An animal cannot fulfill the intellectual and social desires met by a human relationship, and likewise, humans cannot occupy the same completely nonjudgmental, wordless, intuitive space that a companion animal can, no matter how much they try. Although when it comes to my human family members, I don’t know if I’d say I love my cats more than them. It’s definitely a different kind of love. I'm very selective about the humans I get close to, but the connection and reciprocal understanding of a loving relationship with another person is not remotely like anything I could feel for an animal. As part of ongoing Census organisation, and in an attempt to keep the demographics of the polls current with the active user base at the time, the polls will last for one year from now on.
