No. I'm asexual. Ive been tested for it (more than once I think) but it supposedly came out negative each time. I really wouldn't be surprised if I do have Asperger's.

Scratch that. Latest evaluation says I do Xp

Yes to both, although amazingly enough I'd never heard of AS when I was diagnosed with it at age twelve. (Neither had my parents.)

Wouldn't put much stock in the test, personally; as with everything online, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

This is the score I got on the quiz:

Your Aspie score: 132 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 63 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

I've never been diagnosed, though. One of my good friends from college hypothesizes that I may have Asperger's (or autism). But I really don't know. I've always been pretty socially awkward with little ability to perceive depth.

As for my (a)sexuality: not sure at this point. Still analyzing it.

I am formally diagnosed with AS. I wish that when they told me about AS they had mentioned the possibility of asexuality, because it would have helped alot to know that. I'm much happier now I've got that all worked out.

Okay, okay...so I'm a Johnny-come-lately to this thread.

Be that as it may, even though I am gay (not a-); I have just today received a diagnosis of Asperger's. So, I *am* an aspie. I wonder how many other gay men have Asperger's.

I work in the schools and have been involved with the diagnosis of mental conditions for over 20 years. I really think you have to be careful with on-line quizes. Don't take them and assume automatically that you might have aspergers. There is a lot more to the diagnosis of this or other conditions and there is a great deal of over-lap between aspergers and say, ADHD, OCD and other possible issues. I'm not knocking the quizes- I'm sure they can help you think of ways you behave, etc. All I'm saying is just be careful. Okay, enough said- I just clicked on the link to Aspergers/Asexual out of curiosity (partially because of my work). I am by the way, fairly normal (I think) and a sexual male- here to figure out issues between me and my wife who appears to be asexual or if not that, one who has always had an extremely low sexual appetite.

I'm an asexual and I probably have Asperger's even though I was never diagnosed by a professional.

From what I've learned online, I have most of the symptoms.

I have some similar characteristics to that of Asperger's, but I place that more on my intellect? For instance, some things discussed difficulty forming relationships with children of same age group and such (as a child), and I did, but that was because my interests differed and their conversations about who they liked or this new dress positively bored me. I do like routines, but again, it's not set. I don't -have- to stick to it, which may make me different (it's hard to understand). I just like having a general idea of how I'm going to make the most of the day.

Basically, I'm not sure I fall into it... I also think it could be easy to be mislabeled into this group if you are asexual. I think I need to do more research.

I just put no, asexual. I've taken all those tests and just laugh at my answers.

For instance, to answer the one about wearing the same clothes every day... lol. I'm just glad I'm *doing* something.

I'm coming to the conclusion that I've just got no interest in social things. I completely understand them, I just don't *like* them. I have need for that stuff. It's just a blessing of being *really* introverted. I read a book on that once- about how people's brains actually develop differently and how there's an actual gene for introversion/extroversion. Best book I ever read... lol.

Having Asperger's doesn't necessarily mean you hate people on a general basis. Some Aspies want to get along and understand other people and envy them. It's just some (like me) can see society from different perspectives and it doesn't look very good and/or find people too frustrating.

I am just curious about the makeup of AVEN members as it pertains to Asperger's. A higher percentage of asexuals seem to have Asperger's compared to the sexual population.

So to that end here's a detailed poll.

There are 5 possible options for asexual, sexual and questioning.

Not sure, but I'm deeply distrustful of psychological diagnoses. It's all grey areas, not really scientific in my opinion. I'm often the last one to understand a joke with sexual connotation; and most jokes are sexual -> add a point to your autism score! Sometimes the questions in these quizzes could point to someone who is simply introverted as opposed to extroverted. So what! Better not try to get an "official" diagnosis - it might end up on all sorts of records (and could still be completely wrong)!

By the way, there's a film coming out in Feb next year about a guy who is mistaken for a terrorist because of his unusual behaviour due to Asperger's. Bollywood: "My Name Is Khan" with Shahrukh Khan.

I was diagnosed with aspergers when I was 7 and I am an asexual. I hate being touched and I also hate kissing and cuddling. It used to really piss me off when I was in my teens and people would come up to me at start hugging me and touching me.

Well put; I'm glad someone took this up. Thanks, Sexual Hubby :) I'm under the impression that being non-NT/ having Asperger's syndrome is something of a fad going on in some communities (generally speaking) - people want to have 'it'. I wonder why? And I suspect that some peeps just state that they are Aspies out of wishful thinking or because of the 'positive' Internet tests or perhaps a doctor/psychologist suspected the diagnosis, but it wasn't confirmed or not checked thoroughly. Or the doctor in question was an ENT-doctor or dentist perhaps.

Could be a medical/psychological vogue in some parts, too. Sloppy diagnostics do occur. So how many people's condition(s) have been evaluated according to guidelines and the DSM or ICD-10 resp.? If such practices become even more common and because of the effects that such a developement can entail, the results for those who've been correctly assessed and the people who really are inhibited will most likely be quite detrimental.

Additionally, syndromes like ADHD, Asperger's, OCD are part of a spectrum, as SexualHubby has pointed out.

N.B.: I've got both ADHD and Asperger's (and I'm asexual) - certified and sealed, so to speak  - I've been thoroughly examined by (appropiate) medical and psychological specialists.

I have been diagnosed with Asperger's, and I consider myself asexual. People don't evoke any emotion in me.

A common misconception among the non-autistic folk is that all people on the spectrum are asexual, and that is definitely not true. While there might be a slightly higher incidence of asexuality among autistics, it is not always the case.

I wasn't quite sure what it was. So I took a test and out of 50 questions. 33 of my answers scored as a person with aspergers. And that anyone over 32 certainly had it. But I'm still not sure as it could just be my social phobia ^^;

Just noticed that other test posted so I took that one too. My results

I'm pretty weird myself but I doubt I have Asperger's syndrome.

Never been diagnosed with anything, and as someone who hasn't seen a doctor since 1995, I have no intentions of changing things now.

I scored this on the test, though:

Your Aspie score: 148 of 200

Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 50 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

Not into the whole self-diagnosing thing, because it's FAR easy to pin a label on yourself, but I do have a fair few of the prominent traits. I just tend think of myself as quirky—I'm sure there's plenty of folk who'd be ready disagree, though. :P
