Apparently- according to what my mother told me about some mild damage incurred during birth- I'm right on the edge of the autistic spectrum. I've occasionally considered that it might be connected to my being ace.

I have Asperger's -- I had been thinking for a while it was likely, and then my doctor confirmed it. However, I don't yet have an official diagnosis, as he wasn't sure that this would really tangibly help me for the moment.

I'm also very definitely asexual, and he was entirely cool with that.

He is the nicest and most helpful doctor I have ever come across. And I am so glad to have found someone like that.

"I am not sure. I'm asexual."

My brother has Asperger's. I didn't actually know what he had exactly until about a year ago, when I overheard my mom and brother discussing it. Now that I know, it's led me to wonder sometimes whether I have it too, or whether I picked up some of his traits due to him being only a year older than me and (for much of my childhood) my closest friend.

I haven't been officially diagnosed with anything, nor do I particularly want to be (I haven't made any attempt to talk with a doctor/psychiatrist about this).

EDIT: Looking back through this thread, I found a quiz (http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php), and my results were:

Your Aspie score: 144 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 85 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

Really not sure what to think now...

Man, I wish I knew for sure if I did or did not have this disorder. That way I will know if my lack of social skills and tendency to not recognize people is legitimately caused by something or is just me being a jerk/shy. I have no interest in using it as a crutch, I am just extremely curious.

My behavior is probably linked to my aromanticism; as for my asexuality, I don't really know. Maybe?

Have you considered the possibility you have face blindness?

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosopagnosia

I have no idea, of course, and I'm not trying to diagnose you, just offering a possibility you may not have considered. This site [http://www.faceblind.org/research/] has a quiz, I think.

I'm starting to wonder if I have aspie, though if I do have it is is really low.

Tried the test Fio linked to and got this...

Your Aspie score: 93 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 93 of 200

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

Not really conclusive xD

After reading about aspergers, I think I may have it, but its really not big enough to have changed anything in my life...

I have a lot of the traits of aspergers including some degree of face blindness but I've never been officially diagnosed. I am asexual. I function well enough in life, however, so I'll likely never get an official diagnosis one way or another and will probably never know for sure unless things change drastically.

I voted on this before when I first joined (and suspected that I had Aspergers) but I recently sought assessment. Despite having most traits I could find on websites, it turns out that I have the most strangely overlapped symptoms of a bunch of other stuff, tourette's included.

read: Asexy non-aspie with official negative diagnosis

EDIT: I was curious what I wrote last time I took it (turns out I voted but never commented) and found the quiz you all have been posting from

Your Aspie score: 124 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 67 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

hehehe

Voted I think so; Ace

I'm in the process of taking to quiz, and one of the questions shocked the living daylights out of me

Do your feelings cycle regularly between hopelessness and extremely high confidence?

and

Do you find it hard to recognize phone numbers when said in a different way?

*Looks over shoulder*

Are you watching me big brother?

Results:

Your Aspie score: 137 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 54 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

Damn.

My mother told me that I have a mild case of Aspergers. Although to be honest, I couldn't tell you one thing about it! I shall research it now!

I'm also asexual.

It crossed my mind only once when I first realized my asexuality, but I'm definitely not. In my work, I deal with a lot of new employees/clients everyday, so I have no trouble talking with people/ chatting, so maybe I'm just weird...

I hate is when people say that Asperger's is a personality 'disorder'. It's what makes me who I am and defines my personality, whether that's in small or large ways. The word 'disorder' has negative connotations, and I don't want my personallity to be described in such a way.

I have a few traits of it and I remember having teachers express concerns of it either to myself or my parents at different points in my education. I also saw both an in-school therapist and family practice physician who expressed some concerns over it when I was 17. That being said, I have no interest in getting an official diagnosis.

I've found that as I've gotten older things have improved. I haven't shown any hints of echolalia since I was 9-10. I stopped stimming around 18 (college stress brought on fits where I'd rock or flap until I eventually felt better). I still have alexithymia to a mild degree, but I've gotten better about being vocal when I don't understand emotions and making comparisons that make sense to everyone involved. Luckily my friends are pretty nerdy, so strange emotional expression seems to be the norm (squeeing, glomping, flailing, etc.)

I've been to several shrinks and they all seem to have differing opinions on whether or not I have it. One of them gave me a written test and when I scored ten points off from entering the Asperger's-Autism spectrum she accused me of lying. She also was morbidly obese and had about fifty cats which she allowed inside her office and would routinely step outside for a smoke while we were in a session, so I don't really respect her opinion of me, lol. All the shrinks I've been to have been crazier than I am. It's so difficult to find quality affordable counseling locally...

No. I'm asexual. And I have schizotypal personality disorder, which has some overlap with autism though.

Officially diagnosed five years before I discovered my Asexuality. (Don't know if that really makes any difference or not though).

I never underwent diagnosis, though I probably don't have it. I'm socially awkward, yes, but to a lesser extent than Aspergers usually are.

Your Aspie score: 71 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 145 of 200

You are very likely neurotypical

I think the fact I'm totally obsessed with body language, non-verbal communication and how people think in general may have swayed that result, I'm a social butterfly but i wasn't born that way. I definitely have a few traits of aspergers, the main one other people notice is my massive memory for numbers though I can never remember directions or where people live until I've been there multiple times, my memory is so fickle :(
