Not sure if this is the right place for such a poll, but here it goes.

I'm curious about how comfortable with their nudity are people on AVEN, and how would they feel about their naked bodies being a main element of a photograph. We can assume that the creator is someone well known to us and trusted, but not necessarily our romantic partner (if applicable). Feel free to elaborate what kind of circumstances/creative vision/motivation behind the idea would make you likely to consider your participation, if you can imagine such.

Well, I've considered doing my own photos haha. And I don't just mean quick nudes with my camera phone. DSLR or whatever, with a self-timer. Artsy stuff, and possibly... BDSM-y? I don't know how I'd feel about someone else taking those types of photos of me unless it was my partner, and I don't know how how he'd feel about someone else doing it either.

I kind of like the idea of non-sexual nude photos too, like images that don't hide imperfections and actually sort of celebrate them instead.

Nope, not a chance. I am nudity repulsed, and that includes myself being naked. I don't even wear t-shirts or shorts when out, only long sleeves and trousers to show as little skin as possible. I am planning to take up swimming, but I am not even sure how well I will cope with that.

i'm sex-repulsed but i don't associate nudity with sex for some reason...

i'm actually nude in one of the photos in the inside gate-fold sleeve of one of my old band's LP's...strategically placed prop obscuring "the bits" though...there's like hundreds of copies of that floating around but for some reason i think it's fine...i feel like i look good and it's a funny picture...

Doing that for money is, I guess, as valid motivation as any other. In professional setting, the contract between the photographer and the model is called model release. If I recall correctly, it gives copyright of the work to the photographer (or their employer), although we can assume a different kind of arrangement. Worth noting is that model releases in the EU have to be GDPR compliant, so some additional rights are automatically granted.

When my ex asked for a nude, he used the photo against me and I think he showed his mates and laughed at me behind my back. I was so stupid, I cried everyday. I had nightmares and flashbacks about the trauma of it all. But it's a common thing now, online coercion on social media and revenge po***graphy, it's awful.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you @stampoc. One of my friends was also a subject of similar treatment from her ex, and I can recall an instance of such non-consensual photos circulating in school during my mid-teenage days and the girl changing schools as a result (and that was pre-social media). I can't fathom why people can be so cruel :( this is also why I decided to put a poll in a Gray Area of the forum instead of "just for fun", since I know that there are stories like this.

Nope. Maybe if I were wearing very scantily clad clothing or lingerie with none of my most intimate parts actually showing, but not completely naked.

And I think it depends on the nude, is it the body shape? covering b0()bs and privates ? Either way, I still say no to nudes, any nudes.

And, beware of showing privates, my ex was awful and abusive. He got away from abusing me online but everyone knows what he has done, I don't need to do anything, I stay away from him. I told his ex best friend what he did to me, everyone knows his shame.

Nope I definitely wouldn’t pose nude for a photograph. Especially after what happened. Did it once and completely regretted it

No way. I'm extremely nudity-averse and it's the most important (although not only) reason for my sex aversion.

Bloody hell no.  You never know where something like that will end up.  And even if it doesn't show your face, even if it's a painting rather than a photo, you might still be identified.  They even eventually worked out who the model for L'Origine du Monde was.

I can't imagine why anyone would even want that from me. :P

Also, I tend to not like having my photo taken even fully clothed (especially the way I look most of the time). Although I'm not as avoidant as I was when I was younger (especially teen years and my 20s).

I've posed for nude BDSM themed artistic (non-sexual) photos before. Wouldn't mind doing it again if a friend asked for a favour but it's not something I'm particularly interested in.

No.

Because it'd be child porn

And also because I'd be relatively uncomfortable with the concept

We may always assume that the photograph is going to be made on a Polaroid (or with a retro technique, like XIX century wet plate) and we are going to be the sole owner of the only copy, which we can do anything we want with - including destroying it soon after the shot. It might sound like it defeats the purpose of creating a photo, but there's no law saying that an image needs to live a minimum of X amount of time.

My thoughts exactly.

Ex manipulated me into doing it, not pleasant... If I got a lot of money off of it maybe? If I was thinner maybe I'd do it for a painting for art students learning how to paint people

A surprisingly common story on AVEN.

I would hope that those two reasons are somewhat related.

I think that under the right circumstances I might be up for it. Like if I had a partner who was really into this, I would consider it. As long as I have enough trust in them obviously. Other than that, not so sure.

I would probably feel more comfortable with semi-nudes, though.

A somewhat but not completely nude picture. So the person in it would be wearing underwear or no clothes but covering their most intimate parts so they don't appear fully nude.

In photography there's this term "implied nudity". Pictures where nudity of the model is suggested, but the viewer can only guess the actual extent of it, because the 'sensitive bits' are either covered (explicitly or with camera angle tricks) or shallow depth of field (lens blur) makes it impossible to tell the details. This kind of work relies on the power of suggestion and ability of the human mind to fill the blanks. Interesting stuff. Now I regret that I didn't include such option in the poll.
