I saw the creator of AVEN/this website on the Richard and Judy show a few years back; I'd never heard of asexuality before it. I can remember listening to him and thinking "so I'm not the only one!". That was a real good day.

Ages ago asexuality and AVEN were once mentioned on the frontpage of a free newspaper that I like to read.

I'm pretty sure it was from Wikipedia. I was going through an especially angsty period I my life back when I found AVEN. I was trying to find a name for how I felt and somehow stumbled across the asexuality page and found the link. The rest is history!

I typed 'asexual' into google, and along with the wikipedia page, Aven came up. I was on a hunt for a descriptive definition on asexuality.

first I found asexuality in Google, then I saw some interviews in Youtube with creator of this site - David Jay ;)

There was mentioned site asexuality.org so I checked it out and the next day registered:)

I can't explain how great I felt when I found out there was asexuality..

It's complex.

It started when I was going through the back topics of anther forum, which linked to a youtube video about homophobes being repressed gays (?), and one of the related videos was on asexuality, and mentioned this site. So, I decided to take a look.

And here I am.

I was bored, so I started stalking people on Xanga. The word my friend had used recently to describe me popped into my head, so I typed in 'asexual'. Came across someone who was apologizing for falsely stating that he was an asexual, because there were people out there who really were. And, wouldn't you know it, he'd posted a link to AVEN right there.

Aww, memories. :)

EDIT: Don't be fooled by when I joined, I was a lurker here for a good couple years...well, it seems like a long time to me :P

A guy on another forum I'm a member of "came out" as asexual on said forum, and posted a few links along with an explanation of asexuality. AVEN was one of those links.

Googled 'asexual', wondering what my orientation was and if I was ever going to have the kind of feelings about people I realised others had been having for years .

Re:DMG - I didn't know David Jay had ever been on Richard and Judy. I'd like to see that. Judging by what people have reported visibility efforts have been around for longer than I thought.

I don't remember. It was probably from searching the term "asexuality" and ending up in the Wiki page.

I followed a series of clues, each more dastardly than the previous!

...

I googled 'asexual'...

I googled for "lack of sex drive" or similar, and came up with AVEN.

Thank deity. :P

I found AVEN after searching for hours on google. I kept googling "never dated" but all I got was people wanting to date, and that wasn't me. I was so frustrated. I kept revising my search query untill i came to a Yahoo Answers link. It contained a link to AVEN and I read the forums all night. The next day I signed up and posted my freakishly long welcome post.... and here I am, happier than ever

I was discussing my lack of mental sex drive on LiveJournal, when a friend directed me kindly to this site here. :)

On one of my forums, asexuality was mentioned in passing with a link to the wikipedia article. Although the article was rather unhelpful, there was a link to AVEN at the bottom, which turned out to be quite useful.

Whilst searching the list wikipedia gave under 'sexuality' for the one that best apllied to me, so another wikpedia vote here.

A friend had it as a Facebook group, I followed it and went "huh. I shouldn't be surprised, but..."

Then I signed up. >_>
