  1. 1. How often do you watch the VISUAL music-related media (DCDs, Blu-Rays, etc.) that you bought?

    • I come back to them regularly and love to watch concerts on screen.

Recently, I've been thinking about buying a newly-published DVD by one of my favourite bands. Some time earlier I was wondering about whether or not to but one by another band I like. In both cases I decided against it, bearing in mind what happened to the 2 DVDs I HAD bought, namely after watching it approximately twice each back-to-back and then coming back a few times to some selected songs, I put them on the shelf where they would gathered dust until I sold them. It occurred to me that watching my favourite band play on the computer/TV screen for an extented period of time is not my thing.

Which got me wondering, how often do people WATCH their VISUAL music-related media? Maybe I'm the one expecting too much?

I usually don't, to a large extent probably because I'm not into mainstream pop/rock music. But also... I usually also do something else while listening to music (or other kind of media). For example:

  • music + writing my diary;
  • music + physical exercise;
  • political discussions online + eating dinner (I can't really read when eating dinner because I need to look at my plate/bowl a little);
  • political discussions online + solving puzzles.

Listening only is usually too boring for me, for example I couldn't listen to discussions without solving puzzles at the same time. Anyway, puzzles are good for the most important body part there is (and as an asexual and not very healthy person I do tend to perceive other body parts as something for which I have no hatred, but also absolutely no enthusiasm) - the brain, obviously.

I haven't sat and watched a music video since the days of VHS. I watched quite a few music videos back then. These days I have music playing most of the time, but am always doing something else at the same time, such as working on my created universe and other projects, as I like to be doing something productive with my time, otherwise I get bored quickly.

With a few rare exceptions I don't buy such media, and the few I have bought I've only sat and watched a few times. Mostly when I watch music videos it is select individual songs on YouTube or other platforms.

i still buy a lot of music related physical media, mainly because it's not available elsewhere. granted, nowadays i don't have my dvd player always set up so it can be a bit tricky.

I'll put in the disc and usually just watch a certain part but not the whole thing

Same here. :) It would be hard for me to focus on a visual show on a screen for 2 hrs.
